Did anyone feel like this movie ...didn't feel like Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire?
Y'know, like it was more like "Harry Potter and the Cedric Diggory Take Over With a Hint of Really Cool Effects And Shots to Try and Kill Harry Whilst Fangirls Swoon at Everyone's Hotness"?
Neville and Harry at Lake:
I can't get over how much I ADORE Neville!
And!
[whacks Harry for saying "Neville, you're doing it again."]
Entering names into the Goblet:
Okay, priceless, George and Fred Weasley. Awesome! But when Cedric comes and enters his name and his friends are all forcing him....his hair is all matted....did they threaten him to throw him in a puddle outside or something? Viktor comes all high and mighty with Igor Karkaroff. Could possibly be pursuaded into doing it.
Dumbledore:
I don't like DD in this one. He seems a bit on the edge. He would never physically touch a student unless need be! and he was crazy!
But I CAN understand somewhat because it seems that he was for the Triwizard Tournament with the hopes of International Cooperation between the Wizarding schools due to times ahead --- only his only condition was broken, Harry Potter has been entered, and so now DD's EXTREMELY worried.
"Dragons are greatly misunderstood creatures.":
Only you'd say that, Hagrid.
And.
I WANT TO SEE ANOTHER WEASLEY! [cough] Where was Bill and Charlie at the Quidditch World Cup? Huh?! Where was Charlie when he was handling the Dragon business?! Huh?!
P.S. I miss Molly.
Cedric/Harry Talk About Dragons:
Adorable. [squee] Cedric rocks. And him being with all of his friends. Laying his end on someone else's lap because of a joke. Okay, that is just priceless. Good popular guy kind of image. My only complaint. "I told them not to wear them." About the badges...so why was he laughing when he was walking away from his friends to talk privately with Harry?
Malfoy/Ferret scene:
I didn't like it at all.
It seemed too awkward. I can't see Moody chasing Malfoy around like that, nor do I see him putting the ferret in one of his minion's pants. That's just.....bleh. It seemed to much of a kid wizarding movie kinda thing. And it would've been better if Ron and Hermione were there like they were in the book.
Moody helping Harry in Office:
[trunk rattles]
"You wouldn't believe what's in there even if I told ye."
"That you're hiding the real Mad-Eye Moody who is much more mad now that you've locked him up for 2 months now, stole his magic eye thing, and that you're a spy for Voldemort who intends to use this tournament to resurrect himself? Try me."
Rita Skeeter:
Oh my goodnes, I LOVE this woman. I LOVE Miranda Richardson. She is PERFECT! She's almost as obnoxious as Voldemort.
"A young boy of 12."
"I'm 14."
"Was it the trauma of your past that made you enter into this tournament?"
"What?"
Oh my gosh...
"Hey! My eyes are NOT glistening with the ghost of my past!"
"Everyone loves a rebel, Harry."
[giggles]
LOVE!
First Task:
[giggles] I first liked Viktor in this first scene where he tells Rita Skeeter that her and her paparazzi team needs to GO! Whoot! And he is SO defending Hermione. The dragons looks AMAZING! But I think they should've did something original like look to see what the others did against their dragons. But wow, that Horntail looks AMAZING!!!! Absolutely amazing! The way it moves and grasps onto the side of the building --- it looks so real!
"Who wants me to open it?!"
I agree with whoever made this point. Harry should NOT be saying that.
"Who could possibly figure that out? It was completely mental."
Possibly Harry's second best line besides "My eyes are not glistening with the ghost of my past."
Cho Chang/Owlery:
Love! They DEFINITELY picked a good actress for Cho Chang, she's beautiful and she sounds so sweet!
And y'wanna know why they travel in packs Harry? It's to discourage you to make a fool of yourself.
Snape/Class Misbehaving:
Oh how I love this scene so much! Snape! The adjusting the sleeve collars. BOINK! =D
Parvati and Padma:
This is another complaint of mine. Padma should not be in the Gryffindor Common Room, she's a Ravenclaw for goodness sakes.!
Yule Ball:
Beautiful! Not exactly what I pictured it to be. Seems like very few people were there, but then again - some 4th years and above probably didn't want to go.
