Actually, one thing that I've been considering trying is an RPG where everyone plays every character. Instead of just posting for a single character, there would be an approximate length that each post should be. That way, there's no waiting for someone to come online or worrying about not knowing what to post. If you don't know what you should write or can't get on for a few days, there's no need to worry because you're not solely responsible for a certain character. It'd also help to avoid downtime when one character isn't needed for a while, so their RPer has to just sit and wait.
It'd be kinda tricky to work out details, and it'd require experienced roleplayers that can slip into multiple roles easily, but it could be fun if done properly.
Any thoughts?

I think that would help writing abilities tremendously because you would have to thoroughly assess that character's personality. But would that also lead to schizofrenia? Because different people bring out different traits in a character. And most people believe they can play that character better than everyone else.
Has anyone taken the Mary-Sue/Marty-Sam quiz yet?

Yes.
*hides*
I did it for my Elf character and got eighty-something, which I wasn't pleased about, but I should go back and do it for other characters. I have a baaaad feeling that I'm too prone to Mary-Sues, though...
EDIT: Pooh. 41. And I did think she was pretty original.

^^That sounds like a good idea, potr, I'd be interested if you ever started something like that...

That sounds interesting, but I still cringe at the thought of trying a female character. Still, it could be fun, potr.
Lol--I just tried Tal on that quiz and got a 13. That's the lowest so far.

Wow, SG. That's talent. I told you Aearion was a good character. How many boxes did you check? I think I checked 5 of them.
Lol--I've gone back over the test twice now. I decided that since they ask first if my character uses magic in a typically non-magic world, and then they ask if he's got healing powers, it would really count as just healing powers, because that's not really magic in the normal RPing sense of the word. He doesn't cast spells or anything...
Plus, he doesn't take on more guys than can be counted on the fingers of one hand using his kick-butt skills--he burns them down with his fire manipulation, but that's not a skill, it's an ability. So I took that one off, too. He went from 20>15>13

Thanks! And yes, you may say 'I told you so' if you wish, as originally I thought him a bit MS... And I'm not sure how many boxes I checked... I would tell you, but I'm testing a different charrie right now.
Wow! 13 is great! I am testing my charcter for Unkown Power right now, so I'm gonna go and finish...

I don't really have any original RP characters, but I ran through one of my fanfic characters that may eventually become an RP character if the opportunity arises, and she got a whopping 13 (and that was with checking off a few iffy ones). Some of them I couldn't really tell because yes, she has a strange name that I made up, but she's a Twi'lek from Star Wars, which means that she'd be weirder if I named her "Jane Smith" than she would with her actual name, Ailyn Viet. So...yeah. Still proud of that score. I don't really create Mary Sue characters anyway, but it's good to know that I'm well below the limit.

Yeah, always good to know you are good.
well, I tested my charrie, Suakii, some of you probably know her from Unkown Power, and anyway, she got an 18, though for RPG charries its not that bad.

Ooh, I just tested Valinn Sasken (another fanfic character that I'm using in an RPG), and he only got a 7. Yay!

I took the test for a new charrie, Gavin, and only got a 3. Of course, I haven't had him for very long, so it was hard to know about some of the questions. It might go up after I get more used to him. lol

I tested one of my characters and got a freakishly high 66, and another of my heroines got a 53. Problem with me is that I've been with those two characters for years (both with rp and with my story) and I've started to idolize them.
The quiz told me to kill them, but heck I'm not changing anything.
