Itarilde! Hooray! It's lovely to see you here!

As Eariel said, we're all kind of floating around here, sort of wondering what to talk about....... I keep trying to think of things, but, sort of what Eariel said, things like "Frodo rocks!" Or something equally simplistic keep floating across my brain.
The problem is, we all know that Frodo is wonderful, he just is, it's a fact, and we all pretty much agree on it. What we need os someone who doesn't think Frodo is wonderful, so we can bombard them with arguments as to why he is wonderful. :P

I think i see your point--i'd rather just gush over how wonderful he is and why with other people who think so though, if you know what i mean. (I almost wrote "what you mean." ) But as it's been said, we don't really know what specifically to gush about, so to speak. ;) Any ideas?

Hm...that's difficult. There are so many things to gush about, it's hard to narrow it down to just one thing. His bravery, compassion, or the way he 'grew-up' perhaps?

Good suggestions--thank you for suggesting them. :P How about the way he grew up? I like writing fanfiction set somewhere in his pre-adulthood, so that topic would be fine by me. Don't you think Frodo must have been simply a darling when he was a young child? (Just like Lij. :P ) I mean, with all that innocence, gentleness and such good manners ;D , and also a wish to know about the Elves--and let's not forget his delightful spunk! :P (The Frodo Chicken Dance comes to mind, although that was when he grew up. It's kind of sad that the movie doesn't make a big deal of it being Frodo's birthday as well as Bilbo's--and his 33rd birthday, what's more. After all, it was the day he became an official adult. It's just one thing that I think the movie could have done differently, that's all. Who knows, though? It might not have worked as well as one might think. Anyway, it's a wonderful scene nonetheless.) So I'll end this post and see what you other people think. ;)

I think he would have been very enjoyable as a child. Especially being basically raised by Bilbo. He strikes me as the type of child that would be asking all kinds of questions to discover and learn about the world while growing up. He just seems like that type that's inquisitive don't you think?

Oh yes, definitely. ;) I like "visiting" him in his childhood years by writing fanfics.

This isn't exactly about Frodo's childhood, but I wanted to share with you guys another poem I've written. It's supposed to be during the Quest, sometime in Mordor. My inspiration was actually for the most part several songs by Evanescence :P , most notable Whisper, My Last Breath (the second verse where it talks about winter, mainly) and a little bit of Missing in the bridge.
Hope you like it (though from past experince it seems likely ;) ).

Snowflake,
Flutter softly
To me ere you melt away:

Floating--wind-borne feather-lace--
I miss your dance of gentle grace:
White foamflecks in a shimm'ring Sea--
That Winter's breath blew me...!

(Crushed neath all I bear,
I scream, "Is no-one there?")

Bid me to bleed
(My wounds obey you)--
Deny me the sky
(Drown deeper--Darkness):
One Doom I've sworn
(I'll not betray you)--
Send me to die!
(I rise to finish...)

Icicle,
I'd gladly give you
My heart to plunge your frozen tine:

Pierce through the Fire's darkling spells--
I miss the chime of icy bells:
Delight the living, fragile thorn--
Still sparkle unforlorn...

(Crushed neath all I bear,
I scream, "Is no-one there?")

Bid me to bleed
(My wounds obey you)--
Deny me the sky
(Drown deeper--Darkness):
One Doom I've sworn
(I'll not betray you)--
Send me to die!
(I rise to finish...)

Nothing have I kept from you--
(Broken, lost to all I knew):
Tell me that you wept for me,
Dying to know my home is free:

All you've ever asked I've done--
Grant me only this:
My treasure dearer than the Sun--
(You're there--I feel your love)

Bid me to bleed
(My wounds obey you)--
Deny me the sky
(Drown deeper--Darkness):
One Doom I've sworn
(I'll not betray you)--
Send me to die!
(I rise to finish...)

That was absolutely beautiful Eariel! Your words are so tremendous and so carefully arranged. Every thing is so easy to visualize, it's just gorgeous. At times you made winter sound like a piece of artwork (at least that's what I got out of it) You have a real talent. Keep up the great work!