And Flitwick....MOSH!! Oh wow! I just couldn't believe it! Flitwick likes to MOSH! I want to see more Cedric dancing! And Viktor looked genuinely happy with Hermione.
I think it was Beriadanwen who said this but I think Hermione DID have a good time at the Yule Ball - atleast until she spoke with Ron and Harry. But I can understand that she's distraught and angry with Ron's attitude.
But at the end it's priceless. "Into your beds now, BOTH OF YOU!"
To be continued.

I agree, it was weird Kitoky wrote: And I had no memory of Cedric coming along with them with the portkey! I must re-read GoF when I'm done with my reading list. Tsk tsk you should read the book again Quote: Draco boasting about good seats, and Lucius whacking him with his cane. That was priceless. But! Where on earth is Narcissa Malfoy?! I demand to see her! Yeah where was she?! They'll need to have her in the 6th movie though. Quote: Harry gets knocked out. Okay. I can understand that. Makes the plot move faster. I'm still furious that they took out the house-elves. I didn't like what they did to change it. Quote: Beauxbatons Entrance: "Um...okay." Seriously. They were butterflies.
But they sounded like birds. Without a doubt the worst part of the movie. I had a real problem with both entrances. The book already stereotyped the French and Bulgarian students. The movie made it 1000x worse, plus they had the female and male stereotype. So annoying. Quote: Moody's Entrance: Okay...so...the guy's a nutcase, he sneaks in with the teachers whilst EVERY STUDENT can see him and the ceiling obviously doesn't like him. [giggle] Okay, not canon, but it worked. It worked, really well. Gotta admit it was lame, but funny Quote: Igor Karkaroff Sneaking Into the Great Hall: Okay, is that necessary? Sure, it makes the audience think HE'S the one giving Harry a heck of a time, but why would he want to get Harry into the tournament which will go against his favorite student? To get him killed? [shrug] Yeah, that would make sense, but c'mon. Boy Who Lived. And Voldie Moldy would definitely be ticked off at Karkaroff if he tried to off Potter-boy, and Karkaroff's trying to run away remember? He definitely doesn't what Death-Eaters on his butt. I thought that was an incredibly stupid shot. It didn't make sense. People that had read the book knew that it wasn't him, and people that hadn't were wondering who the flip this guy was. Quote: Emma Watson has definitely been coming into her own with the role of Hermione. I did not like her in this movie, I found her annoying. I don't blame it on Emma, but on the lines she was given. Me too!!! Quote: "I told them not to wear them." About the badges...so why was he laughing when he was walking away from his friends to talk privately with Harry? I have no bloody clue why he was laughing; he shouldn't have been. Quote: Rita Skeeter: Oh my goodnes, I LOVE this woman. I LOVE Miranda Richardson. She is PERFECT! Yes she was awesome. Quote: I first liked Viktor in this first scene where he tells Rita Skeeter that her and her paparazzi team needs to GO! Whoot! And he is SO defending Hermione. I hated that line; that Krum guy was a bad actor in my opinion. Quote: The dragons looks AMAZING! But I think they should've did something original like look to see what the others did against their dragons. Imagine the money and how much more they would have cut out of the movie. Now, if they had made it into two movies... Quote: But wow, that Horntail looks AMAZING!!!! Absolutely amazing! The way it moves and grasps onto the side of the building --- it looks so real! I totally agree; they did an amazing job. A bit overlong though. It looks like they're entire budget went towards that. Quote: "Who wants me to open it?!" I agree with whoever made this point. Harry should NOT be saying that. Yeah, that was me. I was fuming when he said this. Quote: "Who could possibly figure that out? It was completely mental." Possibly Harry's second best line besides "My eyes are not glistening with the ghost of my past." I know! It's so funny! Dan delivers the line perfectly Quote: I think it was Beriadanwen who said this but I think Hermione DID have a good time at the Yule Ball - atleast until she spoke with Ron and Harry. But I can understand that she's distraught and angry with Ron's attitude.
But at the end it's priceless. "Into your beds now, BOTH OF YOU!"
