Who do you consider, of all the books, the best army (except for the Army of the Dead, which is kind of unfair to name)? I will post my views later.
PS - This can include armies from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Silmarillion, the Unfinished Tales or the History of Middle-earth Series.

Im not quite sure, it would have to be an elven army, just because they train and perfect their skills over their long lives, but im not sure which i would choose

I think Elves, because I think they would have really believed in what they are fighting for.
I think orcs would have ... rebellion problems, and they would have not been prepared to risk their lives for each other... I think you need compassion levels, to an extent, to work as a team and effciently. I think that would have existed amongst the human - the gondorian and numenorian armies as well, but I think they ... might not have had the same dedication and anti-corrupt attitudes as the elves...

In the end, I believe, the best Army turned out to be an army of merely 4 (or 5 if you count Fatty Bolger acting as decoy) Hobbits, two of whom were sent on a desperate behind-the-lines mission. They were small, outnumbered, yet what they accomplished had the greatest impact on the war of the ring.

Dude...the army of the Valar, with all their accompanying Maiar.
If that doesn't count, then the Noldorin Elves. If you want to go even more specific, I'd probably say either Turgon's army or Fingolfin's army.

Well, they never actually fought a war. They were raeally great in the fact that they escaped from that, and managed to find away around fighting. In battle they may be fierce, bt there are some better.

I think Noldorin Elves. Especially in first battles of the FA. Like Dagor-nuin-Giliath.

I would think the amies of Gondor would be strongest. They were constantly fighting with Mordor, so they needed their troops to be well disiplined, properly trained, and experienced form all the fights.

Hmm.. the "best" Army ... Not counting Eru and the Valar wiping out Numenor, etc. I would have to say the 'best' would be the Numenorean army and navy. They were the mightiest conceived by a single entity in Middle Earth. Yes, Angband and Mordor likely had the bigger numbers, but the excellence in Numenor's armour and training have to be considered, and even Sauron was in awe of Numenor's might. The elves through the ages had great armies in the fact that their great skill and weaponry made up greatly what they lacked in numbers.
The 'best' assembly of an army had to be the Last Alliance, where the greater might of the elves remaining in Middle Earth at the time, along with most of the men of Arnor and Gondor marching on Mordor had to be awesome. I thought this was portrayed well in the movies.
The 'best' as far as doing the most with the least, would have to go to the Dunedain Ranger of the North. For over a thousand years, these Rangers guarded the lands around Bree to the north, and as far east as the Misty Mountains to where the Elves of Imladris watched, and to the south as far as Tharbad. Later, they for the most part were the sole protection of the Shire and surrounding lands. Quite a feat for mortals whose population numbers were always few since the losses during and after the Last Alliance, and the constant battling in the years before the fall of Arnor to the Witch King.

We are forgetting the Men of Dor Lomin guys; they held off the armies of Angbad for several days before they were overwhelmed, and their chief, on his own slew 70 foes before he himself was overwhelmed.
As for Valar and Maiar, thats just unfair. If the dead arent allowed, then the Gods and minor gods should be excluded.

True, but they were a host under the command of Fingon. Thus: The Union of Maedhros, was the Best LOTR Army ever, Bor and Ulfang excluded.
