The barge moved slowly and deleberatly. IT was still dark out, the water was jet black and sky a dull gray. THe wolfmen spoke in harsh low voices to each other, ignoring thier captives almost all together, save to unbound their hands. No human in their right mind would attempt to jump into the ice water, knowing full well that anyone that did would die before reaching the shore. Eston braved moving from the side of the barge to the center to Deawen. he slowly lowered the blindfold, knowing full well Deawen may mistake him for a foe. He couldn't stand seeing her in such fear. Deawen stared at him with her blue eyes blankly.
After hours of endless water and icy shore, the barge finally stopped at a pier, beofre unloading it's captives the wolfmen bound their hands again. then herded them off the barge. They marched up a slope to a ravine, down below was an expansive, impressive citidel made of ice and stone. Deawen felt her stomach drop, but kept walking. When they came to the gate they were instantly allowed entrance, Deawen felt a strong presence fill every point in her body. It was not malnavolent, just overwhelming. They stopped in the courtyard, but things happened too fast for Deawen to comprehend. She felt herself being moved away from the others slowly at first, but she caught on to the trick and began to fuss, " Sen!" she shouted in vain. She struggled with her captor, but was overpowered and drug off to a side corridor. Eston too began to wrestle with his bonds, but the others were being pushed to the main corridor to a large hall.

" Sen!" Deawen shouted again and again, she wasn't sure where she was at this point, all she knew was they were going up. At the top of the stairs was a second corridor that led to a single door, she was pushed through the door into a small room and locked inside. SHe wasn't sure why she was singled out from all the others, it made no sense.

Anira said nothing as her hands were rebound tighter than before as they came to a pier. I will not show them my fear, she vowed silently, determined to not display any sign of weakness before her captors. As they walked up the ravine she stared straight ahead, neither looking around her, nor behind her-her lips sets in a determined line. As they came to the courtyard she stood impassively, her blue eyes hard. She felt herself being led to the main corridor to a large hall and still to did not harbor any resistance.

"Sen!" Deawen's voice broke through her thoughts when suddenly she realized that the woman was being separated from the group. Now struggling with her captor, she put as much forth as much resistance as her physical frame could handle-but it was no use. The wolfman grinned wickedly, clearing amused by the futility of her struggles as he shoved her forward. "Where are you taking her?" she demanded of her captors. "Unhand me!" she commanded, briefly toying with the idea to use her magic as a distraction.

((OOC: I deeply apologize for my recent absence from the RP, both to Deawen, and all others involved. Since I have missed so much action and important events, would it be better to simply have my character have been killed off by one of the wolfman before you all boarded the barge?))

(certainly not! :jawdrop: just jump in, we are technically starting new segment really now that we are at the castle. You may have been absent but by no means forgotten.)
I shall now describe to you the hall in which you have been taken to.

The hall was made of glistining ice. Colunms of ice braced the dome of crystal ice. The hall was very large, large enough to hold two hundred people. At the far end of the rows of Ice colunms was a large dias, seated upon that was the Winterking. When standing he was twice the size of a regular man, his skin was a shimmery gray and his hair was white as snow. His expression was even and slightly cold, but no sense of malice was seen. Just below the Dias was a pool of clear water, black with stillness. The wolfmen left the hall quickly leaving their captives to the winterking. " Come here." the Winterking siad his voice booming and echoing in the hall.

A moment after the booming voice of the Winterking stopped echoing in the hall, Morwen felt herself say, "And you, weather-witch! Think not of your powers-they will not work. The air is too dry, too cold for rain, even for snow, and too cold for even lightning to take hold in the air. I bid you all, approach!" She stood and could not resist the urge to walk towards the dias. Even as she lost control of her body, she felt her mind snap back into focus. "No!" she screamed. The Winterking spoke as himself, "I thought you had had enough. No more!" She fell to the floor once more, and the torture resumed, this time on memories of conversation. "Gástcwalu!" she cried, writhing on the floor. The memory was of her first conversation with Eohric. She could feel the king trying to warp it and destroy it, but he could not. She saw the scene playing in her head; Eohric said, "Geblǽdfæstnes æt a adesa? Forsoothe?" (Success with a hatchet? Really?) She answered, "A ǽlc ceorl or gefǽmne su geágnod!" (To each man or woman his own!) The memory of sparring for the first time. Try as he might, the Winterking could not meddle it. After three tries, he resorted violence. One of the wolf men came and hit her savagely over the head with a club. All went red then black.

