 OH MY WORD.
NOW PLEASE?
[s]Who's that random unattractive guy?[/s] Can I just say how happy I am that Sir Leon is in that? And my word, what did Lancelot do to his hair again? Or maybe it's the beginnings of the beard, or his clothes. Whatever it is, banishment has been good for him.

Hahaha, [s]I thought the same thing about random unattractive guy.[/s] How inadequate do you think he felt standing next to all of the others? Poor guy.
And the other thing that cracks me up is how gorgeous Gawaine is, and yet he cannot take a photograph to save his life.

Maybe he'll grow into it. We haven't met him yet, he could just belong out of sheer awesome. He'd better belong.
Weeeeell...I came across this picspam today about the knights. He can manage a picture or two.

Literally a picture or two. The only shots of him that were fantastic were the ones that didn't focus on his face. He still managed to have the least amount of decent pictures of all the other knights. I'm not saying he's not gorgeous, because [s]DEARGOD[/s] he is. He's just not super photogenic.

GWAAAAAAAAINE.
The man is gorgeous. Even if he isn't all that photogenic, he's beautiful onscreen. This finale is going to be EPICALLY PRETTY.
And THAT is why you keep watching, Silvery.

Tumblr has become a really, really amazing source for really gorgeous pictures of Gwaine. Who I adore.
I mean, HELLO. He is such a much better boifrand than Arthur. Merlin - he's a keeper.

Oh, the finale is going to be screencap heaven. I know it.
*is still recovering from the picspam* Sir Leon! Elyan! Gwaine. Lancelot! And random dude who really isn't that bad.
I concur with Nurrantiel; Merlin is worth it, if only for the eye candy.
Actually, speaking of Elyan, did anyone else think it strange that he didn't have a cameo in Queen of Hearts? I was kind of expecting him to show up seeing as his sister was being banished/sentenced to death, etc. etc.

Okay, random [s]unattractive[/s] dude isn't too bad, just when put next to THOSE guys he really pales in comparison.
I never thought about that, but now that you mention it I wish they'd had him show up. It would've been nice to see more of him, especially as he's going to be a knight.

Agreed on Elyan.
Also, I just had so much trouble with that last episode. I just feel like there isn't any chemistry between Angel and Bradley, and somehow, that's making the whole Gwen/Arthur thing seems contrived. It's just... not right.

I think there is a lot of chemistry between them as actors, but I don't think the two of them look good together. I never really realized until this last episode and the vision of Gwen taking the throne. It just didn't look good.
And I was thinking about Elyan the whole time. If he reopened the forge, wouldn't he be living with Gwen? It wasn't really proper for a young woman to be living on her own, right?

I'm an A/G shipper, so I don't really agree, but I do think you have a good point.
I find chemistry a funny term, though; I'm never sure what people mean by it. A crackling undertone, tension, desire? I do think that there's a nice rapport built up between Arthur and Guinevere, and that combined with their personalities and interaction is enough for me to 'ship them as my 'Merlin couple.' (Along with Merlin/Morgana, and there's no lack of chemistry there. )
I find my favourite A/G moments aren't the big declarations of enduring love, but the more subtle, understated moments not necessarily between them, but about them. For example, when Arthur catches Merlin coming out from Morgana's chambers at the end of 2.03 The Witch's Quickening and says "She can't be your friend. Let alone anything else." On the surface, he's talking about the impossibility of Merlin/Morgana, but his words can also be applied (rightly, I think) to his relationship with Guinevere.
I most enjoyed Arthur/Guinevere in late Season 1 and early season 2, (though The Tears of Uther Pendragon I and II had some lovely moments, too.) In 1.10 The Moment of Truth, when Guinevere calls him out on his behaviour, he just looks startled, like he's seeing her for the first time. Up till then, she's just been Morgana's handmaiden. But being Morgana's handmaiden, a servant, speaking up like that takes guts, and that's when she really catches his attention.
And she continued to do that for some time; call him out when he was being prattish, encourage him to do the right thing ( in 2.08, with Gaius' death sentence.) In 2.06 Beauty and the Beast II, she was the one who followed him and affirmed his decision, standing by him after he refused to pass the order regarding the proposed tax.She was his rock, his sounding board, and the voice of the people. I think she represents Camelot to him.
They didn't really focus on that in late Season 2 and haven't much in Season 3, and I have missed that.
All that to say: I agree and disagree.

