Well, he wasn't mentioned in the Hobbit. HE was probably still there.
I can see, if they made a Hobbit movie, a short appearence, maybe 15 seconds, and a line or 2 of dialouge, but nothing else. It would be nice to have Orlando Bloom as legolas, because it would tie in the Lord of the Rings, because you could actually see one of the Fellowship. It also helps that he is one heck of a piece of eye candy! Wait! Don't yell at me! I am not one of those screaming fan girls taht knows all about legolas, how old he is, his father, and many other details, and not even able to name all the members of the fellowship. So please don't yell. You, got to admit, he is eye candy

It would be nice to have a tie in with Lord of the Rings, but I also think it would be nice if the Hobbit could win our love without ties to the Lord of the Rings.

I think Legolas would be in the Hobbit because lets just face he isn't exactly young is he because he is over 3000 years old. Plus JRR didn't proberly have time to write in detail about the King of Mirkwood's history because with all that information would make the Hobbit confusing.

I would really like to see (if not orli) a small version of Legolas because it just isn't lotr without that legolas.

It has been my biggest fear that PJ will try to work Legolas into The Hobbit. Keep in mind that he had the audacity to cut Tom Bombadil (and the Barrow-downs), give Arwen Glorfindel's part, re-write Helm's Deep, and completely cut out the Scouring of the Shire (as well as several other offences). Not to say that I don't love the job he did with the story, but my point is, he's certainly taken the liberty of changing things up before. Maybe he won't, but here's how I see it:
Fangirls love Orlando. By putting Orlando in your movie, you add tons of people that wouldn't have even thought about seeing it without him. I don't think PJ will want to pass that up. Now, Legolas is Thranduil's son, so in theory he could have been there. He's not mentioned, but he could always be added in as an extra. One problem: Orlando Bloom's expensive. The money it would take to get him on this film wouldn't be worth a cameo appearance, even if he had one or two lines. So, here's my fear: to make the fangirls happy, but Orli worth the money, Legolas will be given a bigger role. Even, say, the leader of Thraduil's troops at the Battle of Five Armies and/or one of the Elves that captures the dwarves in Mirkwood. Needless to say, if PJ does do that, I will personally see to his assassination. Of course, there's the chance that he'll have the decency to leave Legolas out of it, but I'm doubting it.

The Hobbit isn't Lord of the Rings, though. It started it, but it isn't officially apart of it, if I'm correct.
I agree with you, pirateoftherings. The Hobbit doesn't need Legolas. If PJ does put Legolas in, I'll help you with that asassination.

I would hope not. I want the Hobbit to stand on its own. I think a lot of fans would be disappointed, if not angry. I know I would be.

I'd love to see Legolas in The Hobbit, Seeing he is my favorite character and all. But I don't think he should have a HUGE part, Since JRR Tolkien didn't even mention him in the book. A Cameo appearance would be great though, But I don't know if they could get Orlando to do a Cameo, Like Pirateoftherings said. And Legolas just wouldn't be the same without Orlando Bloom playing him. Like Gandalf, Elrond, and Gollum wouldn't be the same if there Original actors weren't playing them. And if Orlando Bloom wouldn't do the Part, Even for a Cameo, I don't see any reason for PJ to put him in the movie. But PJ may be willing to pay a large ammount for Orlando Bloom, Even to make a Cameo. Seeing Legolas has a bunch of fans and more Legolas fans will go and see it, Making more money for the Movie.
Anyways, Like I said, I'd love to see Legolas in the Movie, Not a HUGE part, But atleast a Cameo.

I think Orlando Bloom playing a Legolas cameo would spark a lot of people going,"OH MY GOSH! ORLANDO BLOOM WAS IN THE HOBBIT MOVIE! DID YOU ALL SEE THAT?!" Also, it could upset the other actors/actresses if Legolas was given a cameo and their characters weren't, even if they weren't mentioned in The Hobbit. Do we even know for sure if Legolas was mentioned even once in the Hobbit?
Sorry, haven't looked at the book in awhile.
Having fans go to see the Hobbit just for a Legolas cameo, as you said, Elven_Warrior13, might defeat the purpose for making the Hobbit in the first place. I'm not bashing you in any way. Just making a suggestion. Having the cameo help the movie make more money is good, though.

Yes please! And he doesn't even have to say anything... just be pretty would be enough
I don't understand some people who say they would like to see a 'younger' version of Legolas. He is 3000 years old, and the tale of the Hobbit was just about 50 (?) years earlyer then the war of the ring? So Orlando would do just fine. In my personal humble opinion ofcourse

If actors/actresses from The Lord of the Rings (Fotr-RotK), except Bilbo and Gandalf (Why do I want to say Elrond and Legolas, too...?), were in The Hobbit would possibly appeal to people who aren't hardcore Ringers, such as ourselves. If there weren't, than it probably wouldn't do as well, but would please Ringers who would like to see the Hobbit stand on its own.
I know I may have said this a lot. Please forgive me .