Lovely as ever and always Eariel. Your poetry never ceases to amaze and delight me. :)

Itarilde, to you may I say, a very nice choice for discussion. ;)

I think that the child Frodo must have been somewhat like the Frodo we knew in the books and movies before he was so sobered. Young, carefree, inquisitive, probably just like Lij, climbing over and peering into everything. Yet, I also see him with this sort of otherwordly quality about him, "a touch of destiny" to quote a different movie ;). Just............being around him, you would get this sort of sense that there was more to him. That's what I picture anyways. And I love and agree with all of both of your thoughts so far.

If I'm blushing, it's with delight at your praise. :) (This is a poem i'm proud of, so it makes me really happy you like it.) Thank you! Itarilde, I'm glad it was easy to visualize for you--i think that's a quality worth striving for in poetry. Also, yes I guess i was presenting Winter as "a piece of artwork" in a way--something beautiful and worth longing for in contrast to the Ring's dark fire. TT, thank you also very much--i'm glad to "amaze and delight" my friends :) --and i also agree with you on Frodo's childhood being a good topic, as i think i've said. Yes, it would seem to me also that Frodo would have been carefree and all, but also with a touch of Elvishness, to paraphrase your quote. ;) I should go soon, but it was nice talking to you.

Yes, Frodo does have a certain Elvishness about him. Very reagal and fair. His age is a little decieving for the wisdom he grew up around. He's so much wiser beyond his years and I think that has a lot to do with his up bringing.

Yes, and also it's kind of an innate quality, you know? He's very different from the rest of the Hobbits. *sigh* :) lol
Btw, I have good news! I've been planning to put up a site for all my poems and things, and i've started to make one! :) I'm so excited! (I'm using Freewebs, btw, Forever, so if i get stuck i can ask you for help. :P It's not that hard though, i'm finding--at least, not compared to my previous attempt with a different host, though perhaps i just didn't understand their system well...) Anyway, my (mostly Frodo-related) poems and fanfics will soon have an online home. :) I'll let you know when it's (reasonably) up and working.

I randomly felt like posting a new Frodo wallpaper I made for a contest...

http://www.freewebs.com/starspray/Don%27t.jpg

Eariel, you're my hero! (Ok, second hero, close after Frodo :P ). You are working on your poem site now, that's so great! I've been eagerly waiting for it!! If you need help with Freewebs, just ask. And if you need someone to make you a header banner for the site, I'd love to make it! :-)
Loved the poem you posted above btw. ;-)

 That wallie is amazing Forever. Gorgeous. I love it.
Eariel, that's great news! I love reading your stuff, so it'll be great to have it all collected in one place, rather than just a poem here and there. That's exciting. Good luck with it! I hope you get it done soon. And I'd definitely let Forever make the header. ;)

^I'll definately keep her offer in mind. ;) (I'd like to make my own headers as well, though, so...maybe i could switch them around every so often, like A-U.com does, lol. That we I could take you up on your offer, Forever--which i do! *is impulsive sometimes :) *--and still make my own later, to rotate around. If that makes sense... )
I'm glad you're excited too, my friends! :) (Thanks again, Forever--it's good to have someone i can go to for help. ;) ) I've got to learn how to do all that neat stuff you do with graphics (That's definitely a wallpaper-worthy moment there ;) )...Still don't have Photoshop, though... Anyway, I'll let you know what the header banner should be when i decide. (I'd kind of like to have a different header for each page--each with the lyrics of a song in its section and pictures that sort of illustrate them, if you know what i mean--but i don't know if that's possible...)

That sounds like an amazing idea Eariel, and I'm sure it could be done. You're sites going to be so pretty when it's finished.
You're right. That definitely is a wallpaper worthy moment. :) As are all scenes with Frodo in them. I was so torn between taking a Frodo avvie or the Frodo and Sam avvie in your request thread Forever. But I decided on the one with Sam in the end, since I'm sort of going with that theme currently. I love how you had three different Frodo's. :P It just struck me as funny, but also great because of how much your love for him was showing even in the littlest things you do, and I'm sure that the Frodo ones are the ones that you like making the best. It's great.

I feel lucky to have claimed the last Frodo avi. It seemed like your avatars were going fast!
Thanks, TT--i hope it will be. It seems like i keep discovering new little nuances with the program, which i have to be aware of in order to make it work...Anyway, it's definately worth it. An online home for my love for Frodo, so to speak! :P (Or the poems that express it, at least... ;) )
