Strider moved to the louder side of the room, sitting on a footstool. He finished his drink, then ordered a small piece of bread. He found it interesting that he could be so easily ignored, not really wanted. People don't have to care. And they sure do CHOOSE not to! He smiled slighlty.

With a suppressed sigh of relief, Amaran realized the man was not leaving the tavern entirely, just the woman who scorned him. He gave the man one last glare, and then slunk back over to the bar. He slipped into the seat he had just left, smiling at the woman beside him. On his other side was the strange Wolfen woman and the blind named Tristan. He listed hard, his ears open with curiosity.

Dax smiled back at the man as he came back and sat down at the bar, and finished off what remained of her ale. She started drumbing her fingers on the bar, listening to all the drunk men try to sing.

(( Über cool post Naur ))
Tristan remained silent for a moment, not sure what to answer. Was this then his opportunity to make up a small part of all the evil he'd done? Should he try to save the last Wolfens after betraying many?
"Tristan, I trust you."
What did Eavan know of trust? If she would learn more about him she would definately not trust her, he knew that for sure. "I'll then try to do everything that's in my power to help you." Tristan said and he looked at Eavan -at least, at the place where he thought her face was- and continued "Although it doesn't seem likely, I may be able to lead you the way."
This was his answer and immediately when he'd finished he realised he made the right decision. He was sure he had to do this. And even if he was to be discovered, it would be for the right cause. Then he would be fighting for the right reasons.
"Companions aye?" Tristan said and it seemed as if he was gazing through the inn although he was actually listening. The soft tones of the pipes played a melancholic tune and Tristan motioned to the source of the tones. "I spoke with the bard only for a few moments. Vondell is his name. He seemed to be a friendly man."

Vondell closed his eyes carefully played the song. He blew across the opening of each of the reed tubes that were of different lengths, making the different notes. The tubes were tied side by side with a golden cord with carvings of vines. Nelnya, the golden fire lizard, sat on his shoulder closest to the wall and watched the tavern from under Vondell's hair.
The lady with the scar is sure attracting attention, Nelnya said to Vondell. Can we go see why? No, Von replied in his head.
Why? Because as a bard, we play, not interfere with other's offairs unless pulled into it or given the opportunity by said other with the offair, Vondell's mind went all to his music when the song called for a trill, which wasn't very easy on pipes. Nelnya went quiet at that, but her curiosity still wasn't satisfied and she kept watched the two at the table across the taver from under Vondell's hair. Over the hubbub of the drunks, the fire lizard's acute hearing could only just pick up the louder syllables which mainly were the S's, C's, and T's...

Eavan sighed inwardly in relief. He agreed to help her, even though he was reluctant.
"Thank you."
Was all that Eavan could think to say. Her mind was reeling and the wheels in her head (even though many were tilted or broken or cracked) began to turn. She might actually be able to save her brother.
"The bard? He was one of my choices. I have been looking people over all night, and I choose you, the bard, and the man and woman sitting over there...and maybe even the rude man. I haven't decided about him yet. Would you be willing to go and talk to the bard for me as I go and ask for the two companions at the bar?"

A smile crept across Amaran's face. It was slight and well hidden, but a smile none the less. He picked at a loose thread on his tunic, waiting for the woman to approach him.

"If you want me to, I will" Tristan nodded. She was obviously relieved by his decision but, if shadow hadn't concealed his face, one could have read the the same relief on his face although his blank, grey eyes didn't give him away.
He grabbed his cane in order to make his way through the crowd but then suddenly turned back to Eavan. "Thank you" he said prompt with a smile and left for the other side of the inn.
While crossing the room he resolved never to visit an inn again: a couple of drunkards had discovered the funny man with the walking stick. The first blocked his path, laughing like a drain while the second grabbed his cane. Anger welled up inside Tristan as the men were laughing and jeering at him. Eventually he pulled his dagger and turned from left to right but didn’t know where to place the drunkards so instead he lowered the weapon, afraid to harm an innocent bystander. He gritted his teeth and just remained standing silently, waiting for them to get bored.

