I finished the BBC version! It was very good! I think I still like the 2005 version a bit better, though. Mr. Collins is almost too creepy for me in the BBC. lol
I kept trying to guess when the wet shirt scene was coming up. lol. Then when I could tell I was there, I started laughing, remember reading about it on here. But anyway.
I really like the music, espcially the theme!

Good for you! That's a lot of movie. I really like the music from it too. I love the music from the scene where Elizabeth and Darcy are dancing together. That's a great scene.
Personally, I like the miniseries better, but that's just me. I think the actors/actresses are better and that it's more true to the book. Although, I was surprised at how well Keira Knightley played Lizzie. I wasn't really expecting that from her. I mean, I loved her in POTC, but I didn't think she could play Elizabeth Bennet. She proved me wrong. I actually thought she did a decent job.
I think I already asked this in one of my old posts, but I don't think anyone answered it. Has anyone seen the original version of P&P? The really old one? In black and white? With Laurence Olivier as Mr. Darcy? I haven't, but I was wondering if it was worth seeing.

I've never seen that one. But yeah, I agree, the music from P&P BBC is very good. I really like everyone...especially Mr Darcy!

^Hey Meldawen! I haven't [seen] you in awhile! :) It's good to see another poster here too. This club has been kind of dead as of late.
I agree with you. The BBC version was very well cast, particularly Mr. Darcy. No one else seems to agree with me though. They all like Matthew-Darcy better. :(

No, the best version was the BBC one with with Colin Firth, but it added more of a Darcy plotline whereas the Knightley version is more streamlined for when you don't have 300 minutes for a more leisurely viewing.

I have seen the black and white version several times. It does lack in cinematography and sets, but I do enjoy the actors and the ending has an interesting twist on Lady Catherine confronting Elizabeth.

I love the Colin Firth BBC version! It's almost exactely like the book!

The black and white one was so inaccurate I wanted to cry. I got a good laugh out of the inaccurate to the period costumes though!

^That's what I like to see! People posting! And agreeing with me! :)

I saw a clip of the black and white version and it did look kind of ridiculous. Also, when movies are innaccurate to the books, it tends to bother me to no end. So maybe I had better not see it.......

The BBC version is better, although it is quite a lot longer. 5 hours. Two disks. I remember when I first got it (for Christmas, so I had a long break after it), I watched it every day. I would watch the first half at night, nd the other half in the morning. And then that night I would watch the first half again. That continued for about five days. Then I decided it was unhealthy. :) Teeny obsession.
I'm not quite that into it any more, but I still do watch it every now an then, and I love it.

HAHAHA! I like to see that too... but I don't very often!

I can only stand one viewing of it every couple of months. Hehehe! It's too long to watch frequently. Hehehe!

Teeny obsession. Yeah. Yet to see one of those. LOL! Obsession is good though. HAHA!

We have a system - every year we watch P&P during the summer and on Christmas Eve. And during the year, every Friday night where nobody's doing anything, we watch half of one LotR movie. That doesn't happen often, so it works out to about six fridays a year.

That sounds awesome! I wish I had a groovy system like that. Although, it does tend to bother me to sit down and only watch half of a movie. I don't think I could do that.
I think I watch P&P about twice every year too. My whole family likes it though, so they always want to watch it with me, whcich can get quite annoying. Even my younger brother likes it, and he's only 11! And it's such a girl's movie. I tried explaining it to him, but he likes it anyway. LOL. *shakes head at little brother, but pats his head for daring to be different*
Yeah, the BBC version is apparently hard to come by. My mother had to send away for it through the mail, because they didn't have it in any shops. It was worth it though. :)

Oh, my whole family watches it too. And I have four siblings - two boys aged 7 and 12 and two girls aged 5 and 10. I dunno why they all like it so much, but they do. Oh, and my dad, of course. My mom's the big P&P fan in our family.

Well, we would watch it all, except me and my dad are really not evening people, and since we can't start it until after the littler kids are in bed (8:30 or so) we're not usually finished a half until 10 or later, which means my dad's starting to doze off and I'm trying really hard to stay awake. so it's more enjoyable to watch it in halves. Me and my friend are planning to do a LotR marathon before the end of the summer, so that'll be fun.

Wow, my mom picked it up at Wal-mart for not much. I guess it's gotten scarcer since then![/quote]

 Wal-mart? You got it at Wal-mart? My mum went hunting all over creation, and it was in Wal-mart? She's actually not the P&P fan in our family (that one's me!), and she doesn't really read much, so she hasn't read the book, but she does like to sit down and watch that with me.
That's so awesome that you and your friends are going to have a LOTR marathon! My friends and I did that too about a month ago. July 21st. I joined this forum two days before. We had so much fun. I made lembas! I hope you guys get to do it and have fun!
But since none of that really has anything to do with Pride and Prejudice.....*coughsorrymodsandArwencough* Let's move on to a different topic......
One thing I've found is really good for getting discussions going is asking questions about the topic. So I suggest (and you guys can shoot me down on this one) that we take turns asking P&P related questions. It would be a good way to keep discussions going and would help keep us more on topic.
So, my question: Who is your favorite P&P character and why? Note: it says why. That means you should give a reason. A good reason. We're not going to have a good discussion if everyone just posts the name of their favorite character or "Mr. Darcy cuz he iz so sxy! lol :)". So I think we should try to give good reasons for our answers.
I'm interested to see what everyone will say. Happy posting!

That's a really hard one! I like Jane and Lizzie and Mr. Darcy best. Probably Mr. Darcy though, and not because he's sexy, but because he's such a nice guy! And I love him, particularly in the BBC movie version, and you can tell he's falling totally in love. It's so sweet.

How did you make lembas!?!?! I want the recipe! I TOTALLY want the recipe! It's just going to be me and my friend I think, but I might see if some of my less obsessed friends want to come. Probably not :P

Alright. Meldawen. Since I don't really want to get of topic, do you care if I PM you about the lembas? I just thought I would ask, since some people don't like to be PMed. Let me know though.

As for me, I think I'm most like Elizabeth Bennet. Very like her actually. So I really like her. But being most like Elizabeth Bennet, I'd have to say that my favorite character is Mr. Darcy as well. And it's not just because he's sexy either (although he is that too), but because he's such a kind, loving, sweet hearted gentleman. It 's really sweet to see the way that the two fall in love. I love the scene in the BBC version where Darcy and Elizabeth are just looking at one another, but their looks have so much love in them. I thought it was really sweet!

Let me know about the PM Meldawen. Everybody else: post!

:),
