Aw, what's with the mixed reviews? I imagine, or hope, that the post-production process wasn't entirely complete on the scenes, which is why that projectionist said it looked like a made-for-TV movie.

I was also a bit taken aback with all the negative reviews, but I found some more positive ones as well. Some claim the difference with 'normal' movies will only be noticable for the first 15-20 minutes, after that you are already used to the 'new' style. And others said the material still needs to be color-corrected and stuff, so I'm sure it will all turn out fine After all, Peter Jackson probably knows what he's doing! I trust him to do the right things to our beloved Hobbit!

I'm still really not sure why Jackson decided to pioneer the use of 48fps. I mean, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
I think if anything, this will be the bone of contention among fans, in regards to the 'looking out of place with the original trilogy' type thing.

^ True, I didn't think of that. But now I remember, PJ always said he wanted a seamless connection to the trilogy.

Oh how I would have loved to have seen that footage! I have faith that the film won't appear too odd, Asti seems a lot of the footage was very raw and unfinished Interesting article on the footage, and MAJOR SPOILERS: http://www.theonering.net/torwp/2012/04 ... more-55378

Anyone else want to spend December 14th watching all six versions? 2D-24fps, 2D-48fps, 3D-24fps, 3D-48fps, IMAX-24fps, IMAX-48fps?
The next question then becomes Which to see first...

Lembas, thanks for posting that torn article! It looks like the movie will be just as great as I hoped it would be, based on the article... the technical glitz is secondary, at least for me.

Interesting comment here--if it looks "out of place with the original trilogy," wouldn't that more or less be fitting? See, The Hobbit is written in a completely different style than LotR, which is something that a lot of people notice when they go from one to the other. I can see how a different style might bother people, but it actually makes sense to me.
That said, I don't think we'll be able to pass judgement until we actually see the movie in the theatre. I'm with those who say they trust PJ; I'm sure that however it turns out, it'll be brilliant.

I think that PJ is doing his best to connect The Hobbit movie with the trilogy. If this weren't the case, I don't think that he would insert trilogy characters like Frodo, Legolas, and Galadriel (anyone else?) into the movie when they technically didn't play any roles in the book.
Apart from that, from what we've seen so far, it looks like both parts of The Hobbit will be shot in the same epic style as the trilogy, so I don't think we'll see any major differneces there.