Vondell had just finnished his song on the pipes with Nelnya chirped loudly in his ear, startling him. Vondell reached back and caressed Nelnya's smooth hide to calm her down and looked around to see what the trouble was. A few drunks were messing with Tristan. Usually the bard didn't care or get into things like that in taverns, but Tristan was nice, and another thing, he was blind. It was injustice to even taunt such a man.
Vondell put his pipes back in his pouch and got up out of his seat. He walked up to the two men.
"Excuse me, sirs. But may I inquire why you see it fun to pick on those weaker than you?" he asked the one standing in Tristans way. He turned, infuriated.
"No you may not ask, bard. This's none of yeah buisness, now is it? Go back to y'ar playin'," the man said with a broad grin. Vondell sighed a dug into his pouch. He pulled out two coins and handed them to the man.
"Go buy you and you're friend a drink. And leave the kind man alone," Vondell said. The man sneered at him and snatched the two coins away. His buddy threw Tristan's cane to the ground and followed the one with the coins to the bar.
Vondell picked up the cane and held it out so the handle end touched Tristans palm.
"You alright Tristan?"

Strider watched as the blind man, known as Tristan, went over to the bard. What is she doing? He asked himself. He had tried to read her lips, one of his many skills, but had failed for the lack of his eyesight. Still, he deeply regretted sounding so rude to her, for he hadn't learned her name even before his head was snapped off. Strider had had full intentions of going over to make a new ally, but still his abruptness got him into the opposite of what he wanted, an enemy. Strider smiled to himself at the plain relief and nervousness on the woman's face. She is scared. Why? He wondered. He felt somewhat comforted that this woman felt a little uneasy too, as a human should.

(( Your post was good GH! ))
"Von?" Tristan asked upon hearing the familiar voice. When he felt the touch of wood against his skin he grateful took his cane back. "I am thank you." Together with Vondell he made his way over to his old seat, without any trouble.
Quietly he sat down, feeling a little uneasy but then spoke his mind. "You really shouldn't have helped me. As you said, they find a weak target in me now, something I try not to be. I've experienced those things before, one should just let them pass" His hand found Vondell's arm, after groping twice in midair, and patted him on the shoulder. "I am thankful though... And I have a message, from the lady you probably have noticed earlier."

Von settled himself again on his stool, facing Tristan.
"I know I shouldn't have, and usually I don't interfere in things like that. But usually I don't get to know the patrons," he said with a grim smile. Then Tristan mentioned the woman.
"A message? From the lady all the sober people seem to have an intrest in with the scar?"

Eavan took a deep breath and stood, leaving her cloak on her chair. She walked up to the bar and sat at the empty chair to the right of the young man that caught her eye eariler, ordering another drink from the bartender, even though she had no intention of drinking it. Trying to make it seem casual and as unawkward as possible, she asked the man, without glancing over,
"Nice night, is it not?"
After she finished talking, she glanced over at him, which she should not have. He might have looked nice from a distance, but from up close...Eavan could feel her cheeks grow redder as she looked at his fac, trying to see his eyes.

"I can assure you that she's not my patroness. I only met the lady tonight" Tristan replied after he'd mused on Von's words. "A scar you say? I'm afraid I can't be too helpful with specifics on that area." A faint smile appeared on his face and he motioned with an amazing precision over to the bar to the exact spot where Eavan was standing at that moment. "She's quite young judged from her light voice, foreign to this region.. and she's in trouble." Tristan leaned over to Vondell, dropped his voice so only the bard was just able to hear him. "She's one of the last Wolfen."

Vondell didn't react at first. He let this information sink in first before he reacted.
The woman, this wolfen, who I don't even know the name. Who I haven't seen all of her face clearly even, is trusting me with this bit of information? Vondell tossed the thought in his mind a little bit.
You've met Tristan, he could have put in a good word for you, Von heard Nelnya's voice in his mind.
But... why would she want Tristan to tell me this? Ask him.
Von turned to the man, his eyes now full of shocked curiosity.
"A wolfen?" his voice was as low as Tristan's, if not lower. "Why, may I ask, would I be told this? Random pick?"

He could feel her eyes burn holes in his head as she spoke. Lifting his eyes to meet hers, Amaran smiled. "Yes it is. Very clear, very brisk. Its the Dark Moon, so all the stars are out. Quite lovely." Gazing into her clear blue eyes, he again felt the strange wildness he had felt when he first saw Tao, all those years ago. "Too lovely, infact, to spend all of it in this stuffy room. I'd best be going" His grinned widened as he got up from his stool.
