To gain experience I force myself to make something in a new style I've never tried before. Even something as simple as masking changes the dynamic of how you look at graphic-making. I only recently started using selective coloring, hated it, and since I figured out how to make it do what I want, I use it in almost everything. =P
Also, picking quotes and trying to make them fit into a graphic, whether it's made with stock photos or screencaps or actors, is a good way to challenge yourself. Not necessarily doing the obvious, either[pairing a movie/tv quote with the scene it came from].
As for the cook-out, I think it would be extremely fun. Or we could do a 'daily challenge' type thing and pick something specific to do each day for the people in the club.

Heh... summer and free time are antonyms for me this year...
I'm at camp for 2 weeks... at my grandparents for 1 (during which I get to do basically ALL of my shopping for a whole year), then we're back here for a few weeks and then off to Holland for 20 days... when we get back there's a few days and then school starts up again.

Wow, I haven't posted here for awhile.
I have a couple of weeks off of school before my summer term starts again, and I feel like making graphics, but I have no inspiration. Maybe I'll try looking up quotes, like Aliana said.
A graphic cook-out/daily challenge sounds like a cool idea!

I was going to say something about that, but I thought it too off-topic.
I think it looks good, Cal! Better then some of mine... (That I make, not that I'm wearing )

I've been wanting to start a battle with someone for a very long time, but i never know who to approach, everyone seems to busy right now. If anyones willing to start a battle with me, just PM me. I'd be up for anything except wallpapers...
I wont have much time during the summer, i'm off school in June, but have exams for two weeks(i only have two this semester, so thats ok). Then i'm gone for a weekend or two in June. Then I leave for Europe on July 17th, and dont come back until the 2nd of August. I'll need a few days to recover, then sometime in August, i'm doing a staycation with some friends.
I've actually been kind of inspired right now, i finished a few banners for contests, so thats good.

What is a battle, exactly? I've never done one before. Stuff's slowing down a little for me lately so I might be able to try it - just a slight setback lately, cause my laptop crashed and I have to get all my fonts/textures/brushes back.

A battle is simply two people going back and forth (in rounds) with graphics in the same central theme.
Hmm... when would be the best time to do this cookoff then?
If you are not on the memberlist, just say so and put it in bold because there are so many people talking to can't figure out who is new and who is old.

I am not on the Member list.
Oooh, I cookoff. I would be good at a real cookoff, but not Graphic wise...
I would try to make a cake and end up with burt pancakes... Yuck.
I will watch! I mean, what's a cookoff without people watching, right?
