We get another channel that occasionally plays Dressed to Kill, The Woman in Green, and Terror By Night, but none of the others, so those are the only ones I've seen. I totally agree. Basil Rathbone was and is wonderful but Jeremy Brett was great on so many levels that he is the ultimate Holmes.
Just watched Sherlock Holmes' Fatal Hour (1931). This one starred Arthur Wontner, who I heard was a very good Holmes. He was the spitting-image of the Sidney Paget illustrations, but he spoke with such a morose voice that he reminded me of an old professor who's lectures inevitably lull you asleep.
Ah, that is a shame. I have seen them so many times over the years, I took it for granted that they were widely available. The Scarlet Claw is a really good one, very atmospheric. The Pearl Of Death scared me as a kid, and I never saw it again for years. The supporting actors are usually hammy, and Watson is not how Watson should be, but for their interpretation of Holmes and Watson, you cant beat Basil and Nigel. It also helps if you are charmed as an 8 year old by the leading man....
^ I have not seen that one, I'm not even sure if I have heard of the guy. Lol, poor you.
High Society - can't beat a bit of Frank Sinatra.

I love your banners and avvie.
yesterday (in theaters): Jim Carrey in A Christmas Carol. 5 out of 5 hands down.
Today: In Harm's Way with John wayne. I don't usually like war films, but I actually sat down and watched most of this one; I have to say though, Kirk Douglas raping that nurse was a little intense, and I don't quite understand why that had to be in there, but I felt like his death in the film was deserving of his crime...for a while, I thought he was going to go unpunished. But really a good movie.

Closer
I don't know why but I find myself disliking Julia Roberts in this. Maybe it's because she's overshadowed by Jude Law, Clive Owen, and Natalie Portman. Speaking of which.....*sigh*

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.
I only saw this because of Christopher Eccleston and Sienna Miller. And Chris overshadowed her. By a lot. I nearly wanted to kill everyone else though. Especially Duke. I already knew I was going to hate him. And guess what...I did. I got out 13 minutes in.

"Charlie Wilson's War"
I'm a bit ashamed that I didn't know about this guy or what he did considering I've got a political science degree. But I suppose that was the point of it being ... covert. GREAT movie!
"The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants"
Never seen it before. Pretty good. I haven't read the books either though, so I don't know how faithful it is, but the author seemed to give it her blessing. XD The best part of the movie, or the most moving part for me, was when Carmen called her dad. Not only was America heartbreaking in it, Brad Whitford just blew my mind.

I've been watching a lot of movies over the holidays, most of them on my torturously long flights.
On the way to Aus:
Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince - a small flight screen doesn't do much good for the movie
100 Days of Summer - My expectations were huge and the movie though sweet couldn't fulfil them
Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs - Not as good as the second but better than the first!
Four Christmases - rather silly, but since there were so few Christmassy movies to see...
Sex & the City - The Movie - Wasn't a fan of the TV-series but the movie is decent, except I hated the ending...
During the holidays:
Twilight - Never read the books, never watched the movies.. until now.. Umm.. not sure what to say... vampires are not really my kind of thing.. and this one... umm.. sparkles...? when exposed to sunlight...? Very strange...
Bright Star - I almost died of boredom. Warning: Do not watch unless... well, you really want to!
Avatar - Watched it on a 8-storey tall screen, supposedly the biggest in the world. The visual effects were amazing but seriously where is the plot??? Where??? I didn't see it... at all!!!
On my flight home:
This Is It - OMG, my Michael Jackson fandom is re-kindled like never before!
Fame (2009) - Seriously... the plot is bad, there is hardly no dancing/performing and the best thing from the old movie, the Fame theme song, is not even in it... bad, very bad..
Nine - Great movie - very typical Tim Burton - but definitely NOT a movie fitted to be watched onboard a noisy plane with some bad headphones ... much of the dialogue was lost in plane turbulence and passenger announcements...
Wall-E - Now here's a movie that is made to be watched onboard a noisy plane, there is hardly any dialogue but the movie is so sweet... E.T phone home, anyone!!
The Golden Compass - I thought I wouldn't like it... but hey, I liked it!
Fame - The old movie is slightly better - gotta love the theme song - but I didn't finish before we were landing...
