I didn't like the wedding in the movie, ROTK, it was too short! The book wedding was also short. But this is how I pictured it; Gandalf would marry them and Arwen's dress would be white with heavy beading and the sleeves would be short and also have beading and she would wear no veil but a circulet of diamonds and Aragorn would be dressed in elven robes and Elrond would be crying and the party, there would be dancing and feasting in the hall of Kings and it would be decorated like a forest n everyone would havea great time!

@ Lady Raine: Your version of the wedding sounds very beautiful and romantic.
I imagine Arwen's wedding dress nearly in the same manner (I don't like her green dress that much), but I always pictured Aragorn wearing the official clothes of the King of Gondor. I think his clothes in the movies don't look that bad, but his hair style and beard should be changed into his typical ranger-look (even if this wouldn't fit his kingly appearance ). I think the party would last for days and many Elves would be present and enjoy this last ceremony before they sail into the West.
I liked the way the movie connected Aragorn's coronation with the sudden appearance of Arwen and the happiness of both after they were reunited. But I think it's pretty sad that PJ left out the "real" marriage. I believe he had to do it, as the movie would have been much too long otherwise. Well, and in the books Arwen does hardly appear anyway.
@Inwenyárë: I think on the one hand Elrond would be happy that his daughter now married her one and only love, but I think on the other hand he would also be quite sad, as he will be seperated from her until the end of days now, which was hinted at in TTT. So he will probably have very mixed feelings...

I liked your version Rose. I'm not a fan of Aragorn's kingly beard either and the armor makes him look fat.

Thanks.
Today I thought about the question whether Arwen and Aragorn would perhaps have a kind of double wedding together with Eowyn and Faramir.
That would even be a greater party.
But then I thought that it would perhaps be not so nice for Aragorn or Eowyn and that the king's wedding has to be celebrated seperately as the greatest event for his people...

I dunno. I like the idea of a double wedding, but I also like it that Aragorn and Faramir's weddings were separate, but if you have double weddings, then double cakes!
Ooh! I just thought up another random topic. What kind of cake do you think was served at their wedding?

Well, I think it could either be some kind of elegant and tasty Elvish cake or one of those cakes they usually have at weddings [the enourmous towering ones], but only much bigger than anyone has ever seen them before. *wants to have a piece of such a tasty cake now *
Whom do you think they would have invited by the way?

I agree with you and I think that they would definitely have invited all people that live in the city, as it would be the first marriage of a Gondorian King for hundreds of years and as certainly everyone would like to take part in it.
Do you think that Aragorn was always sure that he would marry Arwen one day or that he was really surprised when he saw her appearing behind the banner in ROTK, as he had already given up hope seeing her again after what Elrond told him before he went on the Path of the Deads?

Good question! I think he was really surprised to see Arwen because he probably would have thought she had died or she would never come.

Yeah, I think so, too. It was certainly his motivation to keep on fighting to save Middle-Earth and Arwen, but I'm sure he didn't believe that they would be married one day, which could be the explanation why he was ready to face Sauron at the Black Gate when the chances of his own death were so high.
One could say that he neglected Eowyn's love because he still hoped that Arwen would return, but one could also interpret this in the way that he didn't want to betray Arwen or break the confidence between them that always existed, because he still loved her although she might be lost to him forever and as these feelings were still much too strong.
Btw: I love your new Arwen banner!

Hmm... I think that in the movie that is exactly what it is. In the book, though, I think it's more that he didn't think they would make it that far or have the opportunity to marry. It seems that he is expecting her to come in the book when he asks those of the Fellowship to delay their journey home a bit longer for what ended up being his wedding. I can find the quote if you'd like...

Nice to have you back, Arwen!
I've read the book two years ago, so I didn't remember it that exactly anymore. That's an interesting fact. Thanks for the info!
*goes to re-read the passages as soon as she has time*
