Gilan noticed Halt glance at him, and he already had his bow and arrow half-way ready before the bandits lept from the shadows. He shot the arrow with great skill at a bandit coming from the rear towards the group and nailed him in the shoulder, and pulled out another arrow in order to take the man down, but then, another bandit's body had lept from the air and pushed Gilan off his horse and onto the group, with the bandits body on top of Gilan's.

Halt shot at the bandit that had pinned Gilan. Three arrows killed the bandit. He used his knees to guide his horse, as he searched around, looking for another bandit. One bandit was dreadfully daft and placed himself beneath the horses hooves, and as a ranger horse, the horse did not get confused but instead crunched down onto the bandit and the person was instintly dead.

Gilan pushed the lifeless body off of his own and jumped up, thanking Halt. "Thanks! I needed that, my friend!"

Halt nodded as he looked around. All the bandits were dead. He turned to Gilan, putting his bow away. "I wonder where they came from." He stated, wondering if they were bandits hired by someone to attack them.

"Or more so, who sent them." Drake said aloud, bending down to pick up him bloody dagger and then he looked down, knowing he was speaking out-of-turn. But Gilan clapped him on the shoulder. "That is a good thought, Drake. Nice work. Clean your blade and keep faith." Gilan mounted and Drake grinned at his teacher as he did as commanded.

Halt nodded at Drakes words. He then waited for the others to mount their horses so they could continue on their way.

Will pulled his arrow out of one of the bandits and put it back into his quiver. He mounted tug.

Halt trotted on Abelard into Celtica. It was almost deserted, except for a few stranglers who sprinted back into their homes the moment they were seen. Something had struck fear into their hearts. It was his job to stop it.

"You would find more happiness in a graveyard.*" Drake muttered, his mood changing quickly from the new, dead enviroment around him. Gilan just followed Halt, quietly, looking around, taking in everything that he might need later.
((* Sorry, I had to borrow Gimli's quote. It was simply brilliant in LOTR, and I thought it would fit nicely here.))