Deawen's shoulder hurt from hitting the door repeatedly. The room was dark, cold and made of ice and stone. Deawen stretched her hand out and created a small flame in the palm of her hand. It quickly sputtered and died. The air was very dry and cold. Deawen sat in the corner exausted and hurt.

"Morwen!" Anira cried in horror as she saw what the wolfman had done. She then her eyes upon the winterking, hate filling the very depths of her soul. "Oh, Winterking, be wary of whom you cross," she said her voice low and icy. "Hollow is the throne indeed which is built upon the very back of forced servitude-for it only takes a spark to ignite the very fires of malcontent." she uttered, forgetting her place before him. "Tell me," she added, "why have you taken our companion, the Lady Deawen?"

*Sen shivvered as he was dragged through the castle. The ice was beginning to get to him. It was too cold. Yet... He looked down. Everything was made of it. Ice could melt. Perfect. Though he could not do anything yet, Sen smiled slightly as he was dragged before what he thought to be the Winterking. Deawen had been separated from him; he could only dimly feel her through this strange ice. It was playing havoc with him. Yet one thing was for sure. He was angry.*
Winterking, we came to you first in peace. I ask you this; where have you taken Lady Deawen, and what did you do to Morwen? I ask this calmly, but my patience is fast running out, Winterking...

Imlosiel stood weakly next to Anira, in shock from both the sight of seeing Morwen tortured so, and from the piercing chill that pervaded the hall. Her mouth was set into a hard thin line, her eyes wide with fear, and her fists so tight that her fingernails dug into her palms out of fright as she awaited the Winterking's answer to Sen's inquiry.

Anira waited in silence, feeling the chill creep within her very being. I won't let him see any weakness, she vowed to herself. Clenching her fist, she glanced around the icy hall-wondering if anything could be used as a weapon if the need should arise. She did not trust the intentions of the Winterking, and his guise of politeness kept her on edge.

The Winterking stood up an odd expresion on his face. " Lady Deawen is not with you?" he asked towering above them.
" She was with you crossing the lake?" he asked, he seemed to be vexed with anger, but his voice did not betray it. He scanned the small group.
"Malgar!" he shouted his voice shaking the very foundations of the hall. A tall man with black eyes stroad into the hall with as much grace as any noble. He bowed deeply to the WInterking. " Is there a good reason Lady Deawen of the Westfolde is not present?" THe WInterking asked with little venom. The Man remained perfectly calm. " Lady Deawen was ill when she arrived I thought that maybe a rest would be nessesary for her..." he bowed again. The Winterking frowned and sat back down. " Bring her anyway" he ordered. Malgar bowed deeply again and backed out of the hall, giving a swift glare to the group.
Eston bent over Morwen trying to wake her. He was troubled by her outbursts but he felt she was treated with too much malice.

Deawen had begun to drift off to sleep, thinking of her only time of peace. When the door creaked open. A man entered swiftly, Deawen woke instantly as the presence she had felt before became strong, like thick acrid smoke. Deawen tensed " who are you?" Deawen asked standing up, the man ignored her question. " Out" he said forcefuly. Deawen walked proudly to the door then slipped out the door ready to bolt. She felt a strong gripp lock onto her arm. " Don't try it" the man said deathly serious. THey walked down the corridor in complete silence, to the great hall, once inside the hall Deawen saw Sen her heart jolted she was now more eager to step forward. The presence quickly went from oppressing to engergizing and electrifing. Malgar held onto Deawen's arm with an iron grip slowing her down. Deawen was ready to retaliate, she spun around attempting to hit him in the neck, Malgar caught her hand swiftly Deawen twisted her arms and dove to the ground taking him with her. He growled at her as she got to her feet and bolted towards Sen. The Winterking stood up and the electrifying presence increased to the point Deawen stoped dead in her tracks. She stared at Sen then up at the winterking.