I just didn't like it, like I said earlier I found Hermione annoying. In the book I didn't. Her whole role was "Harry I'm worried about you" and her freaking out on Ron. It was all over-dramatic in my opinion.
Am I the only person that found Snape hitting them on the back of their heads out of character? I'll agree that it was funny, but I don't think that Snape would do that. It seemed too....too....funny really for Snape. You're not supposed to laugh at what Snape does, you're supposed to be disgusted. I have a teacher that would hit us on the back of the head; she's a teacher that jokes around a lot. Snape isn't that kinda guy. I'm over-analysing I know, but that's what I think.
Something I was disspointed about was not seeing all the preperation and anxiety before the tasks (due to time constraints). That was a huge part in the book. We didn't get to see him working away at Accio.
The movie was very chopped up. There was no flow to it. In PoA after a big scene happened there would be a bit of a break with a scenery shot or a filler scene. This one was Boom Boom Boom. Not that I like PoA, I'm just saying.
Did anyone miss having classroom scenes? There was the one unforgivable curse one and that's it. It didn't seem like they were at school at all.
I've decided that the problem with Cedric's death scene was Harry going "No, no" and throwing himself on top of him (not that I can blame him ). I found it hilarious. Dan's crying wasn't that bad really. Amos Diggory's was 10x worse.

Actually. I can understand that quote. Even though it's a bit of a flashback on Chamber of Secrets here. Sirius heard that Igor Karkaroff was at Hogwarts, and so Harry told him that his name was entered, etc. Sirius's first conscious reaction is "It's Karkaroff!" I think he even said his name, right? "Igor Karkaroff something something."
I'd respond more to some of these but I've got a whole chapter to read and take notes on.

Okay Kit. I agree with you on a number of things! Like Neville! Seriously, I was CHEERING in the theatre! I just LOVED him! It was amazing!
Fred and George: It was Priceless.
Draco/Ferret: I agree with you about Moody chasing him. Kinda strange. But I was still glad that it was actually IN there. In my opinion, too little of Malfoy.
Rita: I think they got her down perfectly. The whole scene in the broom cupboard was hysterical. Though I did miss Hermoine putting her in the jar...
1st Task: I thought it was brilliant.
"It was completely mental." - The best line EVER...well, not EVER. But you get my drift.
Snape: Yay for abuse!
Yule Ball: Definately didn't have ANY problems with the Yule Ball - maybe because I was choking on my popcorn dying of laughter the ENTIRE time. And cheering for Neville....
*dances around cheering for Neville!*

Yeah, I thought the movie was sort of crude, considering the fact that's it's Harry Potter, one of the biggest movies of the season. I agree mostly with what everyone (on this page) has said. I didn't go back a read four pages of reviews. But I have a few things to add:
Did anyone notice that the Firebolt was completely smashed up, even before he fought the dragon? I mean, the Nimbus stayed nice and newish looking, but the sleek, priceless Firebolt in end of the third was reduced to a regular, smashed up sweeping broom with footholds tacked on. Maybe it's not that big of a deal, but I like attention to detail.
Mad-Eye Moody, in my opinion, wasn't very... believable. I mean, obviously it's fantasy, but still things look realistic. Maybe part of it was he just wasn't scary enough...
First task: Very nice. The dragon wasn't what I expected, but still really cool!
Second task: Again, great job! The merpeople were great! And the bit with the half-transformed Krum was neat.
Third task: Kind of disappointing. They did a good job in making the maze intimidating and spooky, but all the cool creatures like the boggart and the sphinx weren't in it. They were just running from a bunch of plants...
Resurection of Voldemort: Neat, but not as chilling and spooky as I though. And he seemed too... human. He didn't seem to have that "Other Worldly" feel to him like he did in the first movie.
Sirius in the fire: Kind of bothered me. I could barely understand what he was saying, plus I kind of wanted to see what a clean Sirius would look like.
Quote: Did anyone feel like this movie ...didn't feel like Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire?
