Subject: Disney's Robin Hood
Rating: G-PG. I wasn't sure about this, but it's definitely not over PG.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Off with his head!”
The words struck a sharp chord inside her, and her mind readily recoiled in disbelief. In the next instant, the sound of drums beating a death beat registered in her still-disbelieving mind, and tears sprang to her eyes. Burying her face in her lady-in-waiting’s shoulder, she cried freely, praying silently that this was not happening.
She had known immediately who he really was. She would know those eyes anywhere. Dancing with mirth they had been as they met hers, as they had so often done in their childhood. She had known him immediately, even shrouded as he was by that ridiculous stork disguise. Beneath the massive beak, she could just imagine a smile across his familiar features, and it had brought a smile to her own face. The flower he had given her, she had cherished dearly, and that very flower was even now clenched in her hand, stem broken by the pressure, petals on the verge of dropping to the wooden platform beneath her chair.
‘This can’t be..this can’t happen..not now!’
He just could not die now. Not after they were finally reunited after so long. So many memories flashed painfully in her mind, and try as she might, she could just not make them stop.
The time when they had first met, as very young children. She had fallen in the street, out of the watchful eye of her nursemaid, and he had been there, to help her up. The time when they were just eight, when they met for the second time, forming a friendship almost instantly... other countless times they had met out in the streets, retreating to the nearby forest to play: him always playing the role of the dashing hero, she, the beautiful damsel in distress. Many, many times they played thus, always laughing and happy, never sad until she was called away, and they were parted once again...
As the years had slowly passed by, these outings had still continued, and a stronger connection had begun to bloom as they grew older. After they reached their teens, however, the meetings turned from playdates, taking on the roles of hero and maiden, to walks among the trees, arm in arm, laughing and talking freely of anything and everything. These such meetings became more regular, more frequent..more accepted. One day, he even carved their initials into the bark of a tree, out in the garden, there to stand forever, a testament to the love that had been growing steadily stronger between them.
Not too long after that happy day, she had gone away to London, left him behind with promises of meeting again one day. True enough, she had kept her promise, she had finally come back..but she certainly hadn’t expected to meet like this, with him facing almost-certain death.
One thing Maid Marian knew to be absolutely true that day, as the tears still flowed freely down her face... if her beloved archer, Robin Hood, died that day, her heart and soul would die with him.
