I happen to be in touch with the owner of Blanco (Shadowfax), who I personally consider to be an "actor" in the films. He is quite extraordinary and meeting him and getting a "horsey" hello from him was, in my opinion, quite an honor! Anyway, her name is Cynthia Royal and she has a message for all LOTR lovers and lover's of Shadowfax. I was asked to pass it along:
A snippet of what we’ve been up to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQbdyE9Lvpw
Enjoy and pass on – the more hits it gets, the more support we get from the Cosequin folks J
~ Cynthia
This, of course, all benefits our beloved Blanco, who is in the vid. Enjoy and support our Shadowfax!

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! So, you've been watching! I'm impressed! If I told you all of the folks that I've had the privilege of meeting.....well, I'm sure that you would REALLY flip your lid!!! Let's just say that I've had a VERY, VERY good time with LOTR!!!! If I may brag just a little, since you noticed....my 50th Anniversary Edition of LOTR is signed by 10 actors, including Mr. Royd Tolkien, AND is signed IN ELVISH by Mr. Daniel Reeve! Can we all say "MY PRECIOUS!!!!"? My LOTR Symphony Poster is signed by Mr. Howard Shore AND Mr. Alan Lee!!!! Another "Precious!" Yes, I have had a very good time!

well definitely.. you could really call yourself privileged. I'll probably never get to meet any of those people, because they don't live in my country and I have neither time nor money to travel so far (at least not in the near future..)

I've been away from this board for a while now, and in that time I've been nose-to-nose with our wonderful big white guy! Yes, Blanco aka Shadowfax has been on tour in the Midwest and is now back home in California. If any have an interest in seeing him, please let me know or click on the link in my siggy. If this board allows and you are interested, I could post a picture....

Hey, really cool! I would so love to have a horse like those int he movie. It's so hard to get a good horse that behaves so well.
Having worked with horses I really admire the horses in LOTR because I have an idea of what it took to get them to act so perfectly!

You are so right! It must have be really something riding Shadowfax without anything except a neckrein! I have ridden useing a neckrein -- although only at a trot!!!
(btw, I like you sig Jax Nova! )

Yeah, neck reins make it that much harder. We have an old horse we sued to ride (she is to old to ride now) and you could ride her with just a neck rein... but you could also ride her without a bride and just push on the side of her neck with your hand or a stick and she would turn. (unless she decided she didn't want to for some reason )
So yeah...if you get a good horse it's not to bad, but it always adds some dificulty.
(Thanks )

I know... you ought to try riding a sweet-wild Arabian in a neckrein!! Woo hoo! Or should I say Who Ho! (sorry that was really bad)
Actually, I only ride in a halter, so it isn't that big of a jump to neckrein. Fortunatly, my horse is really responsive!
(It makes me laugh every time I see it!

Haha... I don't know if I woudl trust an Arabian. They are gergious horses, butnever got the chance to work with one. From what I hear, though, they can be a bit tempermental.
Our horses are all quarter horses (except one half quarter horse and half thoroubred (sp?) )used for hearding cattle... so we have to have bits in their mouths. (sometimes to turn sharp other times because they'r just dadgum stuborn!)
