Terrick was one of the men of Dale by Grair. He used his bow with much practiced skill. In his head he counted down how many arrows he had left in the quiver on his back. Beside him was a quiver that was already empty of arrows.
22, 21, 20, 19.

He made every shot count, since ruthless shooting would waste arrows in this uneven battle. He heard the cry that the two Lords had fallen. When hope was there left, now? The mountain would not long fall into ruin under the hands of the Easterlings...

Deawen rode her palomino steed as fast as possible her sword strapped to her back. She expertly rode around skirmishes and fallen soldiers still keeping her pace. Her small horse was drenched in sweat and the rider was spattered with mud and blood. She was a messenger of sorts, recently promoted to the task of warning the rest of the Erebor forces of what was coming at a fast pace. She searched for a young dwarf though she had no idea what he looked like. " Garson Stonehammer!" She shouted over the clang of battle. " My Lord Garson Stonehammer!" she shouted again turning her horse around in tight circles. She was cut off from crying out again by several Easterlings. Deawen drew her long sword and urged her steed forward, then raised her blade up as if to slice downwards, the Easterling parried but Deawen changed her tactic at the last moment, thrusting the blade under the Easterling's guard.

Garson brought his hammer down on a wounded Easterling's skull when he heard his name being called. The dwarf quickly ran over to the woman on a palomino horse.
"I be Garson Stonehammer. Why do you look for me?" He said, turning to parry a blow from another Easterling that came at him with a broad sword...

Deawen's horse reared up knocking down one easterling while Deawen delt with a second. She looked around when she heard a responce to her calling. " I was sent to warn you that there are more Easterlings on the way, our defenses were breached south from here, no one is left of that garrison!" she shouted spinning her horse again.

Grair watched as the battle escalated, no longer able to wait he returned his bow to his back and unsheathed the two axes at his hips. Twirling them once he broke out into a run to meet his first opponent, blocking the Easterling first swordstroke he brought his axe to the man's skull. The man dropped and did not move again.

The half-Elf still stood in the midst of the battle, yelling at anyone who dared near her. She had long since forsaken her sickles and sheathed them at her side, she now only bore a small dagger, which was used more to block. The small circle of bodies around her nearly all had a broken neck.

Anira cursed under her breath as news reached her of the fallen Lords. What hope had they for victory now? Shaking her head, she forced herself to clear her mind from such morbid thoughts-such thinking never did any warrior well in battle. Paring two blows from her opponents with her twin daggers, she glared at the Easterling warriors meancingly before running each through. Sidestepping one attack, she locked her blades with another solider for a brief moment before burying her daggers within the opponent's flesh.

The dwarf lady awoke from unconsciousness. Her head ached horribly and blood poured down her cheek. Everything she could see was war. It seemed as if all those people were fighting against each other, as if there were no friends and allies. Then suddenly someone took her shoulder and pulled her up. "Are you okay?", the unknown dwarf asked her. "Probably", she mumbled and then pulled her sword out with a sigh. "It's not over yet, eh?", she smirked sarcastically and then nodded towards the dwarf. She clenched her teeth, trying to ignore the pain, and walked towards the battle. All over the floor there were dead bodies, some still twitching oder sighing. Her steps became faster and faster, wanting to leave that place, the dead bodies that seemed to be alive and the alive that were on the edge of living and death.

A cry awoke her from her thoughts. The two Lords were dead. She had to swallow to hold her tears back. How could that happen?, she asked herself and then she swung her head with all the anger that was inside her. A loud scream came out of the bottom of her heart and she ran forwards to meet her enemy.

" Where is Lord Dain and King Brand?" she asked, " I must get these tidings to them!" she shouted just as an easterling tried to dragg her from her saddle. " No!" she growled dropping her sword, her charger brought it's thick neck around sinking dull teeth into the easterlings side. IT gave Deawen the extra second she needed, she drew a thin dagger from her belt and plunged it into the man's neck.

Maethoriel gave a laugh as another Easterling fell to the ground at her feet. One man actually managed to land a blow to her leg, which served to make her angry, with a vicious snarl she twisted the man's arm to render him helpless and deftly slit his throat then dropped him unceromoniously to the ground.

The dwarf was locked in a battle with two Easterlings, they had ganged up on him after he had slain a man he could only assume had been close to the two. Neither of them were very adept fighters, but they were annoyingly persistent. He ducked under one's blade to bring his axe to the second's side and the brought it back to the first's. Both fell, but he didn't wait to see if they were completely gone, his attention was only brought up by the sounding of the kings' deaths. He cursed under his breath, but could not allow anymore time as the battle still raged around him.

Garson huffed at the news and shook his head. What hope was left. Then the girl called for the Lords.
"Dain, king under the mountain, and Lord Brand have fallen! It seems we are being driven back to the keep of the Lonely Mountain," he called up to Deawen...

An awful feeling in her stomach formed quickly. " What?" she hissed, forgetting she was in the middle of a battle. " THen who is in command!?" she asked surpressing her emotions. She was tireing fast, not used to the continuous fighting of battle. Luckily there was a brief silence, " We can't stay here if more easterlings are on the way!" she said looking at Garson.

Grair and Maethoriel met up again in the battle, each happy to see the other was alive. "Took you long enough dwarf!" The half-elf shouted over the den of the battle. "Watch your tongue, lass. I have save you quite a few times in this battle already, whether you know it or not. I should be getting a thanks," he responded while ducking under and Easterlings blade and bringing one of his axes to the man's gut. Maethoriel finished the doubled over man by stabbing him with her knife, "Many thanks, Master Dwarf," she said sarcastically. Grair looked about at his kinsmen and the men of Dale, "We are being pushed back, our troops are hopeless at the sound of our loss," he said in a matter-of-fact tone.

Garson stood there, a loss for words.
"Aye, we should get back to the stronghold of the Mountain. Lady, would you ride along the ranks and tell all to fall back? No hope is left for this battle," he said, swinging his hammer around to knock down an Easterling...

Anira growled both in anger and frustration. The tide was descending upon them. For each Easterling she slew, it seemed that two others stepped forward to take his place. She knew it would only be a matter of time before she would forced to give more ground. Suddenly she let out a slight cry as the blade of an Easterling cut into her shoulder. Nearly dropping her daggers, she staggered back only to receive a harsh booted kick to the ribs that sent her to knees.

"Time to die, woman" an Easterling warrior muttered as he raised his sword for the killing blow. Instinctively grabbing one of her throwing daggers, she swiftly tossed the weapon at her attacker with her good arm, embedding the blade in the Easterling's stomach. Taking advantage of the distraction, she grabbed her daggers once more and tossed herself back into the fray.

Deawen nodded and spurred her already sweat soaked horse forward. " fallback!" she shouted to all the warriors of Erebor and Dale. " fall back!"

Grair heard the command as it rippled through the battle lines, it was only a few moments before he saw the armies making the way back. "Maethoriel, you heard them," he called to his friend. Nodding the woman finished off the last of her opponents and made a few steps back to her friend, "Aye, I heard. Come on," she responded, sheathing her dagger and removing a sickle in case she had to cut a path. "Not too much damage?" she questioned looking down to the dwarf. "Nay, I'm fine, you?" he returned. She nodded and pressed onward, "I'm well."
