Ok. I have no time to post this right now! Aargh! But Eariel, I am from the U.S. as well, but not from the East coast (you're from California right?). So we would have a time difference.
I am reminded of Frodo by a lot of Evanescence songs, but mostly My Immortal. I always think of Sam singing it for Frodo when I hear it.
I'd elaborate, but I really have to go now. Hugs to all.

Yep, i'm from California.
When i first heard My Immortal, i didn't know that it was by Evanescence (it was just a clip on someone's user lookup on Neopets.com ), so i thought maybe someone had written a song from Frodo's point of view, about the Gray Haven's. (It was the part that goes "These wounds won't seem to heal' and so on, so i hope you can see where i would think that. ) I can see Sam singing it as well, though. Both that one and My Last Breath seem to have a Frodo/Sam connection to me. If My Immortal could be from Sam's point of view, then i guess My Last Breath could be from Frodo's. Both songs have parts that could be sung by the other, though, if you know what i mean.
I saw a lotr video on youtube of Frodo set to Tourniquet (at one point Arwen seemed to be the 'tourniquet'--at that point when she comes after Weathertop --) and that seemed to fit. There was also a video on there of Haunted--the first verse was about Eowyn, and the second about Frodo. That was kind of cool too.

I'm back! Sorry for taking so long Eariel. Life is so crazy! I had to go back three pages in my posts to get to this. That's sad. Let's never let that happen again. Well really, I'll never let that happen again. Or at least I'll try.
A good friend of mine introduced me to Evanescence, and I really liked them. My initial favorite was Bring Me to Life, but very soon after that it was My Immortal. That was my favorite for a long time. Then, Imaginary was my favorite. Then Taking Over Me. And now, My Last Breath is, and has been for awhile. I don't really associate that with Frodo and Sam, but that's probably just because I associate it with something else in my mind. Tourniquet I can see though. And Haunted too. It's kind of weird how many Evanescence songs can realte to them. I wonder if they're LOTR fans.
By the way, did either of you get the Open Door yet? Just wondering. looking for a review.
I have major other posts to get done, but thank goodness I finally posted here. Talk with you later!

Your fave is My Last Breath, too? Good--it's mine, too.
As a matter of fact, i don't have The Open Door yet ( my mom's ordered it from online--might take a while, though), but i was directed (by our webmissy, actually--she posted the link in the Evanescence club) to this one site where you can listen to the whole cd online! w00t! Here, I'll post the link:
http://www.azlyrics.com/e/evanescence.html
All right, i realize this is way off-topic, but i'll steer it back toward Frodo by saying that speaking of Evanescence songs that remind us of him, there are a few on the new cd that do just that. For example, to me Sweet Sacrifice could almost be him talking to the Ring, and All That I'm Living For sounds like him talking after the Quest is over but he's still wounded by Shadow. I'm also reminded of post-Quest Frodo a bit by Weight of the World (though not as much), especially the line "I won't be held down by who I used to be". Also maybe by Lithium...at any rate, i love that song whether or not it reminds me of Frodo. You should really go and listen to that link. It's amazing. (If you want to know the lyrics, if you search on Google for "Evanescence" a site with the words should be about the fifth result. That site's been very helpful to me.)
All right, happy posting, TT! You're right, Evanescence does seem to be very applicable to Lotr in general, and to Frodo in particular. Yay for Frodo and Evanescence!

Thw whole CD? Online? For free? Hooray! I have no time to listen to it now. But I'll be back! Thank you thank you thank you for posting the link.
I saw the cover for the album and it looks amazing! Very Tim Burton-esque I think. I like it.
Hooray for My Last Breath! It's such a good song. I'm glad it's your favorite too.
Their songs can definitely be applied to Lord of the Rings, and especially Frodo I think. Frodo seems to have that effect on people. He inspires them. Not only in the arts, like drawing or poetry or music, but even just to be a good person.

You're right.
Well, I'm still the last poster in the poetry club, so I guess I'll post that Frodo poem I mentioned in...i think it was the E/F club...here instead. Don't want to continue to keep you waiting, TT, lol.
It's another one that i tried to do in Evanescence's style (you're welcome for posting that btw--hope you enjoy the Open Door as much as I do!) and in particular--at least regarding the first line--by All That I'm Living For. (<I've grown to like that song. ) Anyway, this song of mine is from Frodo's point of view after the Quest. Hope you like it...I'm not completely happy with how it turned out, so feel free to let me know what you think.
Lost, I am lost now--
For good or ill, I'm changed forever:
Ask for my laughter,
But don't demand my carefree gladness--
Someday perhaps I'll find it,
But I don't know when or where:
(So far away...)
The ghosts of Shadow haunt my footsteps,
In Darkness drowning--but it's daylight--
Can't you see it hanging over me?
Far more heavy than a stormhead--
How I long for sky-tears weeping:
Heal the dust of who I used to be...
Lost, I am lost now--
For good or ill, I'm changed forever:
Ask for my laughter,
But don't demand my carefree gladness--
Someday perhaps I'll find it,
But I don't know when or where:
(So far away...)
On an alter of blood and fire
I was Earth's sacrifice
Can you quench the flame and torment?--
Warm my blood from ice...
Only the Ocean calling forever
This time your love can't save me--
Dear one, the love you gave me
Is still my dearest treasure--
All I'm taking West...
(Last homeward journey)
I found joy in your golden smile--
Just as ever, sweetest Sunshine--
Don't weep that I'm dying in this Earth:
Come stay with me a little while--
We'll meet again where soon I'll sparkle--
My requiem is singing of rebirth:
Lose me to find me--
(And rise, sweet Pheonix, from the ashes):
Listen for my laughter--
I'll answer you with carefree gladness:
Someday soon I'll find it--
And dear one, I know where:
(Far, far away...)

