I don't find bits of Star Wars amusing...just bad I especially hate the Padme/Anakin romance bits! Did they try to have any emotion in their dialogue at ALL? Or did they both get replaced by droids?
I like it too, and I want Eldest to come out!

I found the script kinda cheesy. The "witty banter" when Eragon and Roran are fighting was a little lame and the whole "fit for battle" gag was EXTREMELY cheesy.
Someone want to explain what was with Saphira's armor? When Eragon is getting his gear on, he spots Saphira's armour and Arya does this whole explanation about how they just made it so Saphira--their best hope--and her rider will be safe. Later, when Saphira comes out with *her* gear on, it's completly different armor!

I finally saw the movie last night! I was kinda dissapointed with the ending though, because it kinda just left you sitting there. I havent read either of the books so I should probably do that to figure out what happens. Are they coming out with a second movie?

yeah - I'm thinking it totally threw off the fans, the people who really read the book, to have the dream be fake, because the fans were expecting a real dream but it was fake and yeah... silly, silly movie people!

I'm also happy that she didn't actually say "You're the only one who can save me" and then dance off into the mist. Not cool. So I'm glad it was just Durza manipulating Eragon

Same here. I saw it Friday, and then spent Sunday with a friend who also read the book. We went over it over and over and criticized it a lot, but yesteterday my family went and saw and I was happy about it. Crazy movie, making me like it when it's so wrong...

Kill them all - leave none alive, is a very clichéed bad guy line, so if the rest of the script keeps that standard.... hmm..... I'll just have to see for myself...

I read over some of your reviews and now I really want to see the movie, at least because it sounds quite funny.. but then again I've been called a tasteless, blasphemous person because I thought Star Wars was funniest when it was unintentionally funny.
i had to go somewhere...so yeah. And the thing with the armor...it did throw me off, i was confused as to why they would change the look of it...after he had already saw it.

I finally saw it....
.....
...not impressed. So much for non-book fans enjoying it, too, because I saw it with my mom, who hadn't read either of the books, and she thought it was terrible. All I can say is...
Saphira = very good. The cgi was perfect, she was adorable as a baby, very majestic as a grown-up, and Rachel Weisz's voice worked nicely.
Jeremy Irons = quite good too. But I knew he would be.
Ed Speleers = pretty good. I found myself liking him by the end of the movie...he wasn't as annoying as book-Eragon, actually...
Murtagh = not bad. For the four seconds he showed up, at least...
Arya = not bad either. I was surprised that she didn't bother me as much as I thought she would. I didn't mind how much she "came on" to Eragon, either, since at least in my mind, it's a given that she'll wind up with Eragon in Book 3.
Scenery = pretty. Nice landscapes and stuff.
Everything else...
.....
....blarg. Bad dialogue, bad script, some flat acting, no character development, gaping holes in the plot line (which happen to be where they chopped out pieces of the book, naturally), sometimes overbearing music, blarg blarg blarg. Angela = bizarre and silly. Ajihad and Nasuada = same (what was with Nasuada barging in on gratuitously shirtless Eragon anyway??). Galbatorix = laughably flat. Durza = nicely evil for the most part, but when he started gurgling to summon his black-magic beast and laughed demonically, my mom and I burst out laughing. "Urgals" (oh my...I typed Trollocs...and then realized that was the wrong fandom... ), Ra'zac (was it just me or is the plural of Ra'zac still Ra'zac, not Ra'zacs?), final battle, Varden in general, the dwarves, there being no mention that Arya is an elf...blah! What were they thinking??
I wasn't impressed
After the movie, Mom said "That was one part movie, ...."
And I continued "...three parts video game." Which just about sums it up.

Wow, how people differ....both the friends I saw it with loved it to pieces. But I have to agree with you about shirtless Eragon - and eyelash-fluttering Nasuada. I mean, come on. And yeah, Angela was odd. I'm rereading the book and today Angela came into the story, and I realized how much we'd missed in the movie with the weird jingling Angela they gave us.

i think they combined like, three scene into one scene in the movie, and what was with no Jeod, hes very important to book two, and i think someone else said, now that they have to introduce all of these other characters, they're dug themselves into a nice little hole...

I saw the movie a couple days ago and I was definitely not impressed. I mean, the book was great and the movie had so much potential but it just kinda...failed.
It wasn't awful, sure, but it could have been way better. Saphira was adorable, but there wasn't really much character development. My sister, who hasn't read the book, came to the movie with me and after I mentioned something abotu Murtagh. She had NO CLUE who he even was. Is his name even mentioned?
Yeah, I wasn't impressed. I guess I kinda wanted it to be like LotR.

I was talking to my friend about Eragon and the movie the other day and he asked if the script writer actually read the book. I was like I doubt it because the dialogue was so far from the book. The book's dialogue was pretty good but I think none of the lines showed up in the movie. My friend also mentioned that he speculated that the Urgals were the country drunks that had face paint on them.

I think, for the people who wanted it to be like TLotR [including me], it's probably harder to make movies before all the books in the series come out.
[I'm about to go off on a tangent for a second, ok?]
For instance, the filmmakers know that Frodo will need Galadriel's starglass in TRotK, so they stick the starglass in TFotR.
[back to Eragon]
But in Eragon, maybe the filmmakers don't know how important certain characters introduced in <i>Eragon</i> are going to be in <i>Eldest</i> or the next book. That could be a reason why <i>Eragon</i>'s not the best adapted screenplay in the world.
