"I will come back to you," he vowed, kissing her hand before pulling himself out of her arms. If he didn't and he stayed longer he was sure he would not leave. Gondor needed him and any help he could summon. He fixed her with a longing look before dashing out the door with Travon. The took off on a sprint. Travon had gathered some of the strongest members of the village. Thoril appraised them, but took no time to introduce himself. There was not time to be lost.

Days had turned into weeks and still there had been no sign of Thoril. Word had spread that the Dark Lord Sauron had been defeated and the ring of power destroyed. Word had spread of the valiant warriors who had fought for the freedom of Gondor and all of Middle Earth. One story had been spread to the four corners about one man who had fought on bravely and had taken on several of the dark riders. He had been knighted for his bravery and his aid.

One, sunny, bright day Thoril strode into his familiar village. Many of the villagers stopped in their daily chores to gaze at him. Some even applauded. Thoril was glad to see that the darkness had not touched this perfect village. His cheeks burned red at the attention. He nodded and waved until he made his way to his home. He took a deep breath and entered, closing the door to the prying eyes of his neighbours. "Callie?" He called, holding a hand behind his back. He peered into the living room and up the stairs. "I'm home!" He exhaled with relief.

Callie had been upstairs cleaning, her hair tied back under a bandana when she heard the door open and a familiar voice call. "Thoril!" she yelled and came flying down the stairs and lept into his arms, holding him tightly as tears of relief and happiness filled her eyes. "You're home!"

Thoril chuckled softly, catching her in his arm. He burrowed his head into her neck grinning happily. "I really missed you, Callie," he whispered softly, taking in her sweet scent. "How have things been since I left?" he asked curiously as he carried her into the living room and sat down with her on the sofa, his arm wrapped around her gently.

"I missed you too," she sighed, refusing to let him go now that she had him back. She remained stuck to him even as he carried her to the sofa. "Lonely." she replied to his question. "I got everything moved in, and my job has been going well. I'm manager now, of the kitchens." she even had money saved up.

"I am sorry I had to leave you so soon Callie, but know I did it so that we could be together unharmed and uninterrupted. I did it Callie. We did it. The Dark Lord is gone. We are all free from his shadow." He beamed brightly. He kissed her cheek softly as she spoke about her job. "I am so proud of you Callie," he kissed her fervently, his arm pulling her close, not wanting to let her go.

She smiled, tears in her eyes. "Yes, Thoril. You did it, and came back to me." she galdly kissed him back, one hand tangling in his hair. He had kept his promise and had come home. Their home, she realized with a flutter of excitement. She pulled back and caressed his cheek lightly, "And I am proud of you." she whispered to him.

"I made two promises to you when I left. One of which was that I would come back to you. And boy did I make sure I came back to you. Callie, you were my guiding light in the dark. The second promise I made to you was to make you my bride and on that note." He disentangled himself from Callie and dropped down onto one knee in front of Callie. "Off course I am going about this all in the wrong way. I should have saught out your father and asked him for your hand. That being said, it would not have made a difference what he had to say on the matter. Callie I want to build a life with you. I want to share my life with you. I want to have children and watch them grow and I want to grow old with you. That life begins with one simple question. Callie," he gazed into her eyes. "I love you and I always will. Would you do me the great honour of being my wife?" From behind his back he produced a blue velvet box. He propped it open and inside was a white gold band, with a large, emerald cut diamond.

Her hand went to her mouth as tears of pure joy ran down her face. "Yes, Thoril, I would be honored." she whispered, then took his hand in hers. "Thoril, I also made the decision. For you, I have chosen a mortal life." she had given up her mortality, she would not be able to go on after he grew old and passed.

Thoril slid the ring on Callie's finger. He smiled brightly at her, his fingers entwining with hers. He sat on the sofa with her again. "Callie...I love you for that, but that is your immortality...Are you sure?" He asked, worry layering his voice. If he thought Callie's father wouldn't like him before, he certainly would despise him now.

"I am sure, Thoril. I wish only to be able to live a live with you, and not live on in sorrow after you pass." she admired the ring, "Thank you, it is beautiful..." she then remembered he had mentioned her father. It was time to tell him. "My father and mother..."she swallowed, "Were killed when I was but a young child." they had been murdered in front of her, during a vicious storm one dark night the people had broken into their house and brutally murdered her parents.

Thoril's eyes widened in shock for a moment. He soon wiped the look of shock from his face. All that was left was sorrow. "I am terribly sorry for your loss, dear Callie." Thoril shifted on the sofa, holding Callie in both of his arms. A soft kiss was pressed to her forehead. "I am here for you now," he whispered softly.

She leaned into him gratefully, knowing he didn't needto know the details. "It's alright. I happened years ago..." she whispered. Though it was still clear as day. She wrapped her arms around him. "I do have you now," Callie said with a smile.

Thoril settled back into the sofa. He could not remember the last time he had rested. His eyes began to close and his head began to bow. He straightened with a start, shaking his head as though to shift the fatigue. "And you always will have me," he whispered softly, kissing the top of her head.

She smiled softly at those words. "Yes, am I am glad for it." she tugged his arm. "Off to bed with you' you're exhausted. I'll have food for you when you wake."
