He pulled up short as a support beam fell in the exact place where David would have been in less than two seconds. His reflexes were running high right now, and the very lowest they could get to. David had woken to flashing lights and lost of noises that he couldn't identify, so he went to see what was going on.

It seemed that he was very luckly today, for he not only avoided being crushed by a support beam, but he also got out of his room just seconds before the roof decided to collaspe.

David grabbed the beam with telekenesis and moved it out of the way, being careful not to upset the foundations any more than they all ready were. Just as he was wondering how the other children were doing, he spied Lucius and Aelie. "Hey!" he shouted, baarely able to hear himself over the din. "Are you two all right?"

Meanwhile twenty miles away from the Alpha X compound, a battalion of soldiers were battling against yet another terrorist raid on the facility. Someone had managed to infiltrated into the compound unknown until he tripped the alarm. And now, the terrorists and the special forces has been fighting for the past thirty minutes. The air has been ringed with screams, gunshots, and explosions. But now it's been silent save for the few moans of the wounded.

Captain Syd walked around the battlefield, occasionally shooting the wounded enemies who haven't died yet. He reloaded his SIG P226 as he looked around. Suddenly another alarm blared again. It was the alarm that indicated there was a power outage. The emergency power system was activated. Syd ordered his men back to the compound.

Lucius easily heard David's voice through the clamor around them. "We're fine." He called back. "I haven't seen any other the others, though."

He wrapped a hand around Aelie's arm and started walking towards David, picking his way through the rubble. "I can't hear them, either, over all this noise." He expanded his illusion to include David, so the three of them were enveloped in a darkened screen.

When Ceari didn't answer, Marianna did a larger sweep of the area, sending a telepathic message to the other children trapped within the compound. I'm here, in my quarters, but I can't move for fear of touching a live wire. i think Ceari is with me, but she isn't answering, please come and help, if you can hear me. Takeing a deep breath to calm herself she tried to wait patiantly for the others to come to her aid, but it was hard to do as the roof was groaning like it might give way at any passing second.

Ceari nodded quickly, though invisable.

"Yes it's me. Tell all the other that this is it! We can escape!" with a silently added 'finally' at the end of her sentence, Ceari appeared in the small cell-like room, waiting for Marianna to respond.

"That I will do." Replyed Marianna. Follow my thoughts she sent out to the other children Ceari's found a way out! Marianna continued to broadcast this message until all the children were together.

Lucius cautiously started walking towards Marianna's room, all his senses alert. <i>A way out?</i> He thought as he made his way through the wreckage. What would the world outside the compound be like? He had lived here for as long as he could remember, and had to admit he was nervous about leaving.

Eventually he reached Ceari and Marianna. "What's going on?" He asked.

Aelie echoed the question, expression still taut anxiety. The noise had lessened somewhat; but everything she knew lay in tatters or ruins or shades of what she remembered it as, and the world beyond - the world she hadn't known existed - seemed an unfriendly one. No one would stop or pause to explain what was happening or why, and Aelie knew she was not invisible. Something strange was happening.

"I don't think any of us know," she opined very quietly, timidly, not knowing if perhaps Ceari or Marianna had some explanation of what was tearing her world to shreds.

The roar of ten military vehicles broke the night silence as they sped towards the compound. Syd was commanding to his lieutenant, "High command wants them unharmed. Use non-lethal weapons. Snares, nets, electric darts, rubber bullets. Just make sure you don't make any of them bleed. And take caution. We don't know the full extent of their powers"

He clasped his phone as he watched the facility loom closer and closer. The sight of the half-destroyed facility slightly alarmed him. It looked like it wasn't a simple power outage. It looked more like a terrorist bomb. He stepped out of his car and waited outside for an aide who hastily made his way to him and saluted.

"What?" Syd asked impatiently.
"Sir," the aide began. "It appears that the terrorists managed to infiltrate into the inner ring and destroy the compound. All five guards that were stationed here were destroyed in the explosion."
"Are there any terrorists still in here?"
"We have reason to believe so."
"Right," Syd said in a final tone. He watched his men disembark from the troop carriers and said, "Gentlemen. As you can see," A steel bar chose that moment to collapse on a fiery ruin. "Terrorists has managed to detonate a bomb inside the facility. The test subjects may be still unaware of this but it is imperative that we re-capture them before the terrorists get hold of them. Non-lethal weapons are to be used against the subjects but for the terrorists, shoot to kill. Go."

The shrouded soldiers in black balaclavas and body armour quickly organised themselves into squads as Syd entered the ruins with his P226 drawn.

David held up a telekenetic (I'm going to abrieviate this as TK to make my life easier) shield as the group walked to Marianna's room to protect them from debry. As they reached the room; David, ever pragmatic, moved out from the protective iillusion bubble, let his TK shield drop, and went to the door. He didn't touch the handle, but instead pushed it open with telekenesis (also going to be TK), being careful not to make the entire structure collaspe on Marianna's head.

He saw the downed power line and tried to pick it up. David's grasp slipped and the cord fell back to the floor, he wasn't used to all this adrenaline pumping though his body, it made his control shaky, though his reflexes were on overdrive. He tried again, and this time managed to hold onto it. "Could you get out fast, please. I don't know how long I can hold this and I don't want to electrocute you. Would kinda ruin the day, don't you think?" he said with a quirky smile on his face.

Lucius started under the wire, but suddenly stopped and turned around. He listened for a moment, then looked at the others. "Someone's coming." He said tersely, and ducked under the power line.