Y'know, like it was more like "Harry Potter and the Cedric Diggory Take Over With a Hint of Really Cool Effects And Shots to Try and Kill Harry Whilst Fangirls Swoon at Everyone's Hotness"? lol!! Very true, Kitoky!! Quote: I WANT TO SEE ANOTHER WEASLEY! [cough] Where was Bill and Charlie at the Quidditch World Cup? Huh?! Where was Charlie when he was handling the Dragon business?! Huh?!
P.S. I miss Molly. Yes!! I think the entire Quidditch World Cup was cut short. Did they run low on their budget or something? No quidditch?!? All it did was get a close up of Krum. Quote: Quote: "Who wants me to open it?!" I agree with whoever made this point. Harry should NOT be saying that. Yeah, that was me. I was fuming when he said this. I was too. I kept thinking "What? Did Harry just say that?!" Then Ron comes up "Oh, I understand you didn't want this." Doesn't seem like it the way he was basking in the attention. The new Dumbledore scared me. He lost that all-knowing intelligence and gentle wisdom. I didn't think the guy was a magnificent actor either... he seemed to be always in a bad mood and you'd think he'd at least base it off the way Richard Harris used to play him. Now Dumbledore's like a completely different person from the first two movies. Quote: Something I was disspointed about was not seeing all the preperation and anxiety before the tasks (due to time constraints). That was a huge part in the book. We didn't get to see him working away at Accio. Yeah, it all made it seem like the tasks were just easy. The closest we got was seeing him look for a way to breath underwater for a few minutes. Quote: The movie was very chopped up. There was no flow to it. In PoA after a big scene happened there would be a bit of a break with a scenery shot or a filler scene. This one was Boom Boom Boom. Not that I like PoA, I'm just saying.
I agree. One minute: Gryfinndor common room. The next: the Great Hall a three weeks later.
Rita Skeeter was wonderful though!! Miranda Richardson did a brilliant job!! Of course, they had to ruin it by cutting out the animagus(sp?) part... but still, great job with her!
I did like all the funny parts they put in. Some of them were cheesy, but still, gotta love 'em! Ron dancing with McGonagall, and Snape getting Harry and Ron for talking.
Overall, it seemed like they cut out a whole lot of stuff that made Harry Potter what it is. They were in too much of a hurry to cram the story line in and make it short enough for people's attention span. I mean, it was even shorter than the first one, although the book is 300-400 pages longer.

a bit. Cedric was supposed to be handsome and I would have gotten mad if he wasn't. but I am NOT a fangirl. I thought they chose a pretty good guy for Victor as well. at first when I saw him I thought he was horrible but after I got used to him, he plays out the part of Victor really well.
STILL CAN'T GET OVER THE FACT ABOUT CHUBBY MOODY AND SIRIUS DIDN'T GET TO BE IN IT

Hmmm...I gues it could work, and I see what you mean, but I still think it seemed out of place.
Btw, I'm not sure if I mentioned this, but I am very mad that Winky was not in the movie. She has a key role, and she wasn't in there!! I understand that they hads to cram a 1000+ page book into a 2 hour 30 minute movie, but I was still miffed that she was not there. Instead they had Harry getting knocked out, and personally I thought that was stupid. It did speed the story up though.

Of course, he was also given funny stuff that wasn't in the books which was what you were cheering about, but I just think Matt does a great job. Wheras someone like Michael Gambon who hasn't read the books and is trying to play one of the biggest roles in the series, did not do a good job at all. Mike Newall said that he loved the house-elves but they didn't contribute to the main plot and each shot of a house-elf would cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The way it moves and grasps onto the side of the building --- it looks so real! i thought this scene was nicely done, although i agree i wanted to see what the other champions did... also i didn't like the Hogwart's Fly around the castle thing, i was like 'HUH?' Quote: "Who wants me to open it?!" I agree with whoever made this point. Harry should NOT be saying that. i liked that quote, i thought it was very teenage boy funny Quote: "Who could possibly figure that out? It was completely mental." Possibly Harry's second best line besides "My eyes are not glistening with the ghost of my past." yup, best line ever... :nods satisfacturally: Quote: Cho Chang/Owlery: Love! They DEFINITELY picked a good actress for Cho Chang, she's beautiful and she sounds so sweet!
