Arwen stilled, and looked from her son to the young lady who had just spoke. Then she did something Eldarion definatly didn't expect. She smiled. Not only that, she leaned forward and embraced Alythrya.

"Oh, its about time! I've seen it for months. She backed away and hugged her son, but had to stand on her toes, as he was getting to be taller than she was. "I really am surprised you two didn't see it sooner. She smiled, obviously amused by her son's surprise.

Arwen smiled knowingly, and then said softly,

"Alythrya, if all royal marriges had to be made with a princess and a prince, then there would hardly ever be love in those marriges. And, if a prince and princess - a future king and queen - do not love each other, then how will they show love to their kingdom? Station is just what a person has on the outside. Not on the inside." She had lowered her voice so that only Alythrya could hear as she whispered gently to her, but then brought her voice up so that both of them could hear her,

"And as for my dear husband, I think he will be quite surprised, but not agaist the idea. He will probably want to talk with the two of you also, but overall, I think he will be quite pleased. She then looked back at Alythrya, "Have you told your parents yet, Alythrya?" She asked, cocking an eyebrow slightly.

Arwen almost laughed. She placed a delicate hand over her mouth to hide her smile.

"Oh dear... Well, that will only complicate things." She thought about what Alythrya mean by 'spy'. She now understood why they came to tell her so late... At least her son was honest. "Well, I say its best if we go and speak with them. Come on." She said, heading for her velvet cloak, then headed out the door as she flipped the hood over her head.
