Norrington scrambled to his feet and mumbled: "I'm quite alright." His dark eyes glanced for a moment at the face of the man in front of him. His appearance was quite familiar: Edward Blackhaven, a pirate most wanted but never caught. When he called out his name James quickly cast his eyes on the ground. His shaggy hair fell in front of his face and he mumbled: "I don't know where you are talking about. You must be mistaken."
James cursed himself for this attitude. He'd never cast his eyes down for someone else. Once he stood above this scum.. but all what was is lost. He'd lost everything.
((Sorry for the kind of sad-ish Norrie post but I'm kinda sad myself so it was quite a relief to write this ))

Barbossa chuckled at Vari's response; she had Jack nailed to a T. He knew there had been something he had always enjoyed about this girl, well, not always, but recently yes. He turned his glance to Jack and shook his head. A bumbling idiot Jack was at that. When he turned back to Vari he noticed that Sam had come up. He glared at her distastefully and took a drink. He "overheard" some of what was said between them and slowly stood up, "what be this now?"

Lord Beckett watched her and waited with as patient a look as he could muster. He was shocked and surprised when all of a sudden he was in her arms. He stood, still and ridged. He didn't return the hug because he wasn't quite sure how to respond. It was actually a bit uncomfortable for him.

Lotty stood back and watched everything that was going on. She tried to spot out someone she really knew and who would answer her. So much seemed to be changing as it was.

Cole followed Edward through the tavern and watched as his friend helped up on of the drunken pirates. He stood back and waited, glancing around the room to make sure his sister was still there. When he turned back, his gasp was simultaneous with Ed's when he recognized the Commodore's face.

Vari turned back to Barbossa. "Somethin' strange is goin' on outside," she said, quickly, standing up from the small table. "This place isn't safe any more..." She looked at Sam worriedly.

Keyara drew in a deep breath and sighed. She felt so much better now that she had gotten that out of the way. Her green eyes traveled up to his and she pulled away. "I'm sorry," she apologized, but stopped herself. With a final glance she drew her pistol and prepared for his signal.

Edward sat confused for a few moments, wondering if he had truly gone insane. Surely this man was the former Commodore, wasn't he? "No, you're James... ye have to be..." His face scrunched up and he looked extemely baffled.

Tia Dalma made her way over to Lotty's side and scanned the tavern. "There be some evil at work in this place, but what it be, I cannot tell..."

Elizabeth smiled and placed her arms around Will. "I was going out to get a breath of fresh air," she explained, "but, once I realized you cannot get a breath of fresh air in this place, I turned around to come back and apparently got lost."

Will laughed a little to what Elizabeth had said and nodded to her. "Alright, let's get out of here." He said softly to her, wrapped his arm around her shoulders and then slowly started walking out of the pub, not fully trusting what was going on there at the moment.

Barbossa silently listened to Vari. When she was done he slowly peered past her and glanced at the doorway as he thought. "and how do ye know this?" he turned back to her and his blue eyes bore into Vari's, "many uncanny things seem to go on in this town at night."

Beckett was relieved when Keyara finally pulled away. He felt as if he could relax now, there was something about that hug that had made him feel good, but even more so, strange and, well, horrible. He looked back at his men and only nodded in response to her. Beckett pulled out his gun, scanned the street for Mercer and, when he found him, nodded. This was the signal.

Cole looked over at Ed for a minute then back at the Commodore. suddenly, it dawned on him what had happened. He had heard about this, but at the time he had pushed it out of his mind. But what he now remembered was, Norrington had resigned his position after apparently making a very wrong choice and he had lost his ship and crew in the process. He placed a hand on Edward's shoulder and silently said, "aye, it's him, Ed." a sudden pang of sorrow filled him for the poor former Commodore.

Lotty jumped at Tia's voice. "oh," she forced a smile, "Tia." she furrowed her bow when she heard what the other woman had to say. "we should leave then?"

Sam answered Barbossa's looks by casting a cold glance at him but apparantly Vari was again in a conversation with the pirate. Impatiently she turned around and made way to Edward. She laid her hand on his shoulder and said in an irritated tone: "Vari is too busy with Hector. I'm takin' the backdoor Ed, are ye comin'?" She barely noticed Norrington in front of her, to her he appeared to be another drunk pirate, the inn seemed to be filled with them.

James looked up when he heard another familiar voice. “You!” he sneered as he recognised Cole. But he abruptly stopped speaking when a woman joined Blackhaven and Applegate. He had to get out of here otherwise all the pirates would look at him as if he was an extinct animal and laugh at his losses. "Get out of my way" he said and quickly made his way over to the door and opened it, only to hear a sudden volley of gunshots and to see a blur of red running to the entrance of the inn. He slammed the door shut and cursed. He suddenly felt sober again and pulled out his gun. He aimed for the door and waited..

Vari pushed through the crowd of people in the inn and made her way towards one of the windows. A gunshot or two was normal for Tortuga, but a volley fire? Turning back to Barbossa she replied, "Yes, but I don't think Redcoats are too common 'ere." Vari jumped onto one of the wooden tables and fired a shot into the air. "Oi! All of ye bloody bilge rats, listen to me!" She waited until it was relatively quiet to continue. "The Navy's 'ere! If ye don't want to be soaking in a puddle of blood by the end of tonight, I suggest ye grab a weapon, now!"
The group of drunks began loudly complaining and yelling at Vari to shut up. She jumped off the table just in time to miss a bottle someone had thrown at her head smash against the wall. Walking back over to Barbossa she said, "I don't think they're listenin'."