As always Eariel, stunningly lovely. You have a gift. A serious, serious gift. Hopefully you use it well, and we may even see your books on the shelves someday!
I really liked this one. Not only do you love Frodo, but you're very good at getting inside his head and communicating what you find there with strong imagery. I think this really captures part of Frodo's feelings after his quest. It made me feel. Once again, I really, really liked it.
Bleargh! I still haven't gotten time to listen to the CD! I've been away from my computer for the past couple of days. And I have no time now. Hopefully tomorrow.

I know how life can be. Hope you get time soon.
Thank you (once again ), TT! That's a serious compliment, lol. I guess what makes it easier (i suppose) for me to get into Frodo's head is that he's someone I love...or I wouldn't be in this club, of course. Actually, what I would like to do is record some cds, since most of my "poems" are actually meant as songs...you just can't tell someone the music over the computer.

Aw, Eariel, I seriously think this is one of your best poems! It's amazing how you connected the Evanescence lyrics style with Frodo's feelings after the quest. Plus, this is a period of Frodo's life about which you can't read poems very often. So, I really liked it. I want more!

Bleargh! I have no time. I'm getting ready to go to some kind of anniversary dinner for my school. Very boring. But I'm going.
I have had no time to post over the past couple days. Sorry guys! I've missed you. Forever, yesterday a Simon and Garfunkel song came on the radio and I thought of you. By the way, I adore your new avvie. It's gorgeous! Did you make it?
Eariel's poem is beautiful isn't it? I really love reading her poems, and i heartily agree in the request for more.
I would type more, but I have no time! Hopefully I'll have time later! Love!

Aw, thank you both! (I'll keep in mind your requests for more poems like that. Actually, I have quite a few about the Grey Havens and all... *makes mental note to try and type some up* ) Actually, my most recent fanfic is in this period of Frodo's life, and there was another fanfic of that sort that I was thinking of writing as well...so I'll let you know when it/they is/are up. (Btw, I know i said that "the first line" of that poem up there was inspired at least partly by All That I'm Living For by Evanescence, but after I typed that and before I posted the actual poem, i changed what i'd written around a bit. So what i mean is, the line "The ghosts of Shadow haunt my footsteps" was inspired at least in part by "Lock the last open door, my ghosts are gaining on me" in All That I'm Living For. ) If all this makes sense.
Hope the school dinner isn't too boring, TT. I'm taking the PSAT test tomorrow (at a nearby highschool, tho i'm actually homeschooled), and i've been rather dreading it. It will be over probably by noon tomorrow, though, so...that's not too bad, i guess. Hope to post with you both soon.

I just took the PSAT Wednesday! That was part of the reason I haven't been on so much. Hated it. Felt really confident on the English sections. Left half of the one math section blank. It's not that I'm bad at math. I got the math award for my class last year. It's just that I hate it. Good luck Eariel! I bet you'll do really well.
OK. This is getting kind of ridiculous. I need to go to bed. Tomorrow. i promise. Night!

Haha, that's awesome that you thought of me I guess all of my friends (online and RL ones ) think of me when they hear a S&G song
Thank you, I'm glad you like my new avvie. And yes, I made it.
Eariel, what is it like to be homeschooled? I'm rather interested in this, because homeschooling isn't allowed at all here in Germany. So I'm curious

Not allowed? That's odd. I wonder why it isn't. I go to a regular school, so Id don't really know what it's like to be homeschooled, but I can definitely see where it would have its advantages. Not having to deal with stupid teenagers and getting to work at your own pace and getting to go to class in your pajamas.
So........ we seem to have been straying from Frodo related talk as of the last few posts. But we're actually just getting on to some really good Frodo talking in the E/F club. So I'm not really quite sure what to say here.......... I feel like not using any proper punctuation and just connecting everything with these little dots................But I'll stop now, and since I bet Forver has posted in the E/F club, I will go and see it.

I hope it's alright that I just jump in here! I haven't posted here in a long time so I feel sort of out of place.
So what fun things are you guys talking about concerning Frodo?

Well... *looks shifty-eyed* That's kind of what we were just wondering ourselves... (Btw, since you were wondering, I'll tell you that it is nice when you're homeschooled and don't have to deal with the pressures of public school--which i experienced only in 6th grade, but parts of it were excruciating--and to study in an environment you're comfortable with. I suppose it's not unlike how Frodo might have learned. I feel lucky.
Also btw, I took the PSAT today, and it wasn't as bad as i'd feared. I hope you did well, TT--English is one of my strong points as well, though i'm not impossible at math either. Seems likely that it would also be Frodo's strong point. ) Okay back to topic.........*must not become mesmerized by doing the same as TT *........I'm not sure what else to type at the moment (and besides i have to go to bed). Frodo rocks, maybe? (Very true, lol.)
