Thanks But I can't afford any of the programs.. Otherwise I would have been making banners for years

I think GIMP's free, isn't it? I use Photoshop Elements, so I doubt I'd be able help with GIMP, but I know Nurr and several other amazing graphic makers use it.
I'd love to join the contest, but since I'm a founder, that probably isn't a good idea.

Yep, GIMP is completely free. You can get it at gimp.net. I and quite a few others use it, and I'm sure any of us would be happy to give you a hand. I've used it, Photoshop Elements, and Photoshop CS, and I personally prefer GIMP (though this may be because I'm familiar with it).

I just got Cezanne, and now I'm itching to use it. Yay for font downloading rampages!

For some reason I've had this weird obsession lately with really plain fonts. Just your normal Verdana, Helvetica, Times, etc. It's so weird. About the most scripty I've really wanted to get are violation and Fely. Anyone else go through phases like this?

I've had an Arial Black phase and a Times New Roman phase. So, yes. xD

^ haha I wish I could join the contests myself, but since I'd be hosting them...that would be awkward.

*Nods* I don't think I'd previously heard of any of the fonts Pandora suggested, so I'm really glad we're doing the battle--more cool fonts! Weee!

^ Oh, well, I went back a week or so ago and downloaded some fonts just fine, so I'm thinking my computer is just very messed up. I think I downloaded Cezanne, Jefferson, and some others, and they're working perfectly right now. Yay for overusing Cezanne because it's just so gorgeous and it goes with everything!
