Shadowcat slipped in, feeling slightly ashamed that she was late.
"Sorry, everyone. Got a bit waylaid," she started to explain. Everyone seemed quiet. And disturbed.
"Um..." was all she managed to choke out, as just as she began to speak again she caught sight of the dead person.

Mrs. Haldir dropped her glass. Her eyes went wide when she heard the news. She then blinked a few times. "Did I hear correctly? Someone has died?! How could this have happened?!"

Autumn had followed the group quietly when she heard the scream, feeling faint and frightened. Besides seeing the cold, lifeless body of a fellow guest, Autumn had to contemplate staying in the same house where a murder had just taken place. What if the murderer was still here?

Did Kit just say this had happened before?

Autumn headed back to the dinner hall as instructed, only half-concious of the conversations around her. She was trying to keep an eye open for anything suspicious or lurking in a dark corner. But she couldn't stand the chill that entered her spine after staring out at the windows--she couldn't see anything anyway, and this only made her more nervous. Autumn decided to join in on the dinner conversation, and soon she was comfortable enough to continue eating--the food was very good. But the nagging image of Aefthyth's body refused to leave her mind.

Taur sat back down at the dining room table, except this time in the brightest, least-creepy part in the middle under the chandelier. She piled her plate high and bolted it down nervously, her eyes glazed, deep in thoughts.

"Is she really...dead?" Melda wanted to know from across the table. The food on her plate looked as though it'd been there for a while, as did the fork she was nervously toying with. Vampire fangs were much less useful when people died and you didn't know why. "I mean...dead?" She looked at Taur anxiously. "How can someone die under a doormat?"

Melda startled Taur out of her thoughts. "What? Oh... I don't know." She was very confused. "I didn't feel like I had the stomach to look close enough to find out." she added with a slight, sad smile. Looking around at everyone else, she asked "Did anyone get a good enough look to see what killed her?"

A slightly bedraggled Jedi Knight ran through the front door, a half-ashamed smile on her face. "I am sorry I am so late, but Luke needed me to do something at the last minute... Wait," she heard the whispers of talk of the dead person " someone has died?"

"Yes," Autumn answered Kiri's question quietly, "we found her...under the doormat." She certainly hadn't wandered too close herself, and come to think of it, she was curious about how the person actually died. "We didn't actually inspect the body..." she ventured cautiously. "Maybe we should try and figure out what happened."

Taur managed to smile at Kiri as she entered. Turning back to the dinner table, she said "Should we... go look at it?" Taur turned a delicate pale as she tried to decide which was stronger: her fear or her curiousity.

Elenriel quickly raced up to the mansion simply annoyed that school and work had made her late. Seeing the body under the doormat, she jumped a few steps back, not believing what she saw. "Oh my!" she exclaimed, as her face paled at the sight. Drawing in shallow breaths she tried to still the rapid beating of her heart as she tried to think what to do next. Stepping cautiously around the prone form she raced into the dining area. "Umm guys..." she stated. "There's-" she stopped in mid-sentence, as she read the expression on everyone's faces. They knew. "What's going on?" she whispered instead, her eyes filled with a mixture of shock and sorrow.

"Bother----Aefthyth's body's not a particularly aesthetically pleasing to the eye...." Kit pondered to herself, "Yusef, please do remove this quickly. We'll leave it in the basement. Go on!"

"I'm sorry for that, Elenriel, Autumn, Kiri! Come, have some food. They're delicious. Top notch food. Try the pumpkin pie, I beseech you all." Kit greeted the new guests and shooed them off to the rest of the party. "Some of the other guests have retired after such a traumatizing discovery, so don't be alarmed at the lack of liveliness here."

PD, dressed in an 18th century fashioned, deep blue evening gown, rushed into the house and entered the ballroom after quickly flying by the butler and flinging her cloak at him. She was shocked by how late she was and that so many people were already there. "hello, everyone, PD has finally arrived!" she waved. "oh dear I fear I'm extremely late… I'm so sorry, everyone! Wait, someone has already died!? I didn't know I'd be this late!" PD plopped into a random chair to regain her breath.

"Hello, PD!" Taur said. "No, it's quite alright! You weren't the only one who was late, and I daresay you won't be the last! And yes, poor Aefthyth died a couple hours ago, on the door mat." Then, thinking about it, she added, "Actually, you were lucky to be late. It wasn't pleasant to be around when..." she shuddered.

Elenriel took a piece of the pumpkin pie, although she really did not feel much like eating. "Hi Taur, PD!" she said with forced cheerfulness. "A couple hours you say?" she asked Taur as she smoothed out a wrinkle in her Renaissance maiden attire before taking a seat. "Does anyone know what happened?" she asked.

MB stumbled out of her room, after completely draining her current hip flask dry of its contents. She had passed out after seeing the deceased guest.

She quietly creeped down the stairs, listening for signs of the party. She realized everyone was back in the dining room, either finishing their meal ("Who could EAT??" she thought.) or having some sort of discussion. She got down the stairs in time to hear Kit say, "Bother----Aefthyth's body's not a particularly aesthetically pleasing to the eye...." Kit pondered to herself, "Yusef, please do remove this quickly. We'll leave it in the basement. Go on!"

She peered in the dining room, and saw everyone was there. Everyone and a few new people. Wait--some had left. Presumably doing exactly what she had done. ... Or not? Hmmmm...

She waved at the newcomers and nodded at everyone else who was still there. She nodded at Kit, as if she needed to speak to her. She headed for a chair in the corner, somewhat distant from the others.

At the sight and smell of food, she realized how hungry she was. Despite being sickened at the sight of a dead body. She needed sustance for such a long party this was going to be.

She piped up and asked, "Is there only pumpkin pie? How about apple pie?"