And y'wanna know why they travel in packs Harry? It's to discourage you to make a fool of yourself. totally agree there... lol, did anyone know she's scottish? Quote: Snape/Class Misbehaving: Oh how I love this scene so much! Snape! The adjusting the sleeve collars. BOINK! =D i was laughing through that whole scene... once again, abusive teachers  Quote: Parvati and Padma: This is another complaint of mine. Padma should not be in the Gryffindor Common Room, she's a Ravenclaw for goodness sakes.! yeah... Padma is Ravenclaw not Gryffindor :thinks: and i didnt like the whole "Hi Harry" thing, to flirty... Quote: Yule Ball: Beautiful!
"Into your beds now, BOTH OF YOU!"
distraught, good word. i loved the Yule Ball, one of my favorite scenes ever! i thought the whole Hermione emotional was brilliant...
***
the graveyard scene was 100% Brilliant!! Ralph Fiennes did the best job EVER!! omg, i was crying through the whole scene. Voldemort looked absolutely....horrifying, it was brilliant, loved the nose...

Y'know, like it was more like "Harry Potter and the Cedric Diggory Take Over With a Hint of Really Cool Effects And Shots to Try and Kill Harry Whilst Fangirls Swoon at Everyone's Hotness"?
Rita Skeeter: Oh my goodnes, I LOVE this woman. I LOVE Miranda Richardson. She is PERFECT! She's almost as obnoxious as Voldemort. "A young boy of 12." "I'm 14." "Was it the trauma of your past that made you enter into this tournament?" "What?"
Oh my gosh... "Hey! My eyes are NOT glistening with the ghost of my past!" "Everyone loves a rebel, Harry." [giggles] LOVE!
You could not had said it better! It was all about Cedric and his hotness!!!Ok , I just got carried a little bit.*fangirl attack*I love that movie!
Yeah I just LOVE Rita!!!She was so I don't know just PERFECT!!!
Love how Miranda played her!

It's kinda weird that she played Madame Giry from Phantom of the Opera...It's so ironic!

Okay, wow, I can't believe I haven't posted on this until now. Anyways..I saw the movie on Friday and overall I really enjoyed it, but of course, I was rather disappointed in a few things..(Which is odd because I'm never usually one to criticize on movies..)
Quidditch World Cup:
Okay, I was really upset that they didn't show at least any of the game at all, I would have rather seen the actual game then a dancing leprechaun..but I knew they had to shorten that up. Then, the Death Eaters coming..okay, now here's where I felt like the movie was already starting to be so rushed. (Which is what I told Kit before she even saw it lol) I felt as if that scene lasted about 30 seconds whenever, in my opinion, it was a pretty big deal in the book. But still, I understood they had to get things moving along..so I suppose I understood why they made them magically appear on the train and at Hogwarts..*ahem* But I think that just made me feel odd, since they've always shown them getting on the train and then getting into Hogwarts so far instead of cutting to another scene, so not a really big deal, but still..
The Other Houses Entrance:
Right..uh..since when did Durmstrang and Beauxbatons become an all boys and an all girls school? Yeah..I thought this part was rather..stupid, but hey..nice fire Durmstrang. But..haha, I kept laughing the entire movie about how Moody kept drinking that Polyjuice potion like it was alcohol. That was hilarious, every 2 seconds *take another drink*
DADA Class:
Okay, Seamus..with the gum was just hilarious. Even though, I wasn't sure..and I had actually pondered this thought before the movie..do Wizards chew gum? But then, see, I think..since Seamus's dad is a muggle..maybe that's how he knows about gum..since I really doubt that any pureblood wizards chew gum lol. And wow..I'm a dork because I've really taken a lot of thought about wizards chewing gum.
First Task:
Okay, I don't know who said this..
