Yup, they've been toiling away in the studio for a while now and the new album should be good to go by May I think. New singer is supposed to be getting announced around the same time as well.

I'm sure Tuomas and the others will choose wisely. Tarja is a hard pair of shoes to fill, so it may feel odd for a while. But I'm pretty confident it'll all work out well.

The other day, I asked Arwen what 'symphonic metal' was, and she sent me some Nightwish and Within Temptation to listen to. I never thought I'd end up listening to metal of any sort, but it wasn't half bad! In fact...*whispers* I sort of liked it!
I guess it's because so much pop and rock and 'emo' music is very limited...only a little harmony, only one voice part, just a bunch of rock instruments...but the first Nightwish song I listened to opened with a really strong, several part chorus. How great is that? And it's all backed up with not only rock instruments but some orchestral stuff, too.
I don't really like lyrics that focus on the negative, that are unnecessarily dark, morbid, etc. But I can't understand what they're saying anyway, so no problem.  _________________ I am a Shieldmaiden for Christ!

Symphonic metal and Power metal are very much harmony and melody based music with a majestic and memorable chorus, incredible singing and and some amazing guitar work! The lyrics are often Fantasy based, there are a lot of Tolkien inspired bands out there!
They have also the most beautiful ballads too!

Yeah, Arwen showed me 'Sleeping Sun', and I liked it a lot! The words weren't too bad either. *grin*
I'll have to see if I can find those others! Not exactly sure where to look.
