Or Mike and Brian were running out of ancient Chinese type names.
I also noticed that the majority of the Fire Nation royalty had four letters in their name. Iroh, Zuko, Ursa, Ozai, Ilah.
While there are the other four that we know of that have more more letters.
Azulon (6), Azula (5), Sozin (5), Lu Ten (5).
Maybe I'm looking too much into this since there are other characters with only four letters in their names too.
Aang, Toph, June, Appa, Momo, Long Feng, Song, etc.
I find it odd that Katara and Sokka are ones that have one of the longer names --- I wonder why.... or if I'm really just making a big deal of nothing.

I think their culture would fascilitate (did I just make that word up?) longer names. For some reason, that's the impression I get.
Hmm. I thought that it was Aang that disappeared when the Fire Nation attacked. Remember? Aang talks about having a fire nation friend one hundred years ago, and says it was peaceful. Then Gyatso and the monks come to him and say that there is trouble brewing and he needed to be trained so he could help. Just as the Fire Nation prepared to attack, Aang ran away and disappeared.
I think that Roku died of natural causes, or at least not due to the Fire Nation. The Avatar was reincarnated as Aang just as rumors of war started up.

I am sorry if that is so random and I am sorry that it is not the answer to your questions. Last day, I was watching the avatar, I saw that Zuko does not kill Avatar when he had the chance to do it in the souhtern pole where a tribe of waterbenderers live. He just waited till Avatar gets back to its body, and Avatar ran away as he returned to his body.
Another thing is that I did not understand that how the king of the nation of fire has got the message that Zuko and his uncle betrayed to the Fire Nation.
Just wondering sorry that if that was so random and unnecessary.

Nope - nope, any post that is on-topic is welcome!
Zuko in his quest for honor has never intended to KILL the Avatar --- he wanted to capture the Avatar and bring him home to his father so that his father would accept him, love him, and restore his honor and welcome him home where he feels he belongs. During the blizzard when he had the Avatar in his catatonic state, Zuko thought it was safe to just wait out the blizzard because if he continued on---both he and the Avatar would die---- so if Aang could not escape, why rush ?
How Fire Lord Ozai managed to get word of Admiral Zhao's defeat and Zuko and Iroh's involvement was left up in the air and if we theorize it could be a number of ways.
Not all Fire Nation ships docked to the wall of the Southern Tribe --- and fled when they saw the big spirit thing = Aang. Soldiers who were battling in the city, could've easily spotted Zuko spending time BATTLING with Admiral Zhao instead of capturing the Avatar.
OR it is possible that they never really thought that Zuko or Iroh "betrayed" the Fire Nation but it was all merely Princess Azula's doing ---- to convince them that Zuko and Iroh must be captured for the well-being of the Fire Nation.
Nie: See, I always had the impression because of the opening sequence during Katara's narration that Roku left when the Fire Nation began attacking the other nations? If it was AANG that Katara meant in the opening then I think they should revise the narration because .. it just doesn't make sense.
"Only the Avatar, Master of all four elements could stop them, but when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years passed and my brother and I discovered the new Avatar, an airbender named Aang."
New would imply that Aang had never publicly come out as the Avatar to the world, and so in the state mind of the world --- they're thinking Avatar Roku left and so where's the new avatar? How do they know that Aang -vanished-?

I know what you mean, Mum, I was actually thinking about that yesterday as I watched the opening sequence. I was under the impression the opening sequence was mainly artistic, but I could be wrong!
So for now, I hold that it was Aang that vanished. But hey, plot twists are cool, so I will gladly accept it if someone proves me wrong.

Well it's still a darn good open narration.

Maybe this isn't true, but is it possible that the Avatar's life spans overlap? That would explain a lot. Avatar Roku could still have been the current avatar while aang, the avatar to be, was recieving training. Of course, it would be slightky odd having two avatars run away...Just a thought.

I can't see that happening because they belong to one soul ..... a soul cannot occupy two bodies at once --- that would be an interesting theory if we didn't already know how the Avatar line works.

It was! It's a good one.
I'm hoping there be more than four books though --- maybe a fifth general Avatar book .

There most likely would be one after Fire --- if they're going with the elemental books, Water, Earth, Fire, Air.

Agreed, UNLESS it starts getting cheesy. Then you can end it --- while it's good.

I also agree. We will also end it at knife point if it starts getting cheesy. Luckily, we havn't had that problem yet.
My sister and I watched the episode "Zuko Alone". Again (thank the lord for tivo). Its a good episode, it really is. However, somthing bothered me. I have too much influence over my sister. While watching, she suddenly says "He's so emo" She obviously got it from me. I asked her if she knows what that means and she has no idea. What if she goes over to a friends house and calls some one emo? That might be a bit wierd. Jeese, how many times have I called Zuko emo?... Just know its in a loving way. He's so emo I want to hug him. Zuko, my emo-boy, oh Zuko.
