True, that is. Also I think she just wanted to get away from her "Perfect" sisters and have all the attion on her. Rather she thought of the intentions no one will know. As for Whickham I think your right, but also he minipulated Lizze and her whole family in believing he was good and Darcy bad. That his whole motive was to drive them to him not agenst him. As such that part was tords Darcy and to get him back.As every one knows the truth would come out about Whickham and the good guy, Darcy would be revealed and all was set aright. But what got me was how Darcy preposed the first time to Lizze, it was heartfelt but als horid. Mr. colliens did no better. I felt horid for Lizzie. any thoughts on Colliens or Mrs. Benet? Those two are a pare and are soo annoying! LOL

I must say that I think Wickham ran off with Lydia because of *cough* *cough* How does one phrase this delicately? Well, just keep in mind that they were living together. I don't think it had much to do with Darcy--no one knew he was in love with Lizzy at that point except Lizzy and Darcy and she hadn't even known until he told her. I do think that Wickham wanted to make the Bennets and indeed everyone else think that he was good and Darcy was bad.

That's a fair point Firiel. Yep, I know what you mean, and yep, I agree that that was definitely a factor.
As for Mrs. Bennet and Mr. Collins, I found them quite funny, but Mrs. Bennet more so. Mr. Collins creeped me out, so it kind of marred the humor he brought to the story. I can really relate to Lizzy with having embarrasing family like Mrs. Bennet, because, although my mum may not be as bad as all that, she and my other family are definitely very embarassing sometimes.

I got the BBC one for Christmas! I've only seen about an hour of it, but I love it already. I have to say, Jane in the new version seems to fit better with my idea of her. I do like Lizzie in this one though. And the sisters are so more detestable because they have more development.
I also found Mrs. Bennett and Mr. Collins funny, but something about Mrs. Bennett irked me. She got really annoying sometimes.

I'm glad you're liking it so far! What a great Christmas gift!
I like Jane better in the BBC version. I thought that in the new one she was more of just a pretty face than an actual character. The sisters are definitely developed much further in the BBC version, and it definitely adds a lot to the story.
As for Mrs. Bennet, she only irked me as she was supposed to. I thought she was an almost perfect transfer from the book the the films. Alison Steadman (I think that's who played Mrs. Bennet.) did a wonderful job of it.

I also got the BBC version for Christmas. I haven't had any time to watch it yet, but I can't wait.

Yay! More BBC watchers!
Anyway, about the whole Jane thing - I can't decide. In the BBC version I always thought she should have been prettier, because she's supposed to be prettier than Lizzie and I think Lizzie is easily prettier than her. Whereas in the 2005 version, they're BOTH gorgeous! It's hard to say

I think Lizzy is prettier in both versions. I know, I find that weird too. I guess they just subconsciously pick the best looking people for the main roles.
I've always really liked that aspect of Lizzy in the book though because she is pretty, but she's not the prettiest. her good looks are just.... quieter(is that a word?) I guess. Not so striking as Jane's. I think that makes her more likable. That's one of the things that sets P&P apart. The heroine is not the prettiest or the sweetest character, and the hero, though handsome, is certainly not the most likable person in the world. I like how P&P didn't go with those same, typical preset characters.

I'm sure it will be fine if you join, although we don't see much of Arweb, the club founder. She's got enough stuff to worry about without updating members for clubs and such.
Welcome though! It's always good to have new members. They stimulate conversation I think. And I love Mr. Darcy as well. Which one do you like? Colin-Darcy all the way for me!

I have to say that I loved Matthew-Darcy...but now I've seen the BBC. And Colin Firth is AMAZING. Love him to death in that movie. And you're totally right Tinuviel, I think the main reason people connect with Lizzie the most is because she isn't the prettiest or the nicest.

Yes exactly!
Though, I think in the Kiera version, Jane's a bit prettier than Lizzie, in a sweeter way.
Kiera's bold....fierce, if you catch my drift.
But I especially agree with what you said, especially since theres a very small percentage of people in this world who think they are the prettiest and the brightest, we all relate to Lizzie...and I dont want to reiterate what you and Nurratiel have just said so I'll just stick with agreeing and nodding.
LadyofRohan:Like mother like daughter! Welcoem to the club, and as for me, Colin-Darcy:for the win! xD

I've never seen the other version, but I liked Matthew as Mr. Darcy and Jane and Mr. Bingley were adorable together!!

Jane and Bingley...they are so sweet! I have to say that I liked Bingley's appearance better in the new version, but his character was so much better developed in the BBC so I end up liking him in that one more!
@Ms. Gamgee - I understand what you mean about Kiera being bold. She stands out from other people, whereas Jane is kinda there, and you don't notice her until she is brought forward to your attention.
