Oh no, you didn't. Don't worry . But yeah, we saw the Inconvenient Truth in class too. I'm just amazed by how much resistance there is to global warming awareness. Like almost all of my friends don't think global warming exists and they think that if we're going to have to stop global warming, we have to go back to the Stone Age. So I'm like the outcast in that field.

We watched an inconvenient truth at school, too. I think it made many people aware of the problem, yet I doubt that they will change anything in their lives. Everyone here in Germany knows climate change exists and luckily our government is already doing something about it, yet I think it's not enough.

wow that's such a cool thing to do. I'd love to do something like that as well. Unfortunately our school is not very active concerning those things.. In fact my school isn't active in any out-of-class-activities

oh ok that's why you said that you were doing ballet.. I completely misunderstood that.
But still it's really cool.. well, I could never do ballet. I'm just not flexible enough..
But I couldn't agree with you more. We really do need more "crazy" people. Good on ya

I did ballet when I was really young, like 2 or 3 years old, but I got Mono so I stopped and that was the end of my Ballet career. I kind of bummed, but oh well. I started Belly Dancing at 4 and kept with it.
But... back on topic. I have looking into doing something with Greenpeace and looking for Enviromental Clubs at the college I plan on attending this fall. I will also start riding my bike when I go to college because it is closer than my High School is. I am really excited about that!

Hey, I'd like to join
I suppose I should also say something abot my thoughts on global warming, as they differ from those most people hold...
I think global warming is not entirerly the fault of humans, as some people believe. I think the Sun and the natural movement of the Earth are also HUGE culprits.
Think of the ice ages. These were caused by changes in the Earth's orbit, tectonic plate movement, variations in the Sun's output, the dynamics in the Earth-Moon system, and a few other things.
If the ice age was caused by natural movement of the Earth, could not the same be happening in reverse? A report pointed out that the Sun may contribute about 50% to global warming. After all, the Earth is wobbling around. At some point, Polaris will no longer be the pole star (it used to be Vega, then it was Thuban, and at some point Vega will be the pole star again). It doesn't seem too hard to imagine that changes in our orbit could change things.
Obviously, some of it IS our fault, but not on the many people are saying. We need to hold the Sun and our orbit accountable as well.

Global Warming IS natural, but it's increasing rate has been affected by human factors. If we would cut down on pollution and all the other junk that causes it to rise so drastically in such a short time is the real problem >.<

I would like to be a member if that is possible. I like environment. We need to take care of it well as we all can. I agree with Saira(can I call you that name?). The Global Warming is not a bad thing but the way it affects the world as Al-Gore pointed out the dramatical increase in the temperature of the weather as compared to 100 years before is definitely something we should be concerned of.

I'm sure you'll be able to join, so welcome to the club Faramir
I agree with what you say about Global Warming. Before I saw an inconvenient truth I thought that maybe Global Warming was just a natural process and we've had the Ice Age and so on after all. But when I saw the huge increase of temperatures in the statistics that Al Gore showed in his movie, I was really shocked and I think that it can't be just a natural process and we humans definitely contribute to it.
But of course we're not just harming the environment by intensifying global warming, it's just the most serious issue for us at the moment.

There are these "Awful Things" in every generation. It used to be the Russian Invasion and global cooling. Now its "Terrorism" and global warming and AIDS and all the other rubbish. Its all there and yes, its serious, but I mean its all humans' own fault mostly! The Environment and other human beings have to suffer because of our own races' stupidity and lack of discretion in what they do.

Exactly! That's my thinking, too. Like all the time, I'm dealing with people who think they haven't gotten a reason to deal with the environment. And I tell them, it's not for her sake you have to protect the environment. The environment can clean itself up after all our mess. What you really have to worry about is you people. Because how long do you think we can live with all the rubbish we're dumping into the lakes and into the earth and into the air?

Caunion man you better stay out of my country then you would get a good beaten for what you said above but undoubtedly, you are very right. Btw, what of Nuclear Power Plants? Iran has quite few as well as USA though it is claimed that nuclear power is necessary for the economically growth of countries. The Chernobyl incident in the past quite proved that it is a threat we, people, cannot easily stop.

Aerlinn~Idunna wrote: Nuclear powers...to be honest, I'm more worried about the less "scary" things humans do, like polluting the seas. A Nuclear power central exploding is bad, Chernobyl proved that. But Chernobyl also proved life, though very, very painfully slowly, after that, can go on again. But if the sea is polluted enough..,.plankton = the major thing that takes care of our oxygen supply, much more than the rainforests. If too much plankton dies, we'll simply lack fresh air and all die. Not such a nice thought, isn't it?
Aerlinn bubs, did you know that the no. 1 factor for the release of CO2 is the oceans? One reason is yes, because we pollute them, but also because of all the life IN them. Im also wondering how that works... How do the oceans provide us with oxygen?

I can see why NG would say that xDD Well we are ALL carbon based life forms Aerlinn dear, so I suppose that it has come start somewhere... But I never knew that zooplankton actually did that. Might be because they stop the reflection. Hm. I will actually look into that

Aerlinn~Idunna wrote: Anyway...I agree with Saira, every generation has it's own problem. There will always be negative as well as positive things going on, that's life, nature...and humans. Humans don't seem to have much of a balance though - the negative stuff in most generations seems to outweigh the positive things we do by far, usually. It's a sad thing. You'd expect people to learn, but yet it hasn't really happened so far.
I couldn't agree more with you, Aerlinn. We humans never seem to learn. Everybody is talking about how bad things are in the world and how bad things have been and what the difference between the present and the past is, yet most people never do anything about it.
And I never get why they don't do anything. Especially people who have children (which are most adults in this world I would say) should be interested in preserving the environment and providing good conditions to their children, because otherwise they and their children won't be able to have a good life.