Quote: Something I was disspointed about was not seeing all the preperation and anxiety before the tasks (due to time constraints). That was a huge part in the book. We didn't get to see him working away at Accio. but I totally agree, that was pretty much ALL I kept thinking about when the next task came. I was really upset about the Accio thing, 'Oh wow, Harry suddenly knows a new spell that Hermione had to help him with for weeks.' and all they added in about that was Hermione saying 'Remember, concentrate!' (If it was even supposed to be about Accio..) Fred and George: OMG, I absolutely fell in love with them in this movie. I had always liked them in the books, but now since they were shown so much more in this movie then all the other ones, I just love them. They were so hilarious. I just loved the part when Fred or George *doesn't know which one it was* was in Snape's class going *points at girl* *points at self* *does little dance movement then points at self again* That was just hilarious, as was pretty much all of their parts. I loved when they both sat down next to Hermione, on either side of her when she said "It's not going to wooork." Lines: I better just get this out of my system... Okay, where the heck was Draco half this movie?! *quotes Arwen* Quote: Lol Beri, you and Evenstar should get together; you both said the exact same thing about Draco not getting a big enough part! Lol Gah, but..I'm so sad! Where was my dear dear Draco? Oooh..wow..like 1 line at the Quidditch World Cup and I get to see his father whack him with his wand/cane. Then the ferret scene, which I had already seen online! I mean geez.. Also, I don't remember who said something else about this..but..someone said they thought Krum was a bad actor. Well..uh, yeah. I wouldn't be able to tell because for one I couldn't even understand what he said and for two, he only said about..what..*counts* 2 things in the entire movie? I know he didn't say much in the books..but gah 2 lines? Oh well..but I pretty much felt like most of the people in this movie, unless they were BIG BIG characters just didn't get that many lines. Even the champions didn't say much, but Neville was in this movie way more as was Fred and George. It's just odd..how they gave people bigger parts and then some lesser ones. But I'll shut up now Snape: It was just..too funny whenever he rolled up his sleeves and kept hitting Ron and Harry over the heads, I was dying. And then whenever he was blaming Harry for stealing all those things from him..he was just priceless this movie. Yule Ball: Overall I really liked it, and Cho, Fleur, and Hermione were so pretty at the ball. It was sad though, whenever Hermione pretty much just broke down about Ron not asking her, but it was hilarious when she screamed at them..I think Kit said something about this..the 'Into your beds now, both of you!' She sounded so motherly like she was punishing her children.. and Harry's expression was like 'Erm..*I'm not even apart of this argument but I will run away with Ron to bed because I am afraid of getting beat up by Hermione* But it was still really sad when she just dropped on the stairs and was crying. Very good part in my opinion. Quote: Y'know, like it was more like "Harry Potter and the Cedric Diggory Take Over With a Hint of Really Cool Effects And Shots to Try and Kill Harry Whilst Fangirls Swoon at Everyone's Hotness"?
Kit..lol, I love you. You're just priceless.
Okay, on another note..lol
The bathtub scene:
Oh my gawd..I was practically rolling around. Myrtle, was just..so hilarious in a sick sort of twisted..'I love you Harry, even if I'm dead' way..but it was great.
Cedric laughing/Badges:
Yeah..I noticed everyone talking about this..I really didn't get that part either..where he walked away laughing. Maybe they were trying to show he was laughing at like what a friend said..but eh. That was confusing. Also, was anyone else rather annoyed that they just 'decided' to bring the badges and everything into the movie just to suddenly walk out on that entire plotline about how Draco made them? That was..just stupid. I would have rather just not even seen them at all since they didn't even bother to go further into it.
Second Task:
I really liked it, Neville..was..just..haha. "OMG! I'VE KILLED HARRY POTTER!' *hugs Neville.* I love you, kid.
Third Task:
Right..well..I was trying to remember, and I'm pretty sure this didn't happen, but did Fleur start running around like a ninny screaming? That sorta made me mad. But I thought this was a pretty good part, I guess. I found it really sad when Cedric was asking Harry to bring his body back to his father.
And..now I've gotta run. So I can't do anymore of these. Oh, but one other thing I want to add before I go..did anyone else think that most of the people who hadn't read the HP books got like any of this movie? There were just a ton of parts that I noticed that a lot of people who hadn't read the books probably didn't even get at all...that's just me though.
