Ooh, have you read Heir Apparent? It's my favorite of the Vande Velde books I've read. I'll need to check out Companions of the Night.

She's very good, one of the few fantasy writers who writes in first person, and her worldbuilding skills are impressive. Forest Mage especially (so far) is definitely PG-13 if not higher, though. It's such a relief to find some really good fantasy that is suspenseful and has a believable world and intriguing character development. I also hear that her Farseer trilogy is very good.
Ah alright.. It sounds very promising. I'm quite picky with my fantasy after having read Tolkien - and a couple of others! The rating doesn't bother me as long as it's a part of the plot, and besides, we don't have ratings on books here.
I'll give her books a try, thanks!

"The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. Again.
*is trying not to have a crush on Zusak, considering he's already married. Sighs*
And "A Short History of Philosophy" by some forgettable historian. It's very interesting though.

I've been going through my favorite books from my childhood and early teens for the past six months. It's been great reading them again and rediscover why I loved them so much in the first place.
Currently I'm on "Ghosts Beneath Our Feet" by Betty Ren Wright.
During the past week I've gone through "Rosie's Quest" by Ann Carroll as well as "Tidens Fånge" and "Trädet Och Tiden" both by Gunila Ambjörnsson.

i just finished The Other Boleyn Girl.
ehhh...
as a friend said (rather viciously) "it's like 200 pages worth of crap, followed by 50 good pages, followed by another 200 pages of crap and a crap ending"
well, in any case, those 50 good pages were really good, and kept me reading 'til the end.
