I keep hearing more and more people say “I’m not ready for a serious relationship right now,” “I just want to live for myself,” and so on. I’m not judging, I feel the same way. But it wasn’t always like this, so what changed?

You think it wasn’t always like this? To me, it seems like there’ve always been people who dream of family and relationships, and others who don’t care about it. It’s just that now we’re freer to choose how we live.

And yeah, life has definitely gotten faster and more complex. Information overload, social media, constant communication, the fear of commitment, and all that. Sometimes it really is easier to say “relationships aren’t for me” because being alone is simpler. That’s why sites exist for people looking for local girls to *beep* with, with no strings attached. But again, no one’s saying other options are impossible. If you want a relationship, you’ll find happiness.
