I saw it! I want to cry! Had it been just a movie I would have loved it, but with the book.......Ugh. Saphira was very well done (even if she did have feathery wings) and Brom was absolutlely amazing. (Did any one else see a similarity between him and House whe he was talking about the pheasants?)

I don't know what else to write. I want to yell and scream about every thing. Oh, I know. Ajihad, how in God's green earth did you know Murtagh was the son of Morzan? Where were the Twins? Its all wrong! So very wrong!

I agree whole-heartedly with everything Larael and Haldir said.

My older sister was like "dude, the only reason you know Arya's an elf is because she has feathers all over everything!"

And no matter what anyone else says, I think they totally ruined Murtagh. *mumbles about idiot Murtagh*

As an adaption of the book, the movie is trash. As a movie, it's not half bad. I like it as a movie alone.

Maybe I'm just uberly easy to please..but personally, I liked the movie. Don't get me wrong, there were some things I wish had been put in, but..I'm not going to get all upset over it and rant. The way I see it, the movie is just a completely different story from the book..and that said, I still like it. I've learned to view the book and movie as completely seperate, with only a few similarities between them.

I was curious how the movie was doing so I went over to rottentomatoes.com and it has a 14% apporval rating 0_0. Ouch, I didn't expect that. Apprently critics are not pleased with the adaptation of the book.

Someone said too much was taking from Star Wars 0_o in the movie and the book was stolen from LOTR. And another said there was too much tech stuff and the actors were pretty much left on their own.

In a way it's a little sad because Fox was expecting it to hit LOTR fame and maybe it will I dunno, sometimes the critics don't share the same viewpoint as the general audiences.

I agree with Raven. I mean, yes, there are a few choice things that make me upset, but I liked it. I just saw it, and I like it. And I hope that they will continue the trilogy. The only thing that really bothers me is that there are so many people who hate it! I want to share my fandom with people, and yet they can't because they now hate it so much! [/speech]

Well, at least one person agrees with me..and I also hate it that so many people 'hate' the movie now. It's just rediculous..

I actually agree with you two. Like I said, it's not a good adaption of the book. If I look at in that light, it's horrible. But as a movie... I enjoyed it. And I know so few people who did. :( I want to go see it a few more times in theaters, in fact.

Same here. It was very good! And though I do miss Solembum in particular, I love the movie! I would love it if I could see it again in theaters! lol, I love the scene(sp) between Roran and Eragon at the starting. :P So sweet.

If I get the chance, I'm definitely going to see it again. And maybe next time, there won't be a noisy crowd in the theater..-.-

For me, as a person who has not read the books, I would rate it a B-. Just as a movie. I didn't feel it. It didn't bring meaning to me. For one, it could've been longer, I felt they were rushing a lot of stuff. I just didn't feel for the characters when trials came before them.

When Brom died, I was really just "Aww. Too bad." And I really liked Brom, but they didn't build enough of that sympathetic emotion to his character that the audience can pick up. Roran's leave seem a bit like a sword among knives. There was a big deal about his leave, but it didn't add to the plot; I'm guessing for future movies?

Murtagh, I hear was a big character from the books but they just didn't BUILD on his character enough. I felt he was cheated, he had no real characterization, one mention that he's a traitor and the audience can easily write him off as a villain when I get the feeling there's more to it. Poor Murtagh. Not to mention he's a real cutie.

They did a fairly decent job with Eragon's character; he developed, but when they kept giving him these spells and magic tricks to perform I was lost and going, "Wait, when did he learn to do that ? What IS that? What did he just do?" I did like the deep, inner, philosophical side of his character.

[not exact quote]
Eragon: "Why did you choose me?"
Saphira: "We look to the heart of the rider."
Eragon: "But I am not without fear."
Saphira: "Without fear, there can be no courage."

Saphira is by far my favorite character. And the voice of Rachel Weisz, SCORE! She was just an amazing character and what a personality!

First and foremost, I was VERY disappointed with the battle scene at the end. I liked the Dragon fight between Eragon and Durza but there just was not enough of the ground battle fight. I didn't like how the Razac was SO dependent on Eragon and Saphira, I felt that even though they needed them to WIN, that they could hold out a good fight; that they had tricks up their sleeves too that didn't involve a phantom dragon.

Did anyone notice that Durza got uglier as the movie went on?

Just an observation; he totally rocked.

Arya. Not enough characterization on her part as well. So she goes and steals the egg from King Galbatorix and then get's captured by Durza as bait for Eragon. Okay. But, who is she? She's a Princess apparently from a place formally known as Alas Mera (sp?) but what kind of place is that? Is she a human? An elf? I'm hoping she's not a dwarf.

Speaking of dwarves....

Where were they? Are they, too, locked up in the Mines of Moria?

The scene with the Fortune Teller. I'm sorry, but as a non-book reader, was that supposed to fly over my head? Because I was officially lost at that point.
I totally need to read the books.

Overall, the movie was beautiful. CGI was just fabulous. WOW! What a dragon! Beautiful beautiful CGI work.

Haha the theatre I went to had about ten other people there.. really empty :D

I liked Eragon as a movie and not a book adaptation though.. but as a book adaptation, it's not perfect but it can fly by me ^_^

Very good question that I'd like answered also. At this rate, with so many things missing from the movie there will be no way the film makers can produce the 2nd film without causing confusion. :disgust:

I'd also like to point out that not one line from the books was ever said in the movie. At least not any obvious lines. The screen writing was some of the worst I've ever heard. I've never been to a movie such as this where some of the [supposedly] most important/serious lines in it made me want to burst out laughing. It was ridiculous. They were mediocre! Especially Eragon's "Fly to the sky to win or to die." Something like that.. I was too busy laughing my head off at that point to really get the quote down.

And... as Kit said, Durza totally rocked my socks off! He was possibly the best character in the whole entire movie. He was the only one I felt stayed true to his character. A cookie for him then.

I would also like to take a moment and say: To those who have not read the books- please do! The movie is nothing like the book. It's better. So, so, so much better. Please take my word for it.

Ack!
Thank you thank you thank you!
Character build up is the biggest fault of this movie. Even with Eragon, I mean the lack of characterization for any of them was probablly the biggest thing for me.

I also totally agree with the feel of the movie and what you said for Brom. (besides the fact that i absolutely HATED the way he died) it was simply emotionless.

Same goes with the battle scene, where was the tension? The heightening emotion that makes you stand at the edge of your seat? Is this not the beggining of all battles? The claimax for the movie?
I personally thought it was tad bit BORING.

There were a couple things i disliked:
Where was the training? Aragorn can barely fight Brom, and two days later he kills Durza....ok?
He all of a sudden knows all these spells?....right.

When he leaves to fetch Arya, leadignt o Brom's death (in the movie) oooooohhhh, I could go on forever about that scene and the things he did wrong!

When Eragon discovers for himself of Brom's dragonrideing past.- NO!NO!NO! ooooohhhh.....I burst there, everything up until that point I could frgive, lack of names and events, but when Eragon finds that out for himself the rest of the movie went downhill.

Angela was completely out of plac,e if they didn't mention her at the Varden, why put her there at all?

I could continue but I think I'll stop. As a movie on it's own it gets no more than C-. It lacked character, emotion, feeling, something for the audience to relate to, and did anyone else notice how FAST it went by?
*sigh*
quite a dissapointment
