"I understand, Holly, and you are most welcome." she watched Holly silently as they both began to eat. She was going to take this girl in and help her. She was up for it.

Holly ate in peace. Perhaps meeting Lairiel was going to turn out to be a blessing. With the knowledge Lairiel was going to teach her she could go back and destroy her uncle. Holly nodded to herself, smiling. "The soup is really nice," she said.

"it is! Try a roll, they are still warm!" she grinned, this was certainly going to be fun. "We need to get you sone things when you are done. Take your time though." she herself had finished her food and was sitting back with a satisfied smile.

Holly nodded at Lairiel's recommendation and took a roll. After tearing a bit off she popped it into her mouth. "I do love fresh rolls," she smiled excitedly. "What do I need?" she asked curiously, wondering where her skills would be best.

"First off, some new clothes and a proper cloak. Then we shall gauge what weight of sword you will need, and go from there." she would turn this girl into a ranger if it were the last thing she did.

Holly finished her soup eagerly. "Lets get started," she grinned from ear to ear. "Are we staying here long?" She asked. If they were it would probably be a good idea for her to get a job. She couldn't well expect Lairiel to pay for everything. That wasn't right.

"I don't know yet. We'll play it by ear." she winked "That's your first lesson. Rangers nearly never have concrete plans as to where they are staying unless they absolutely need to."

Holly's brow raised slightly. "Really?" she asked, stressing her question. "How do you ever get anywhere thinking like that?" she mused. "Although I suppose it does make you unpredicatable. Keeps enemies guessing," her eyes narrowed as she voiced her thoughts.

"Think about it. You get everywhere thinking like that." this might be harder than she thought. "It's not that it keeps enemies guessing. A smart Ranger will try not to have enemies."

Holly bit her lip tightly. "Off course!" She shook her head. "A Ranger's job is to protect those in need and be of service any way they can. Having enemies would simply hinder that."

"Aha! Now you have the idea." she grinned "You are obviously very bright. Of course, a ranger will have enemies. That is a given. What you do about it and how you go about it are what's important."

"Personally I would not want to draw too much attention to myself. Other than that, how it was handled, would depend on the situation..." she pondered. "Naturally I would want as little enemies as I could. If there was a way of turning an enemy to an ally I think I would take it, again depending on the circumstances and on who the enemy was."

She nodded "It's a good way to look at it. Although much easier said than done, unfortunately." she took a deep drink of her ale. "Now, shall we grab you some decent ranger attire if you are finished eating?"

Holly dabbed her mouth with a napkin. "I am ready when you are." Holly practically bounced in her seat with excitement. She could barely believe this was happening. Her dream was finally happening before her eyes.

Lairiel nodded and got up, leaving coin and tip on the table and motioned for Holly to follow. She led her to the clothes shop and had her measure for pants, tunic, leather armor, and cloak. As well as a new pair of boots. Then she took her to the fabrics "Show me which colors you would choose as a Ranger." everything would be a lesson, a quiz.

Holly watched all the action around her with frenzied interest. Holly followed, walking by Lairiel's side. At Lairiel's question she paused to think. "Well...By nature Rangers are elusive and mysterious. Therefore I would choose a colour that would not draw too much attention. Therefore bright colours are out. Most of the time Rangers spend their time in the wild. Therefore I would choose greens or browns. That would make it easier to blend into the surroundings." Holly peered up at Lairiel, wondering if her answer had been correct.
