I hated that chapter, simply because it never ends..
And I have to reread A Tale of Two Cities for school. Blech.

I really love that chapter even though it's quite long. I like all those people coming together and talking about their countries and stuff. I think it's very interesting and gives the reader a good context to the storyline.

^Yes! It does! Plus, if you look at the chapter differently, it goes much quicker. Think of all the drama in the various stories---the dwarves trying to protect Bilbo's identity while being threatened by Mordor, Legolas' embarrisment at having lost Gollum. All those stories, and how much longer--well, what's been left out of them. There's material in them for a whole book or more!
What am I reading? Gone with the Wind!

Black Hawk Down by Mark Bowden <= really good book. Very interesting, if you like Special Forces stuff.
And unfortunately I have to read A Tale of Two Cities for my English class. It's really hard to follow so far. Dickens has a really confusing writing style.

i'll second that. he seemed to be of the philosophy "why use 20 words when i can use 200?". i still like him though - he was a very visual author (by which i mean he conjures up really vivid images) and i'm a very visual person, so i like that.
i'm just about to read the exeter book elegies before my medieval literature lecture. i love old english poetry (although atm i'm reading it in translation - i don't learn old english until next year).
