That's quite a strange book isn't it? I had to read it a few years ago for my English class, but I'm not sure whether I liked it or not. I didn't really bond with any of the characters.. What did you think of it..? ;)

I'm reading Harry Potter and the Halfblood Prince right now, as I wanted to do some light reading.. :)

I think my expectations were too high. Peope seemed so excited about it. I generally liked the dystopian theme, the thought-provoking "what would happen if..." but like you said I never got to feel empathy for any of the characters, not even the main character. I think Atwood deliberately may have chosen a passive, apathetic tone in the book - to reflect the characters' and their situation - it just came off as.. indifferent. I think I lacked plot. The author merely sets up her dystopian world and places her characters like dolls in a playhouse but she doesn't have them do anything.. there is no development and suspense and building up to a climax etc...

I finished Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children yesterday. It was interesting how the author made the story from old found photographs, but the plot itself was... a bit too cliche, really. The author had a great voice, though, which at least made it a fun read. :)

Now I get to start A Clash of Kings. So excited. :D

I just finished the Doctor Who novel The Silent Stars Go By, by Dan Abnett. It was awesome. He NAILED all the characterizations of the Doctor, Amy, and Rory--I seriously felt like I was reading an episode script, it was great! Plus, any time you can have the Doctor singing Christmas carols is good by me. XD And now I'm reading Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens by J.M. Barrie.

I've had a real urge to read lately. Right now I'm currently reading two books, Wait For Me by An Na and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling. Recently, I finished The Chosen by Chaim Potok, an outside reading book for my English class; I enjoyed it so much that I finished it over break. The essay isn't due for another two weeks or so. :p

Originally, I had intended to read the second Harry Potter book right after I had finished the first, but the second was already checked out by someone else at the time. So I watched the movie adaption, and later checked out the second book from another library, thus beginning a tradition of reading a Harry Potter book and equally enjoying the movie, changes and all. I've been bitten by the Harry Potter bug and I don't mind it at all.

"Stad I Världen" (City In The World) by Per Anders Fogelström. The fifth and final book in his series about working class life in Stockholm between 1860-1968 that follows the same family, generation after generation. This book covers the period from 1945-1968.

Doctor Who: Paradox Lost. I love my Kindle, it makes it so easy for me to get Doctor Who novels that I wouldn't otherwise be able to find readily in the U.S. ^_^

I'm reading two books right now: Soulless by Gail Carrigan is the first. Mixed feelings on this one; I like the premise and the characters are likable, but I'm finding it hard to tolerate the whole werewolf-romance aspect.

I also started A Storm of Swords. It... it hurts so good. Or bad. I don't know anymore. :-o