Chemistry has nothing to do with the sexual aspect of their relationship xDDD Not how I'm using it in this particular context, anyways.
Merlin and Arthur have SO MUCH DAMN CHEMISTRY. All those little moments, all that apparently flawless clicking together; it all just kind of fits like a puzzle. Its an organic relationship which is believable and it gets you interested. When Bradley and Colin are on scene together, it's usually awesome.
For some reason though, I don't find Arthur/Gwen working for me. And it's weird, because I want it to. I mean, I love the concept of their relationship, and Im a big fan in the books. But on screen - maybe it's because as Tar said, they don't look good together - but I just don't feel excited. I just don't... care. It's like, "Meh. More Arthur/Gwen sap. GIVE ME MERLIN/GWAINE." And I don't even mean that romantically. I just love Gwaine's hair. And his appreciation of Merlin. Did I mention I love his hair?
I enjoyed the whole Gwen/Arthur thing in the earlier series as well. Probably because they were mostly just friends, and that worked. I JUST DON'T LIKE THEM AS A COUPLE. Not the characters, the acting! It's just a little off, for some reason. Maybe if I felt like poor Gwen actually had some other purpose, I would be less judgmental.
Okai. End of rant

Don't get me wrong, I AM an A/G shipper, mostly because in the legend I always felt so AWFUL for Arthur, because his love for her was SO honest. I'm a giant A/G shipper. And I love Bradley and Angel. They just don't really look good together. But I can get over it.
And I'd totally love Merlin/Morgana. It'll never legitimately happen, but I'd love it anyway. A hate/hate romance. I wish.
EDIT:
SPOILERS
You know, I found this last episode surprising. I expected it to be the same old song and dance, the whole "tournament, someone's cheating with magic" thing. Well, I mean, it was, but for once there was a character that had some legitimate depth. There were some FANTASTIC moments between Gilly (did I hear that right?) and Merlin, as well as some fantastic Uther/Arthur moments.
I mean, there was the whole scene where Merlin revealed his magic, and the speech. "It's lonely. Being more powerful than any man you know and to have to be a shadow. To be special and have to pretend you're a fool." I went back and watched the scene twice, because the subtlety of emotion in Colin's face was just perfect. And he was matched, for possibly the first time, in his other, because the scene would not have been as brilliant without the rebuttal from Gilly. "You've forgotten who you are." "That's not true." "Isn't it?" "...no." You could see the doubt in Merlin without him ever changing his facial expressing. And IT WAS GREAT to finally have a sorcerer that actually learned a lesson, and wasn't just straight up evil. Hallelujah, writers.
The other moment I loved was the battle between Uther and Arthur. Uther was being his usual lovely self, and Arthur completely swallowed his pride to throw the fight. The music was a lovely touch. The look on Arthur's face as he watched Uther struggling on the ground in frustration PLUS that music...beautiful. And Uther later telling Morgana Arthur threw the fight was nice too. First scene between Uther and Arthur where I didn't want to punch Uther in the face. Some great acting with Bradley and Tony.

New episode---and actually better than I was expecting.
A) I'm glad they didn't follow the typical storyline. Like Gilli wasn't there to start out being all "I'm gonna kill Uther" it just moved that direction.
B) YES, DRAGON. YES. Thank you for being all reasonable. If Uther gets killed by magic, Arthur isn't going to be happy with magic users. THANK YOU.
C) Hey, no awful deaths! They all got away! Minus the bully, but who cares? Gilli gets away and has a lot to think about.

YES. Colin was brilliant as usual, and that dialogue was just so .... fantastic.
Only 6 more days until the knights! Squee!
OH DUDE. SPOILERS.
Freya returns in the season finale. She's listed in the guest stars. I'm not sure how I feel about this.
But THIS makes it all better.

Sometimes, I kind of wish that a little, tiny bit of cussing was allowed. Sigh. I wasn't sure how I felt about it - having watched "Lady of the Lake" on TV (YES, TELEVISION AND NOT TINY MEGAVIDEO 8D) recently. BUT NOW THAT IT IS HAPPENING I'M FEELING THOROUGHLY ANNOYED. Maybe I'm just jealous. Maybe.
Anyways. Agreed muchly on today's episode! It had some really great depth aspects, and I loved the Merlin character-progression. Seriously. Colin is such a great actor, and sometimes I feel like we don't get to see enough from him. I was definitely not disappointed by the original spin on a sorcerer as well
Arthur/Uther was also really fun, and it made Arthur look amazing and Uther look like a pig. Brilliant.
I apologize for the Caps abuse. But I feel it's necessary.
