Hey all!
I'm Feanor, and new here(duh!) :p
I've read LotR, Sil, UT and the Hobbit! My fav, of course, is lotr... but I like all of them.
I've been getting on the site every now and then to see if anything's ever going to be done with it, and now that news is actually being posted and it got a new layout,(I was getting sick of that winter one... no offense, it was pretty.) :p I decided to get on the forum! :)
Well, have a nice day, all!

Welcome welcome Feanor. We're glad you joined us. I'm loving the new layout too and you're right it had been winter in A-U land way too long... But now we're ready for a new spring. :)

Ha! I like the metaphor :teehee: Kind of ridiculous yet poetically appropriate :-P

Anyway, welcome Feanor! Great time to join! Don't lead a rebellion across dangerous ice flows, though...

Hi, I'm Meh-rye-ah. I'm really looking forward to being on this site, especially since I really enjoy learning Elvish. I've read everything by Tolkien that I possibly can and liked it all except for Children of Hurin. I also like Lewis' stuff, and I'm gung-ho to watch all the new Disney movies that are coming out. ;)

Ptt! Ridiculous you say?? The words you are looking for to describe it are 'great wisdom in its purest and simplest form'. :teehee:

Welcome to the forum Meryah. You have great fandoms which are also shared by a bunch of other people here, so I'm sure you'll have a good time. :-)

What a lovely web site. I'm just beginning to explore it, but thought I would say Hello :bye2: I've been a fan of the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien ever since he was recommended to me back in the mid-1960s. I'm far from an expert, but I have read The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings many times. Still, the Silmarillion is by far my favorite of his books. It's not one I ever read cover-to-cover, but browse and read sections often completely out of order. I was worried about how the movies would treat the stories, and have not been disappointed. Something feels very much like home about Middle-earth. I know I am not alone when I say I believe Professor Tolkien was not merely writing fiction, but was relating long-forgotten histories, and this is why his writing rings so true with so many people. My ancestors originally were from what is now the Black Forest area of Europe, and also from northern Italy. So I feel definite kinship with the Woodland Elves, as I know many of us do. Thank-you for the beautiful web site. The Elvish pages are wonder and a joy!

Welcome to A-U, Linaea. I trust the stars guided your path to this little LotR haven. We are very happy to have you and I hope you will join in our many discussions - LotR or other. Although LotR is the ring that rules us all and binds us together, we are also a very social and friendly community. :)

And before I leave you I've gotta do some shameless advertising for the LotR-reading group. We're reading the Trilogy over summer and this month is TTT. You are most welcome to jump in and discuss with us if you want. Click my Frodo-banner for more info. :P

Hi! I've been stalking this site for a long while now, but I only recently decided to join the forums. I'm so glad it's been revived! Tolkien and C. S. Lewis are my favorite authors, and my favorite Tolkien book is probably the Return of the King. I hope to get to know you guys soon! =)

Ea: Thank you! I definitely will check that out. I re-read The Hobbit recently (in anticipation of the movies of course!) and I have been meaning to re-read the Trilogy for a long time but keep getting into other books from the library instead. Maybe the reading group will be the kick in the pants I needed!

P.S. I will try to stay caught up with the forums but until my new-to-me computer replaces poor ol' Hal here, my online activities are fairly limited! (That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Those Facebook games don't count...)