( stirring things up a bit)
Everything happened too fast for Deawen. One minute she was infront of both Sen and the Winterking his presence was overpowering. She felt her her own will nearly evaporate as if it was trying to get her to lower her defenses. She felt weak minded as if with a bad cold, she couldn't think without feeling weighted. She steeled her mind as best she could, feeling the usual disgust she felt when ever she was in the presence of a authority higher than her own. Headstrong was the term her father used, when she refused to bow down to his authority. In the next whirl of events she was seated in a smaller hall, at a table made of ice or glass she couldn't tell it was crystal clear and cold. her companions where with her yet she felt distant from them. Sen was seated next to her, she wanted to reach out and touch his hand but found her body wouldn't react to her minds wishes. What is wrong with me? she kept asking herself. Fodd was before her but she had no will to eat. The winterking sat at the head of the table, seeming pleased with the company. His gaze turned to each of his guests in turn. " How do you like the roasted duck, Lady Anira?" he asked at one point.

Anira found herself barely able to keep pace with the events that surrounded her. One minute, they were led before the Winter-king and separated from Deawen, now she had been brought back to them, which was a relief to her, but now they had been led to a dining hall were food was placed before them. As time passed by, Anira felt her resistance to the king's power draining-as if she was no longer in control of her own thoughts. She had been defiant before, but with each moment that passed them by-she could feel her will weakening. She could few a dark presence entering her mind, probing it as if searching for whatever secrets she kept that may time be used against her or her friends. She battled it as best as she could, yet she knew that she could only hold out so long before its power would overcome her.
Whether it was due to the thin thread of fight she had left within her or physical fatigue she found that she had little appetite. She glanced at the Winter-king as he addressed her. "It is well, lord." she replied tactfully. "Though I must admit regretfully that I have little appetite at the moment..."

THe Winterking nodded as if understanding Anira's loss of appetite. " The cold often has that effect on those who are not used the bitterness." he answered carefuly. He glanced at Deawen who even thought felt her mind being tapped and probed sat passively. She was confident that no matter who hard the presence tried, it would not succeed inter her inner most thoughts. She didn't have the strength to defend her entire mind, so like a tactiful general she left a burn path, allowing the presence to occupy the undefended part of her mind, mainly memories and thoughts. The rest she kept behind the adamant and steel trap.
The Winterking found this amusing as he probed and touched her mind finding the weaknesses. He found very little but Deawen's greatest weakness was sleep. He mused over the idea, taking a sip of wine and looking over his guests. Suddenly the presnece dropped like cold ice. Deawen perked up and was perfectly aware of the situation, she didn't like theoutcome. She mentally touched Sen's mind, hoping for a responce.

By this time, Morwen was inured to the presence and found herself feeling more aware at the table. She took advantage of the Winterking's focus on Deawen and pushed back at the pressure that filled her head. She pulled back for a moment and did not feel herself overwhelmed. She fought and threw him from her mind. Only at the last moment did she feel any resistance; and what she did feel was slightly amused. The last words she heard in her mind were, "Do nothing drastic, human!"

(Sorry I have been away for so long...)
*Sen restrained his emotions at the rough arrival of Deawen; the situation was already tenuous as it was. So when she came to him, he held her hand tightly, not wanting to show any overt affection. Not wanting to show any weakness in this duel of intelects. Something was amiss here, and the only way he could discover what it was is from a position of strength. As they were ushered into the hall for dinner, he took time to see what areas of the keep he could make out from the corridors they were following, mapping an escape if necessary. The dinner began, and Sen ate heartily, though politefully. He needed to recover as much strength as he could should things go south. He felt the briefest touch of Deawen's mind on his, and let her in. It was cold on the outside, as if the stasite was still affecting him, but he offered her a glimpse of the inferno that lay beneath. Though still slightly weak, he was restored to his full power. The tables were turning, as he awaited the inevitable search of the Winterking...*
