You gave up internet for Lent? Yikes that must have been hard  Welcome back :)

I don't seem to be able to get the motivation together to start sewing at the moment. The last thing I made was a bag for my mum's birthday back in February.

YAY! You are back! You made a dress for easter? I'm jealous! Still pluggin' away at my Jr. Sr. Dress. Did I relay to you all the horror story about it? *shudders* Tis a seamstresses nightmare!

For easter I ended up wearing a Depression Era looking skirt and shirt. cute, but hardly what I wanted... but that's the breaks when you want to be an elf! LOL!

The story... The pattern I used called for some pieces to be cut while the material was folded, and others not. After being extrememly careful, I managed to cut one upside down. (one of the pieces labeled 2) Then, I cut the other one. It was late, so I left it pinned to the pattern, folded it up carefully, and put everything away. Later, when I went to pin the dress together, I unpinned piece 2, put the pattern piece away, went to pin it, and the piece I unpinned was gone. Vanished. Not to be found again, even unto this day.

If that wasn't trauma enough, I went to go buy more material, and discovered no one carried it anymore. This was more than bad. Twas downright horrible! After frantic hunting, I gave up, and decided to cut another piece from the scrap material.

After several failed attempts to get the pattern right, so that I didn't have huge gaping holes in my dress, I managed to cut out the missing piece and be missing only a tiny corner.

You can only imagine my ecstatic jumps and screams of joy as I held up the piece in triumph and danced around the house. I was scared silly that I would have to abandon the whole thing and buy a dress. Thank Elbereth it worked out!

now the body is sewn together, complete with the upside down piece, and I am trying to figure out how to do the back and the sleeves.

Wish me luck!

So do I! It's in two weeks, next week I am gone and cannot work on it, and the week after that is the week of. Tomorrow I shall be gone all day, so Saturday is pretty much my ownly hope. *crashes head on keyboard* I'm tired.

I want Cinderella's fairy god mother. or Aurora's from Sleeping Beauty. They make nice dresses!

So I guess quilting doesn't count?

Well, I've made pirate pants and a pirate puffy shirt...but they weren't exactly the best...so they don't count.

*sighs* Oh well....

Yay!!!! I'd LOVE to join!!! :bounce: :bounce:

I should tell you then what I've made.
I've made 4 quilts (for 4H) and plan on continuing to do so...lots of quilters in my family.
I'm also in the middle of making a bag. My aunt made me one and then I said I wanted to make one. So, that's an IN PROGRESS. Ha ha ha.

I should also say, that I do plan on making a piece of clothing. I plan on making an Obiwan Kenobi costume!!! Yay!!! That should be fun.

I bought a pattern for a Renaissance gown, it's so purty.

While I'm stuck trying to figure out what to do for my Requiem gown, I play on making this Renaissance Gown for the Four Kingdoms Renaissance Faire we have. It should be fun, I want to volunteer and be a noble lady, since the patttern is for the noble's dresses.

So could you please updated that? Just a renaissance gown.

Your dress is wonderful, Mrs. Gamgee! I love it.

I've had a problem with patterns too. When I was making my Elven gwon, I spilled water on several of my pattern pieces. Oh, the horror! So I rushed them dwonstairs, put them on a towel, and waited.

I also reipped part of my dress pattern off. the one for my requiem gown. I had already cut out he overdress, but I needed it for the underess. Now I'm stuck, because patrt of pattern piece #4 is ripped off. I need to tape it back together.

Mom did something to my black thread. I don't know what, but she bvorrowed it and I got it back and it was all screwy. I fixed it, but whatever she did to it is beyond me.

Lothril: Oh no! Why do you only have a week!? (probablly less now)

What pattern are you guys using for your Requiem dress? I have a Mccalls pattern, i have the link posted here somewhere :-P

Ellethwen, can i see the pattern you're using for Renaissance gown? I love those styled dresses! And where is it that they have that fair, they dont have that here :-(
Nothing exciting goes on in Florida :-P

On the update would you like me to put that you're working on the Renaissance gown?

And thanks for the compliment, its greatly appreciated, that dress took me a long time, but it was made,fo course, with help from a freind (who had never made drsses before) but hes a lot more experienced in it than me, but it was alot of work, and sometimes i just felt like giving up. Guess the hardest part of the whole dress?
