Welcome! I'm sure you can join! Arweb is probably a bit occupied at the moment, as I think Tin said earlier, but we're glad to have anyone here who likes P&P!

Quote: I'm sure it will be fine if you join, although we don't see much of Arwen, the club founder. She's got enough stuff to worry about without updating members for clubs and such.
I guess Arwen would let you! Welcome!

New members! *huggles* I love new members!
I thought Mr. Bingley was REALLY cute in the 2005 version, definitely the best looking guy in the film. I really wish we would have gotten to see more of Bingely and Jane's relationship, and consequently, more of him.
I love that scene where he's talking with Darcy and trying to figure out how to tell Jane he loves her. I thought it was so sweet and funny.
Something else: Everyone said Mr. Wickham (Rupert Friend) looked exactly like Orlando Bloom. I don't see it. I don't think he looks like him at all. Well, maybe a little, but not as much as everyone was saying. (By the way, I think Orlando is better looking, although I'm not the Orlando fangirl I once was. ) What do you guys think?

when I saw the movie (this autumn actually), I was awed and thought: Is Orlando in this film? but then I realized it wasn't him. I think he looks like Orli, but Orli is definately better looking! (I'm still (+probably always will be) a fangirl of his )

Whoa. We seem to be getting quite popular. A bunch of new members. Welcome to all you guys.
Really Inwenyare? I just don't see it. Orlando is definitely better looking though. While I'm no longer a fangirl, I still endure the aftereffects of being one, meaning that I can't throw out my posters of calendars or pictures I have of him yet.
Here's a question for you guys: who do you think are the best people for the role sin P&P? Who do you think would make the best Mr. Darcy or Mr. Wickham or Lizzy or any other character? I think it'll be interesting to see what people you guys say.

Sadly, I'm one of those who are unable to picture other people in roles I've seen. So I can't say who would make the perfect people. I think Keira is really good as Elizabeth, though. Only they've made her a bit too plain for my liking...

Re Jane's looks: I've read that for the BBC version they cast a Jane that would have been considered more beautiful than Lizzy during Regency times. Having seen both I think I like the 2005 version better on this point simply because it makes more sense to modern audiences.
Allison Steadman is HILARIOUS as Mrs. Bennet. I loved her performance.
I honestly think that the Colin Firth/Jennifer Ehle pairing was the best possible and actually the casting for the BBC version was pretty much perfect, IMHO. I loved Crispin Bonham-Carter as Mr. Bingley. Every time he comes into the room I smile which is basically the way I felt about book Bingley too. The red hair in the 2005 version annoyed me since that definitely wasn't popular in the time period. Obviously he can't help having red hair, but I didn't think it was Bingley-y.
I have to say I did think Wickham looked like OB.
Wow, this got long. Sorry!

Mr. Wickham in the 2005-version is hot! Don't you think? I mean, he's just adorable, and you can't possibly imagine the guy lying. I like him^^

I thought Mr. Darcy was the 'bad guy' at first, not Wickham!

Wickham is pretty attractive in the 2005, but not in the BBC version.
Inwenyare, I know what you mean. That's what we're supposed to think in the beginning. That Wickham is good and Darcy is bad. I think that makes it ten times more interesting and it makes Darcy seem ten times sweeter when we find out that he's really the good guy. It's one of the things that makes P&P so good.
As for other casting, I don't know. I LOVED Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy and I couldn't imagine anyone playing the part better than he did, that much I know. In fact, the whole casting for the BBC version was amazing. I didn't care for their Mr. Wickham, and their Jane was so-so, but everyone else was almost exactly as I pictured them. It was as though they'd walked right out of the pages.
Firiel, don't be sorry! Long posts are good!
