Alena blushed slightly, pleased by his words. Normally she did not take any compliments from males to heart, less it was about her fighting, but with Xavier it was different. She would not deny that she liked the handsome man, that she had hoped they would meet again. “ I thank you, but beauty or not, when has it been safe to travel alone these days?” she asked him with a sly smile. “And as you can see I am not traveling completely alone. Thalion goes with me” she said as she indicated the lion beside her.

"To a hidden glade, a short distance from here in the woods yonder." Alena replied as she indicated the forest behind them. "I found it as a young girl with Thalion when my tribe passed this way." she added. "Even my brother does not know of it and I am thankful he does not, or else I would not have a place where I can seek sanctuary." she said wryly. "It's a beautiful place, surprising undisturbed by the battles that rage around it. Would you like to come?" she asked him.

Alena shrugged. "I love my brother dearly, but he can be a bit-how do you say it-overprotective? Oh, he will probably figure out where I go sooner or later, or this one here will probably take him to the spot one day," she said as she indicated the lion. "It would not be the first time that he has done so..." she paused for a moment as she studied Xavier. "You probably are wondering why I am trusting you. In truth, I do not know myself. It has been so long since I have trusted someone outside of my tribe...." Ever since my parents were betrayed by another human to the Paleds to be exact, she thought to herself, but made no mention of it. "But for some reason, I do trust you Xavier." she added, a little more softly.

Xavier listened to her words, with almost a grim smile on his face. The way she talked about her brother reminded him much of himself talking about his brother. The one who should have been leader of the trive now, not him. His older brother was a predegy, while Xavier was the shadow. That was back before he had lost all his family. His elf father and human mother.
"At least someone in your tribe trusts me. But don't think you owe me for earlier. It was just a small favor," he said, his smile turning more friendly. With a curt bow he added. "I would be honored to come with you."

"Perhaps to you it is only a little thing, but to me it is not," she said quietly, a small smile tracing her lips. "Come then," she added. With that she led him down a fairly straight path. Though they had to push some low-hanging branches out of their way, the path was easy enough to follow, and could easily be walked in the darkness for the most part. Upon arriving at the destination, Alena pushed back the last of the braches to reveal a clear glade. A brook flowed through, its clear waters surrounded by emerald green grass that painted a picture of serenity. With that she stepped into the glade with Thalion by her side and sat upon a large boulder as Thalion stretched out upon the grass. Giving Xavier a brief smile, she then turned to stare at the clear water before her as she breathed in the fresh air, feeling herself to be at peace for the moment.
