I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think it said anything about how the elves aged. I may have missed it. It did say that they considered a year 144 years, but it doesn't say how they aged.

i never noticed that.... all i know is they don't get old only wiser and more beautiful (but wait! can leggy actually get any better looking?  )

I looked it up, and at first Tolkien said that elves aged slower, and that a twenty year old elf would appear about 7, but then he said that they mature at the same rate as humans, and when they reach maturity they just kinda stop aging.

Yes, I know that they are "ready"( for marriage and all) when they are about 50. I've read that somwhere.
