Any one else's head spinning with all the casting news surroundin this movie? I am excited to see Richard Armitage though, although at first I may be busy thinking 'hey, its the hot bad guy from Robin Hood', but he will be covered up with a dwarf beard so maybe not. Anyone know why Frodo is coming back?

I'm okay with a female character that can use a blade. It is RPGish, but as long as her role is moderate to tiny, I honestly kind of like the idea. But if Tauriel is meant to have a liking of another character, I hope it's more just lightly mentioned or hinted in the film rather than focused upon (yeeesss, no trashy Legolas romance!!! PHEW~). Or preferably just not there at all. And I agree, Evangeline Lilly as an actress doesn't have the elements of an elf, however I'm not at all concerned about her final movie appearance. I have complete trust in the make-up and costume department being able to give anyone that elven essence. And while it's true that Liv and Cate had it naturally (at least in my opinion), their characters also were royalty that did not actively fight. Maybe it makes more sense for Tauriel to be pretty, but not quite the fairest of them all, y'know? Either way, I'm sure she'll be visually stunning on screen. And I just have to say Lee Pace is going to make a perfect elf. I'm so happy with his casting.

Yeah, hopefully they dont make her have a romance with someone, a romance between her and Legolas would probably take up too many scenes (because Legolas is such a popular character), and a romance between her and a dwarf just wouldn't work at all. so for me, romance is not a good idea. hmm...and elf and a dwarf, how strange would that be? lol.

Hey, whoa, leaked picture! http://arwen-undomiel.com/Does she seriously have red hair? That's going to be hard to get used to.

Ooh, I actually really like the way she looks! I expect the red will really kick off on the big screen, and it will probably match the Mirkwood leafy color scheme nicely. Just guessing, of course, but I like it.

You're probably right, Skitty, but I think as a blonde I was hoping she would be blonde, too. (And I want people to stop comparing me to Legolas!)JF, if you didn't see the picture, I'll put what color red hair she has in small type in case you're avoiding spoilers. It looks sort of auburn to me.

It does look really red, doesn't it? Like Skitty said, it'll look good from a design standpoint (I do really like how it looks with the green tunic), but it's a little artificial and unnatural looking, at least from the photos. I'm not sure how I feel about it, honestly. (Mostly I'm still put out that she's not blonde! ) It does look better in the tiny, blurry picture with Legolas, though, so maybe that's a good indication of how it'll look in the film. I think I do remember hearing somewhere that the colors have to really saturated in order to look natural on screen.

See, I'd like some representation of elves with medium-brown hair that I can relate to... Actually, wait, Figwit/Lindir has brown hair. This is good. Some people are complaining about Legolas and Thranduil being blonde, actually, even though Thranduil is specifically described as being golden-haired (so it makes a lot of sense for Legolas to be blonde too, even though Tolkien never says either way).

I think if golden was used for Galadriel, maybe they wanted Legolas to be blonde to show perhaps a difference between them, not just in style of clothes. Also, blonde worked very well with Legolas' woodland coloured clothes.

Her hair looked redish to me when I saw her official figure at my local book store. I think the red hair against the green uniform looks pretty. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/9 ... A1500_.jpgBut did anyone else's eyes roll when it was stated that Kili would form a crush on her? Of course if not Legolas himself, someone from the dwarf company was doomed. I'm still questioning why anyone at all, but I'll deal. I hope it's all but hinted at with only a line or two.
