@ Earyende - I LOVE that movie. So good.

I just watch Underworld - Rise of the Lycans, and honesty, I thought it was FANTASTIC. The architecture was amazing (because the man in charge of it also was for LOTR, and we all know how awesome that turned out :)), and the characters did a great job in acting! I will probably go and watch it again because I loved it so much!! A great addition to the trilogy - cannot wait for the fourth one!

P.S. - Health Ledger as the Joker RULED.

Part of Pearl Harbour, then I remembered how much I dislike Michael Bay, and shut it off.

Well technically it is incorrect to call Batman a superhero... as Christian Bale himself has noted, he is an ordinary man with money. That's all the power he has. And some neat technology, but he has no weird and wonderful superskills.

Also, I think with this film, you can see that Bruce has major doubts about himself. Like Peter in Spiderman 3, he doesn't want to do this anymore. He wants to pass all the problems to someone who doesn't have to go against the law to get things done. But also like Peter, he is guilty of needing his alter-ego for himself as much as for the people of his city.

And I think, the whole point was with Batman becoming the villain, is with the Joker incarcerated, the people would need someone to blame, to hunt, to point the finger at, for what happened to Harvey Dent. The people are already disillusioned with Batman, so it made sense to make him the villain, so Dent would become a victim of the man who says everything he was doing was for the good of the city... when Dent was actually the one who would done the most good. The Joker was just a freak of a criminal... to have Dent fall to someone like him would not have done Dent's image any good.

That's the way I see it anyway. :P

And I am so glad you liked Heath Ledger as the Joker.

I see. Still, the ultimate necessity of making Batman a villain doesn't occur to me. Nobody really knew that Dent had turned evil except very few people, right? It would have been possible to make people believe that Dent has been killed by the explosion of the hospital, without affecting his hero status. Is it really necessary to give people a scapegoat to make them believe that there is still hope for their city? I don't think so. Therefore, the dramatic "Batman = secret hero" ending seemed quite artificial to me. I can't help it.

The fact that Batman doesn't have supernatural powers does not really prove he is not a superhero (however you define that word). After all, he uses supernatural technology. :P

As for Bruce's doubts about himself, what I meant was that I can't see that he has to fight against evil within himself. He wants to give Gotham a real hero like Dent, and still he can't let go of Batman, okay. But I don't think he ever has to decide between good and evil within himself. He can't bear that people are killed by the Joker because of him, and he certainly has feelings of revenge. However, this inner conflict is not stringently shown in the movie. After all, he has a kind of revenge in the end.
Spiderman was about something more, it was about mercy.

It's quite hard for me to describe these feelings, but I hope you get my meaning ;-) I do agree that the movie was overall well made, and I admit there were some scenes where I cried. So I do understand why you love it so much.

The Dark Knight

Yeah, undergoing an obsession... I've watched it four nights in a row. But I've found myself so hopelessly in love with Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart). But don't think that's the only reason I watch teh movie.. :P I thought it was so brilliant; the plot, the characters, everything...

I really hope they're doing a third movie, as rumors have been circulating over the internet and I need some solid facts before I go insane from waiting. :swoon:

From the current rumours. Chris Nolan is working on the movie with David Goyer.

Watched Deep Impact the other night. Great movie, underrated. But utterly depressing.

The Dark Knight

I actually didn't think it was that good. There wasn't much plot, too many explosions, it was too dark to see what was going on, Batman was more like Emoman, Heath Ledger was good but wasn't outstanding, and the other characters were essentially cardboard cutouts with next to no motivation.

You are the only person I've heard that didn't like the movie. And that makes me sad.

Anyway. I watched The Titanic. :D

Well actually I know of two people on here who don't think TDK is brilliant... but to each their own. I know what's it's like to be seemingly the only person who doesn't like a film when everyone else does... I'm just sad that others can't share in my enjoyment of something.

Seven Brides For Seven Brothers - I'd forgotten how good this film is. In all the musicals I have seen, nothing comes close to the barn rasing scene for fantastic jaw-droppingly spectacular dancing. And I <3 Frank.

Annie Get Your Gun - I liked it a lot, but Betty Hutton went from over-the-top-I'm-not-in-a-stage-show-anymore-so-calm-down acting to actually being very good. But she as annoying a lot of the time which spoilt it.

Bucket List

It was so sad and adorable.

Twilight

I finally wasted the 3.15 to go see this movie, and I laughed my butt off the whole time. Edward's concerned looks turned into looks similar to those of a woman giving birth and a constipated child. When he first smelt Bella in the class room, it looked like he was going to puke. The sparkling was terrible. It looked liek he had decided to start a mold plantation and it just decided to burst out all over him.

The only bits I enjoyed was the one where he put his arm around her shoulder and said "I'm going to hell anyways". And the scene where they played "Supermassive Black Hole" and the credits, were "15 Step" played. And Bella's Lullaby was very pretty. And instead of using Supermassive Black Hole for the Muse song, they should have used Bliss. It makes much more sense, the lyrics fit so much more perfectly than SBH... silly people that picked the songs. And what was with using 15 Step? It has nothing what so ever to do with Twilight... There are dozens of other Radiohead songs that could have applised better to the movie...

But overall it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. But it still sucked majorly. Would I see it again? No. If someone else payed. Hell yes.

^Two amazingly awesome films. :D Finding Nemo pwns all. Oh yeah.

Anyway, I just got back from two films being shown at the university. :P I had no idea what to expect with either, to be honest. But I came away loving both. Although the last one actually had me in tears. And I'm quite depressed over it. BAH. :P

"The Kautokeino Rebellion (Kautokeino-Opprøret)"

I missed the first half of this one because of my Norwegian language class. But it was really interesting. It was about the only violent incident between the Sami and Norwegian people. It was a great film, but I always hate films like this. Only because they get me so pissed off and worked up and injustice against minorities and such. RAWR!

"Turtles Can Fly"

THIS was an amazing film. It started off kind of bizarre ... but then went from absolutely adorable to unbelievably depressing. It was about orphans on the Iraq-Turkey border just before the United States invasion in 2003. It was really funny and cute ... and then, oh man. WHOA. I recommend it to everyone. Just remember to have Kleenex with you when you watch it. Yeah.