Edward grabbed Sam's arm and pulled her back behind him. "Don't go out there!" he called to Norrington who was reaching for the door. Edward pulled his own gun and caught word of what Vari was saying. "Sam, get back - don't get caught in the middle of this," he ordered sternly.

Tia walked a little distance away from Lotty. "We are too late... all of 'dis tarryin' has placed us in a deadly situation. Unless..." She stood contemplating for a few minutes. There was one thing she could do to get them out of here, but it was going to take some time and she didn't know when they would be able to get back, if they would be able to return at all...

Keyara watched as Beckett gave the signal and his men began breaking down the door of the tavern. She stayed towards the back of the group, her mind swimming with all of the outcomes of this. What have you gotten yourself into? Keyara questioned herself as she prepared a shot.

"Yes dad!" Sam replied with a smirk while she prepared her pistol and took her place next to Edward. "I ain't your daughter Ed. I've probably been shootin'more Redcoats than ye." Her voice was kind of resentfull, her eyes on fire and she wanted to say more. Sam couldn't care less that in a few seconds the tavern would be in chaos, even if the world would end, she was going to let Edward know he shouldn't fuss her.

"Hell no!" Norrington shouted back to Edward in a kind of euphoria which had always taken hold of him before a fight. "I'm going nowwhere. The fun starts here!"

(:erm: well, I was waitin' for others to catch up but.... ummm)
The instent Barbossa heard the shots and heard Vari, he was by the window looking out. He peered into the darkness as she tried to speak to the men in the inn. There was nothing to see outside but smoke and men and women running for cover. "Aye," he turned back to Vari, pistol drawn. He glared around the tavern for a few minutes before lumbering to the table Vari had just occupied. He stepped on a chair and then onto the table. The shot from his pistol rang through the tavern. "Now listen here, all of ye!" he paused here. When he didn't get the response he wanted he rolled his eyes and thought of something else, "All of ye! Do ye really want to die? Is there not one of ye sane enough to realize we're as good as dead if we don't pick up our weapons and fend off these smutty dupes? Now ye may not listen to the lady, but to me, ye shall!" the last part came out as more of a threat than anything else.

Cole stared at Norrington with a slightly offended look on his face. He didn't understand why the former Commodore should be upset with him, well, ok, maybe he did have a reason, but not much of one. Cole turned to look at her as Sam joined them. But he was quickly caught up in the commotion Edward and Norrington and Sam made, and shortly after that the bigger one Vari, the gun shots and Barbossa made. He drew out his pistol and once again scanned the room for Carmon. She was safe with her own pistol drawn.

Full of curiosity, Lotty watched Tia with a puzzled look on her face. "what do you mean?" she asked, "how do we get out without them catching us?" she looked back as she heard Barbossa's attempt to rouse the men. "they aren't even listening to Captain Barbossa."

Lord Beckett remained in the background all throughout the firing. He listened and watched as Mercer shouted out the orders. Pretty soon, he thought with a smug smile, the pirates will be running out begging for mercy. He glanced around for Keyara. She was in the back, which for some reason he found made him feel relieved.

Edward chuckled. “Would ye like to bet on that, Sam?” He asked as the first line of Redcoats spilled into the tavern. With deadly accuracy, Edward shot a tall, lanky soldier in the head and watched as he collapsed to the ground.

Vari nodded approvingly at Barbossa as he spoke to the men and women. Most of the half-sober ones listened to him, while the other drunks wobbled around as if nothing surprising was happening. Vari called up to him, “Leave ’em be, Hector! They’re not going to listen.” She drew her sword and loaded a shot in her pistol ready to kill anyone that got too near.

Tia drew in a deep breath and closed her dark eyes as she spoke in a language not many in the tavern knew. A strong gust of wind blew through the tavern, and each time she uttered a word, it grew louder and louder. Tia extended both of her arms and shouted more of the spell until a sound like the ripping of fabric occurred. Opening her eyes, Tia looked pleased as a bright vortex swirled in the middle of the tavern. Most of the people had run away and others looked upon her in fear.
Turning back to Lotty, Tia’s expression grew urgent. “Fetch the others, quickly, before it is too late!” She commanded while guarding the portal of blue light.

Keyara stepped inside in time to see the commotion happening with Tia. She stopped in her tracks as the witch conjured up some sort of vortex in the air. Turning around she called to Beckett, “You might want to see this, Cutler.”
[[We can bring in our Real Life charries once everyone is through the portal I guess. ]]

Jack spun around, dragging Mary Ann with him. Spoting the vortex, he knew immediately who had made it and what he must do. Charging forward, he lept through.
Mary Ann shook off of her uncle. "Uncle Jack! Stop! This is madness! You'll be killed!"
As Jack went through the vortex, he called back, "It's only madness if one is unprepared, love."
Gritting her teeth, Mary Ann followed her uncle through the glowing blue... thing
