Wow, of all the scenes that you all liked, and all the Elizabeth hating for what she did, I agree with all of it!

SPOILERS

I don't hate Elizabeth for what she did. Granted, she could have been nicer and less sneaky about it, but she basically had two options. She could let Jack come with them and doom them all (since the Kraken was, indeed, after him alone), or she could leave him to die and save the lives of the remaining few. I honestly don't know what I'd do in her position, but what she did took tremendous courage and willpower. From the look on her face, she wasn't telling the truth when she said, "I'm not sorry." She's in a worse position mentally than any of the other characters because she's suddenly questioning who she is. All of her life, she's done what's right and always considered herself to be a good person, and now she's responsible for the death of a friend. What's more, she willingly tricked him and made the conscious decision to chain him to that mast, then lied about it to the others. His last thing to say to her was, "Pirate," and I think that really shook her up. Regardless of how good-looking and occasionally moral they can be, pirates are nonetheless a horrible group of people. They are self-centered, generally immoral, and ruthless enough to do whatever is necessary to get what they want. Suddenly, she sees that in herself, and she's scared. What if she's not the good person she thought she was? Does this change everything? Even though it was a very, very rough draft (hardly even enough to be considered an indicator of the script), one of my favorite lines in that early script of PotC 3 was Elizabeth telling Will that she didn't deserve him. She feels horrible about herself and needs a way to redeem herself in her own eyes. That's why they're setting out to save Jack in the third one. She has to prove to herself that she's still a good person.

Very, very well said potr. I completely agree with everything you said. It would be very hard in Elizabeth's position, and I respect her for what she did- and what she risked. I, too, really don't know what I would do in her position.

It's good if you understand it now since it's going to play a vital role in the third film...Liz' inner turmoil.

I know it did well even though Superman Returns and this movie kicked X-Men: The Last Stand out of the top ten :disgust:
