Beckett tensed at the very nerve of this woman. Who did she think she was? As Emma let go of his hand she turned to Lotty. Lotty gave her a small smile and a shake of the hand. "what were you talking about before I came in?" Emma asked while she scanned the faces of the whole group.
"where to find Vari." came Lotty's quick and simple reply, "but Sam's right.... we're right out in plain sight here. We should go. To Cole's?" she looked inquisitively at Edward to see what his answer would be. She was fairly sure of a "yes".
Emma was perplexed by this, "where are we going? Cole... Applegate?"
(is it ok that I combined Lotty and Emma?)

As Cole opened the door he was met with commotion and little else. Immediately he noticed a strange girl being held between some soldiers. After taking a quick glance around the room he went over to where the Commodore was. He looked flustered and like he was in a hurry, but that didn't stop Cole. Sam hesitated for a moment in doubt: she needed to find Vari but on the other hand she didn't know whether Edward's word was enough trust this Cole. Again she look at Edward, as if judging him and then decided to come along. From all the people Sam knew, Edward was one of the few she was sure of to trust.
"Em, we're gonna look for another friend of mine, Vari. She'll help us to get a ship and get out of this nest of redcoats." Sam said to Emma with these words she walked after the others. "So why are ye lookin' for Vari?" she asked Lotty.

Norrington looked up as Cole Applegate entered the hall. "What can I do for you young man so late at night? Or should I say so early in the morning?" He looked at Alex and decided that his departure could wait another moment.

Alex glanced at her shackled hands and remembered the pin she always kept with her. She casually reached into her pocket and kept it concealed in her hand for a moment, waiting for the opportune moment.

(here I am! sorry, I haven't been here in a few days!  )
Beckett watched Keyara's face closely, "and so it may be." he quietly replied and took another sip of tea. She still didn't understand, did she? Less honor and respect, ha. Beckett knew once you achieved the rank he had attained you got most of the respect for things accomplished no matter how many people were helping you. Whereas in her case when she accomplished something alone she got very little respect or honor because the small things she accomplished weren't noteworthy to the bigger ones someone like.... ahem, he accomplished? Beckett quickly noted her smirk, but he made no response to it.

Now that Sam had explained everything, Emma's gaze turned to the horizon as well. "aye, but why the Applegate house as a hideout? There's always English officers coming and going.... not to mention that Mr. Jansen* is a nasty, pirate-hating type of fellow." Emma wondered if they had gone insane. she trusted Sam and her judgment, but she still wasn't sure of the whole thing
Lotty, always trusting Edward, followed the rest silently until she was addressed by Sam. "I came along with Edward."
(I hope that's ok.... I'm still trying to figure out that Sam knows Edward and Emma, Lotty knows only Edward, Emma knows Sam, and then that's it right? Oh, and Vari knows Edward and so does Sam and Emma? Is that right?  I'm getting a little confused with all the connections here. lol
btw, * Mr. Jansen is their step-father.... it's in the updated bios that he has a different last name but I'm posting it here too just in case)

As the Commodore addressed him the whole room hushed and Cole felt like everyone was staring at him. This wasn't the welcome he had expected and he hadn't thought of anything to say to this. He kicked himself for not thinking this through. It was the first time in a long time since he had done that. Generally he knew what to say to everything and he had always thought things through. Now he was at a loss and felt stupid standing in the middle of the room. His gaze caught Alex's and he noticed her reaching into her pocket. He didn't realize how obvious it was that he was looking at her and her hand.

PD, you got it all right:
- Edward --> Lotty, Sam and Vari (he sailed with Sam and Vari long time ago)
- Lotty ---> Edward
- Sam ---> Edward, Emma
- Emma ---> Sam
- Vari ---> Edward, Sam, (Emma? Lotty?) ))
Sam looked kind of confused. "So ye just don't know what ye doin' here? Why ye are lookin' for her?" She shook her head. Sam always wanted to know everything and even that wasn't enough. It made her feel comfortable and in control but at the moment she wasn't too sure about the situation. She turned to Edward and repeated the question she posed to Lotty. "Your companion doesn't seem to know.." she added with a frown.

"Well?" Norrington demanded. He glanced at Alex but didn't notice her fumbling. It was almost dawn and James was exhausted, though he didn't show that. Emotion, lack of sleep and an overdose of pirates had wore him out. The boy in fron of him didn't know what to say and the Commodore frowned. Why didn't he know why he was here? _________________

Keyara frowned but remained silent, the only noise now was the crashing of waves against the hull. She did not look at Beckett, simply turning her gaze towards the window where the sapphire ocean looked back at her. "I don't know how you do it," she said, thinking about just how well the East India Company was run. All of the responsibility would have probably made one crack, but not Mr. Beckett.

