Diff'rent strokes for Diff'rent folks as they say.
On another note, I'm growing quite fond of Bizet. I blame Little Einsteins

HA HA HA! You know, I actually would've been shocked to hear that the Oh-Wise-Phoenix did NOT like classical music.
And on the subject of operas...it really depends for me what it's like. If it's all that "shrieking" as described by teh Eru, then yeah...I turn it off and run away. Fast. But sometimes it's cool. Not that I ever understand what's being said. XD

me neither. But then it's really hard for the singers to sing so loudly and also such complicated melodies and then even try to sing the lyrics in an understandable way.
But I'm not the biggest fan of opera nor of Wagner anways.

I'm sure most other people percieve me as some sort of rampaging berserker
Maybe that's why I like Wagner so much? *ponders* lmbo

bizet's carmen is awesome. the reorchestration that matthew bourne used for the car man is wonderful too - it was arranged by terry davies using rodion schedrin's carmen suite and other piees by bizet, and the arrangement is purely instrumental which means no vocals to distract from the awesomeness of the music.

I've not had a chance to listen to all of Carmen. But I love the feel of the music that I have heard. I never thought I'd see the day a kids tv program inspired me to listen to music.

Heh, I listen to Classical. ^_^ Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach are my three favourites, and then Tchaichovsky. Mozart and Beethoven have some awesome pieces, and Bach composed a lot of amazing things for the cello, which definitely means that he is/was amazing as well. ^_^

What? What's wrong with Bach? His cello suites, at least, aren't repetitive. His cello stuff is awesome. And I just like Beethoven's stuff. ^_^

oh yeah, Bach is really good as well. God there are so many composers I like. Not to forget Chopin e.g. I went to a piano concert last night and they played some pieces of Chopin's and they're just beautiful

I like Classical as well - even though I mostly just listen to soundtracks.
I play viola (come join the viola quest world domination! ) and piano.
I especially like Debussey's Claire De Lune and Vivaldi's Four Seasons. There are some really nice quartets that are good too...like there's this Quartet in D Major that one group played at camp, but I forgot who it was by...
But I heard this one song today and I was like 'I know this song, I know this song! But what's it from????' and then I remembered...it was the one we had to do for the 'exerpt' part of the WYSO auditions...Russian Sailor's Dance. Of course I would know it after playing it a gazillion times....I felt dumb then. But it's a good song..

I love almost anything classical except the music after Schönberg - this atonal stuff drives me mad.
