bah, post amount isnt important, its post quality that counts, who needs ranks anyway, they dont explain who you are or the thoughts you carry.
Ok so thats sounds weird coming from someone who holds the title of moderator....but I earnt it, I tried my hardest on the old forum (an this one) to post quality post all the time and I made it through every 'rank' I could and then became a moderator.
I'm sorry I'm touchy Ive just heard a few petty remarks about moderators, and people only wanting to be one because of the title

*pets Jo*
We appreciate the moderator function and we know you're all doing a great job on the forum, chat room and tag board. No one can be everywhere at the same time, and least of all on A-U all the time (except for the mighty Kitoky ofcourse, lol), so we are happy for the work and dedication you mods put into the site when you can, thus keeping the place clean and friendly. (Though we might need more mods on European time zones *coughcough*).

*gasp* No, the ranking is part of the fun here at AU. (that's why we want another rank)

Ranks are fun
Quote: - Hobbit - (Breelander - I'm not liking it too much but if we need more levels....) - Dwarf - Human (can't we call them something else... man.... mortal.. Younger Child of Iluvatar, dunno?) - Dunadan - Ent (imho the ent goes before elf, because the elves taught the ents to speak) - Elf - (High Elf maybe?) - Istari (I like the Istari idea, who cares if they're maiar.. they came to Arda and thus lost some of their "unlimited" power!) - Vala
This was the last list made. I think:
-Hobbit
-Dwarf
-Human
-Dunadan
-Ent
-Half-Elven
*-Elf*
-Eagle (I like the Eagle because Tolkien seemed to give them a lot of importance)
-Istari
-Maia
-Vala
-Eru (at like 25,000, you've gotta work to get here)
*If we had elf levels: *
-Umanyar (never started into the west)
-Sindarin (went but never arrived)
-Noldorin (entered Valinor)

^ I like that list, Beri! Although I'm still not keen on the Eru ranking - how about the last ranking you can reach being "Tolkien himself"? Or something like that...

Eru would be better than Tolkien I think
But I think Beriadanwen's ranking is very good. If you have 25.000 Posts or so you ARE like Eru - Only in this Forum, but you are like a little board-god, so I think that would be okay

So we've got people that want Tolkien and people that want Eru....hmmmm....why aren't you keen on the Eru ranking Arwen?
And do you think with or without different levels of Elves?

I personally would like different levels of Elves, just because we have people who post SO much *coughs and looks at Beri's post count* that we need lots of ranks for them to look forward to, but we don't want people to have to post so much to move up to the next rank that they get discouraged, either. However, Noldorin only encompasses one of the groups of Elves that reached Valinor - there were also the Teleri and Vanyar.
I'm not keen on the Eru ranking because...we have a lot of religious members, and I don't think having a ranking that makes you literally a god would sit well with them.
What would we do about the stars? It would be impossible to keep adding a star for every rank Maybe they could change colors after whatever rank reaches six stars? Perhaps in the colors of the rainbow (red stars, orange stars, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet!), and then for our Eru/Tolkien rank, they could be animated or something?

The whole elf thing confuses me, I've read the Sil but I just can't keep them straight. So choosing the different levels of elves should be worked out by someone more knowledgable then myself Quote: I'm not keen on the Eru ranking because...we have a lot of religious members, and I don't think having a ranking that makes you literally a god would sit well with them. Oh, really? I never thought of that but alright. I just don't love the Tolkien rank because it's nice to keep it all in terms of races in the stories. It doesn't really matter to me though. Oooo that sounds great!!
