No, I think the guy who played Durza is someone completely different. Well, the producers of Eragon now dug themselves into a little pretty hole. They will have to make a sequel because all the little Eragon fans will demand one but they haven't developed any of the characters or inserted any of the necessary plot elements in the first movie in order to make a sequel. They might have to put Eragon elements into Eldest.

Um, your brother was wrong. Durza was played by Robert Carlyle and Brad Dourif played Grima.

hehe, yeah I know. Caunion said it above. But now that I do think of it, Durza and Grima seem..almost like they'd be best friend both creepy dudes...only, I'm sure Durza could kick Grima's butt in a dueling match

I had actually thought Jason Isaacs was playing Durza before I saw it but I was wrong.

Well, I went to see it yesterday...I was thinking all throughout the movie:
-I love listening to Brom talk! i'm a Lion King fan, so YAY SCAR!!
-I finally understand what people are talking about when they say 'growing up within seconds in the clouds was weird'. I didn't actually think the few seconds were real time, but Eragon's still standing there!
-Durza had red hair. Arya had red hair. To tell you the truth, I mixed them up during the battle scene, which reminds me--
-The battle scene. That was a little...abrupt. There was almost no build-up to it. Look, we're at the Varden--Let's fight!
-When gearing up for battle, they show Saphira's armor and Arya tells Eragon how they just made it. Later, it's not even the same armour! That confused me.
-Arya was...odd. The running through the woods was so out there."Hi, Eragon. I'm Arya. Come save me." I kinda got nervous when Eragon was pulling on her shirt to see the wound Durza poisoned...She was a little to close to Eragon--emotionally. She's more detatched from him in the books, but not a big deal.
-Although the Ra'zac were different from the book, they were pretty nicely creepy!
-Suprised by how human both Urguls and Elves were. Were there even dwarves in the movie?
-The Angela bit was random! It was hard to understand what the point of it was.
The things that bothered me most was that they tell how Arya is a princess and Murtagh is Mozan's son. I still have to read Eldest! I want to find out myself!
Anyway, that's just what I was thinking...

i saw it on friday, but havent had chance to criticue
-Brom,amazing character, he was not elaborated on enough...and i too love listening to his voice, my friend didnt beleive me that the actor was the voice of Scar
-Arya, waste of time and energy and money, if your going to make an Arwen rip off, at least make her plausible and visually appealing, all the guys i went with were retching at the sight of her...
-Saphira, a pleasant suprise, she earns five stars, despite the fact that she has feathers, and its been confirmed, she is a four legged chichen with mange, but her voice was amazing and i loved her eyes.
-Eragon...he was a meh actor, he had too weird facial expressions and it bothered me...
-Durza, well...get yourself a tan man, and actually look like you know what your doing please...
-Murtagh...umm...semi cute...he also needs to get himself a tan, maybe him and Durza can go together
-Time, oh my gosh, compression, compression, compression! I understand editing but not that much!
-Urgals and Elves were let downs, where the heck are the Urgals horns?
-Varden, to gypsyish, Ajihad and Nasuada were boring and lifeless
-Angela...if you looked at here, you'de think wheres the Greek resturant, sheesh woman, get old and find yourself a werecat...
anyways, 2/5 stars, suprised i even wasted my time on going to see it but Saphira in the end was worth it, everyone else, not so much(except Brom)

Oh, oops, sorry. Yeah, you're right, I could see them hanging out. Well, yeah, of course Durza would beat Grima. Grima's just a human (I think? Maybe? Don't know) and Durza is a really powerful spirit...thing (Shade, I'm still not entirely sure what that is). You guys know what I mean.

actually, I liked Arya, the actor who played her - in the book she's so such an Arwen sort of character, making her different was, I think, a good decision. but all the fur and feathers she was running around in the whole time?? my goodness, is she animal-friendly or not?
I liked Durza too, although his slow "I'm eeeevil do my bidding" lines got a little repetitive, and Saphira was wonderful - the idea that dragons grow to full size when they fly for the first time was interesting.
brom = awesomely cool. voice = awesomely awesome.
eragon - I dunno, I kind of like him, he seemed to do an okay job. murtagh, NOT ENOUGH. garett hedlund is not really how I pictured murtagh, though, but it makes it easier to see how he could be Eragon's brother. but I swear, when he pulls up his shirt to show his scar, I seriously thought he was flashing them "HAHA I should make an icon"
(icon: clip of murtagh lifting up shirt, then freeze, text: "OMG LOL FLASH")
the part where Eragon dreams about Arya "save me save me!" and it was really durza sending him a false dream I totally missed - my mom, who's never read the books, got it and I didn't.
overall, my rating: bad. bad. director has no brains.
and then at the end where it has Galbatorix and his dragon all "RAWWWR" and scary, and it cuts immediately to a nice ending song - anticlimactic. it was the final blow for me.

I'm going to see it again on Saturday. As I've said before, as a book adaption, I can't stand it. But as a movie, I like it, even if there still were some stupid things. Like:
Murtagh & Eragon: Hey Varden! We're here!
Ajihad: OMG, look at the goth who looks like Morzan! He must be Morzan's son! Let's throw him in a cage!
Murtagh: Whaaaaa....?
I didn't know the Varden caged people just because they look like their father.

Oh THAT'S what it was! I was so confused! She seemed to send him a dream and then totally be horrified when he came to do what she told him to. But I get it now. I'm also happy that she didn't actually say "You're the only one who can save me" and then dance off into the mist. Not cool. So I'm glad it was just Durza manipulating Eragon

I saw it yesterday. Shallow, too quick but still, imo, better than the book.
I couldn't tell difference bewteen Arya & Eragon But I must say Durza and Murtagh very rather lovely ... hot ... ubersupersexy!

^Umm what were you doing darky? How could you miss 1/4 of the movie???
I read over some of your reviews and now I really want to see the movie, at least because it sounds quite funny.. but then again I've been called a tasteless, blasphemous person because I thought Star Wars was funniest when it was unintentionally funny.

I can't wait to see it again... I tear it apart, but I actually do like it.