Edward stopped in his tracks and turned around to face the others. “A few weeks ago, Vari was supposed to meet me in Tortuga. Said she had some kind of important news, but she ne’er showed up. I found Lotty at one of the taverns an’ she agreed to join me in findin’ her. I met up with a mutual merchant friend a few days later an’ he said he saw Vari traipsing ‘round Port Royal. So Lotty an’ I came ’ere in search for Vari.” He then turned to look at Emma with a brief smile. “I know it’s not the safest place to be, but the Applegate house will at least get us out of site from the redcoats. Cole will know what to do - trust me.” Edward gave Sam a concerned look, hoping she would understand. After all, she was the only other one that really knew Vari as well as he did, aside from those that died on Beckett’s ship when Vari’s ship, the Phoenix, was captured. They had been lucky enough to escape, but were lost with the tide. It had been ten years, but Edward still strongly trusted Sam and placed a hand on her shoulder. “Come on, we need to go now before the cover of nightfall is gone.”
[[I figured Vari would tell them about the Dead Man’s Chest, that way they know a little about it before we start DMC and the Jack plotline. Hope it’s okay, if not I can change it.  ]]

Sam nodded, now reassured "I wonder why Vari didn't show up.." she replied worried. "It's nothing like her not to show up and just disappear.." She noticed a shiver go down her spine as Edward lay a hand on her shoulder but she knew it wasn't the cold. She smiled quietly at him and looked back. "Em, are ye comin'with us? I'm sure it will be fine.." _________________

Lotty gave Sam a slight frown at all the continuing, demanding questions. How was she expected to know all of Edward's business? She had just been in a tavern when he came up and needed her help. And she never turned a friend away, especially when she wasn't doing something important herself. Lotty almost gave another, possibly slightly ruder response to Sam when Edward stepped in and gave it for her. "aye, that's how it stands." she gave Sam a quick look and noticed her and Edward getting close and talking. But she decided to not say anything.
Emma raised an eyebrow at Edward's incredible answer. She still had her doubts, but for now she would do something she hardly ever did and place her trust in Sam's friends.

Cole mentally kicked himself for coming so unprepared. And now in the spotlight his brain couldn't think of one thing to say except things that sounded childish. He could tell the Commodore was tired and had gone through a rough night, in fact so had he. Cole remembered he had spent the whole night outside and waiting for Edward to show up. That was why he had gone there. Partially to make sure Edward would make it to the house alright. "I was only passing by, Sir, and I heard a commotion so I came in to see what was wrong. Everything is alright, right?" he patted himself on the back for coming up with a good response and for regaining his senses. Not to mention, he might get to detain things a little longer for Edward. Cole felt a little bad about sneaking around the visibly already exhausted Commodore's back, but it had to be done.

Lord Beckett enjoyed the silence this intermission brought. It gave him time to regain his thoughts - although they had in fact actually not suffered much from their brief talk - and study Ms. Pierce even further. Beckett turned his gaze to where she was looking and watched the ocean roll by with her for a few moments. "do what?" he raised and eyebrow and gave her a quizzical and amused look.

The sun had hardly even begun to rise when there came a knock at Carmon's bedroom door. Being a light sleeper, Carmon was jolted awake suddenly by the sound of the knock and her mother's muffled voice coming through the door. She blinked and focused on Vari, who was still sleeping on the floor. "yes, I'm up." she waited and hoped that would be all and the door would not open and expose Vari yet. Alex smiled annoyingly when Norrington looked at her. She glanced at the soldiers, who were watching Norrington's exchange. She jammed the pin into the lock, waiting for the proper time to jimmy the lock.

The Commodore looked up at Cole's remark and frowned: "Where all pirates belong, mr Applegate. Good day.." Then he nodded to his soldiers. "Lets go gentlemen." Both soldiers took one arm of Alex and started to drag her to the door. Suddenly his eye - the brighter one of the two that is- fell on the pin in Alex' hands.
"Oi! Hold on!" he grabbed the pin from Alex' hands and sealed the lock again. "Commodore!" he exclaimed "Sir, look what she got." and he held the pin in the air like a kid who showed his parents a lollipop.
Norrington narrowed his eyes and decided she would be the first to hang but he remained calm and sad: "Search her.."
