Indeed. I don't like Orlando as much as I used to, but I can certainly say he's a good actor! Better than half the others out there... the Brits always seem to be better actors anyway.

That is true. I won't say that Americans are good, but there have been some Brits that have really shook up the acting world.

Aye, without getting into religious debate, I'd have to say that that's not a very good reason for not liking the scene, AF. Yes, I'm a Christian, and no, I don't like seeing people in pain. But does that mean that I can't enjoy the scene both as a writer (for it was very well-written) and a fan (incredible acting in that scene)? There are many things that I won't watch because they make me uncomfortable, but that scene is certainly not "unwatchable." In fact, it's one of my favorites. Not trying to attack your statement, since basically all it comes down to is one's personal level of comfort with certain things, but in the future, let's avoid making such absolute statements, aye?
And, on a completely un-related note, I WANT MY DMC NOW! I'm so frustrated that the US is getting this later on DVD! Australia already has it, and the UK will get it shortly, but we still have several weeks to go. I just watched CotBP twice today (once normal, and once with the commentary from Keira and Jack...yay for being sick!), but now I want DMC even more. *impatiently counts down the days*

yeah! I really want the DVD too. I didn't realize the US was so behind. That really stinks! I want it NOW! but I guess wanting it that badly won't make it get here any faster!

^^Sorry potr, I should have been rather more considerate. *bows* I respect your opinion.
I want the DVD! I can't wait for all the special features... not to mention getting to watch any part whenever I want!

I still don't own the first one I'm waiting until it gets ridiculously cheap. Plus I can't watch it whenever I want, cause I have little siblings that it's really not appropriate for. But I may buy DMC, or wait until all three are out and but the box set.

^Yeah... same here... I can only watch it after my little siblings are in bed, and same with LotR. Luckily PotC is shorter than LotR and easier to watch between my siblings and my bed time.

Luckily my siblings are 10 and 12, so they can both handle POTC easily.
I liked the whipping scene, despite being a Christian. It was well written, well acted (as potr just said), and I kind of still have that middle school boyish lust for action and dislike of Orlando Bloom.

me and my two sisters are triplets, so if it appropriet for one of us, it's ok for all of us. Wich is good, 'cause we all like most of the same movies.
I'm a Christian too, I think that it was a good scene, very emotional, and had great acting and planing. I will say that I get kind of emotional in some stories, wether on screen or on paper, and I have to admit that my nukles were definatly white during that scene, and my heart rate skyrocketed. To me, descriptions of things like floggings, or in this case a dipiction, just make it that much more personal when I think about what Jesus did for me, I have yet to see the movie Passion of the Christ (the other PotC) but I kind of want to see it.
I hope no one was offended by me mentioing religion, but I'm not going to say i'm sorry either.
(I will also say sgain that I love father-son scenes.

I think I'm going to stay quiet on that scene from now on. I'm just going to get myself into trouble.
I love the scene where Will escapes from the Flying Dutchman, and Bootstrap gives him the knife, and Will promises to free him. That was one of my favorite scenes, though it was really sad.

I love that scene! It was really sad, but awesome. Another great father-son scene, but with less physical pain.

I hope that at the end of AWE, Will and Elizabeth marry and Bootstrap is freed and lives near them. He seems way too nice to be a pirate anyway...

As much as I love Bootstrap and hope for the best, I really think that death is the kindest fate we can wish upon him at this point. It would be amazing if he was somehow freed and lived happily ever after, but a man can only cheat death so many times, and Bill's already done it twice. That's not to say that I don't hold some glimmer of a hope for Mr. Turner, but I don't think I'd be distraught if he died. He's already endured far more than a man should have to, even at his age.
I just think that Bootstrap's destined to have one of those bittersweet endings that -even though it's sad- just feels right.

Yeah, I suppose I'd be ok if Bootstrap died. It'd be a happier ending then being in Davy's crew for sure! Although, it'd still be cool if he was freed and stuff, but like potr said, one can only cheat death so many times.

Hmmm... thinking about it, I'd almost be as satisfied if he died as if he lived... which is kind of strange. But really, it would add a bitter-sweet touch... yeah, actually, he could die or live and I'd be happy. So long as he doesn't remain in Davy Jones's service, I'm good.
