She stopped short. "One so young, and so bitter." she said sadly. "Child, you have much to learn about this world." she turned to look at him. "Humans are the reason I now wear this veil. But I do not hate them. Hate the man who did this to me? Yes. But hate the entire race of men? It is foolish to do so."

"People are not kind to half breed orphans." he said bitterly.

She immediately softened. She gently took his shoulders in her hands and bent to look him in the eyes. "Raunien. There is no need for an apology. Betrayal and pain dig deep into a soul, and fester there like poisoned wounds. I understand. But you do need to learn that not everyone is wicked." she urged him fervently. "Do it for your own good."
