I don´t think that they use money at all...cause they get everything they need from the nature and share it...

I'm guessing elves would have needed money when dealing with humans. The humans in Bree had money, after all...I'll read up and see if I can find anything...

I dunno what the use, but golden nobles are good old fashioned coinage for mythical lands, or even plain gold or silver pieces.
